Hauole Makahiki Hou!!!
Happy Hogmanay!
My new years wish right now is for Ryan Seacrest to pull a Copperfield and disappear.
Not New Years yet in AZ…
2008 in the east and midwest. us west coast types still have a ways to party before the clock strikes 12
Suz, those DUI vids are always entertaining ;-)
I wisely parked my car at around 1 PM EST and have stayed home ever since.
The fireworks are calming down so I can put the doggy to bed, and me as well. Happy New Year to all, and good night!
Happy New Year MM, and good night!
OH Cool!
They are going to wheel out Dick Clark and plug him in later.
i think this came from Reno 911 but have not been able to confirm it. Cracks me up cause ya know we got bored doing the regular FST (field sobriety tests)
g’nite madmommy
Shouldn’t’ve licked that last toad, Georgie
;>)
I just got home, gang, and I’m right off to bed. But I had to stop in to wish everyone a Happy New Year.
Much love.
Suz, it wouldn’t surprise me if it were from Reno 911 ;-) I know you probably have some excellent FST stories, and I remember a few from going on ride-alongs *g*
Happy New Year, Pach!
707
Just got cold in here!
I love that video!
Happy New Year to everyone.;)
Happy New Years, Pach.

Oh Happy New Year Pach,
Cheers for the New Year.

Ryan Seacrest has so had work done.
May 2008 have no album covers like THIS ONE!
i bet faux network found the best low bid plastics doc they could
Gosh, it’s been a dreadful year.
Happy next year, which (I’ve decided) will not suck.
hey julia – yeap, 2007 was a forking forked up year. i’m trying to be hopeful for a change in 2008
Hey All,
I’ve been thinking so much about the war between the states. We’ve been watching two movies that really shake us: Ride with the Devil (never made it to theaters) and Cold Mountain. Why do these two films resonate so much?
I like that a LOT. Even his teeth hurt!
That only happens when there’s no princesses like you around, S.
;>)
Happy New Year Y’all.
Sorry I was being rude yesterday.
2007 was hell on my finances and general luck. Here’s to 2008 stepping it up a bit on the positive side.
starting off with some early robin for tonights entertainment
I would not mind seeing that genre make a comeback, actually.
Hiya SK~!
for me it was the high expectations of our brand new shiny Democratic Congress that made 2007 so sucky…. If I had been expecting the normal screw me Repug congress then all the other stuff wouldn’t make it that much worse.
No doubt with multi-use ray-guns…
Hi Mr Teddy.
Sorry I got mad on your thread yesterday.
backatcha, lamb.
Ditto Katymine.
Well, I just got a message I’ve never seen at FDL before!
Is this a 2008 innovation?
Hey, Kassie, happy new year.
hey cassie – we all make mistakes and i certainly have been known to be too in touch with my inner bitch.
I have seen that one.
teddy, i get that quite a lot. tis a nice change from the ’slow down cowboy” message that used to show up.
I just got the “error – database connection lost
I got one of those within the past few days — made me scratch my head, as I hadn’t seen anything like that before!
Yeah, I did too.
those that don’t care for robin in the lakeside theater can check out richard in the italian-american lounge.
Would my American friends do the world a great favor and throw a D.U.I.* on this uncouth drunkard?
Thanks so ever much.
;>)
*Democratically Unassailable Impeachment
But that message made me laugh….. as a software engineer…. nice funny messages are so much better than “Error 855″ and they should know what that error means.
New post: http://frecklescassie.wordpress.com/
http://frecklescassie.wordpres…..in-prison/ Babies in Prison
My mom is in prison and has been for more than years. I have thought a lot about what it would be like if she had never been arrested and how different my life would be if she was out and if she was still my guardian. (My life is WAY WAY better now! I wish she could be in a hospital or a drug rehab, but not here in my house.)
But until I read the article below, I never thought of what it would be like to be in prison with her. (I don’t even like going for an hour to visit.) The kids in the article are a lot younger than I was when my mom was arrested, and the prison they’re talking about is in Mexico and not in the U.S., but still it has me thinking.
Nice Suz!
It’s just not new years without a round of Aiko.
db on fire !
ES, very nice!
*groovin’*
Teddy, i don’t think that is the name of what was on fire in that picture.
Holiday sharing of the stash
I gotta go to bed. See y’all tomorrow.
g’nite cassie
must go throw up sorry
Marine avoids Iraq murder charge
Sgt Wuterich says he was operating within military combat rules
The alleged ringleader of US troops who killed 24 unarmed Iraqi civilians in 2005 in Haditha will not face murder charges, a US Marines spokesman said.
Sgt Frank Wuterich, 27, will stand trial for voluntary manslaughter, aggravated assault, dereliction of duty and other charges, officials said.
The decision was made by Lt Gen Samuel Helland, who is overseeing the case.
Good night Cassie, and here’s wishing you a fantastic 2008.
Happy to see you back, Miss SK.
thanks. you too!

This Bertha is even better. I miss these guys every year around this time…

I was looking for the one from Festival Express….
A glass raised to all, plus a hear hear to all our posters and a heartfelt thanks to Jane for bringing us together.

Wonderful.. Thank you.
Oh damn, Teddy, and I even have ABC on right now in the background. I was so intent on listening to the Dead that I totally missed it :-(
always nice to have family on tv and not have it be cops. was this the first time he was interviewed?
Sure thing, ES :-)
Good night all. See you some time after the sun comes up.
Off to a party – it isn’t quite 10:00 p.m. here yet.
Happy New Year, PUPS!!!
pain free sleep wishes, tex
Happy New Year! One more year as Bush takes away every right you ever thought you had and Gillespie, Fielding, and Addington regard the people as peons.
But their could be some light in the new year. The conservative, Vote with Bush no matter how she talks HRC is behind in some polls, and any of the top 3 Dems can beat the sorry lying clowns the Rethugs are putting up in the general.
Poll Shows Obama With 7-Point Lead In Iowa Contest

Good night Tex, and happy new year!
ET, have fun at the party!
anyone have a quarter?
*fishing in the recesses of my wallet for a quarter*
hang on….will be back with something.
Error messages are an art form. Some have got it. Some don’t.
My only rule of thumb is to tell people not only what the error was but what the correct options are, or where to find them.
dayamit, its 32.0 outside and not forking snowing, just getting colder with clear skies.
I’ve played this here before, so apologies in advance.
Rock ‘n Roll Doctor
Since the new DUI laws came into effect here in AZ…. heavy fines, have to put in a breathalyser into your car for a year plus other stuff…. the bars & others have inventive on how to get customers into their business. One guy now has a van to drive patrons home within a 5 mile radius of the club.
Another guy has a “will drive you & your car home” as they have small foldable motorcycles in a tote bag to return to base.
Never gets old!
I’m still waiting for Dick Clarks mummified remains to be reanimated.
I must say Fergie ain’t so bad to keep my attention focused.
She is actually sing a pretty song!

Didn’t just notice… I can (or could) relate.
Best wishes, firepups, and here’s to an incrementally less homicidally insane nation in 2008.

That there shows you the miracle of free enterprise.
Those foldable motorcycles were featured on 60 Minutes about three years ago — in Italy. I wondered when they would catch on here.
Thanks for the Queen, db.

Speaking of Liar, Richard Cohen’s heinous column tomorrow starts this way:
How the man can stay employed, I will never understand. Can’t write, can’t write the truth.
Hey Betsy, LL, Suz, Cassie.

Arkansas, you say?

OMG… Craig Ferguson is on…. “Chinese NY will be here in a few weeks… and we will see the end of the year of the Cock…. after all it has been a long and hard year”…
was gonna try to show up on time for the new years party … hi to all the Firepups still up and wishes for happy, healthy, prosperous, and above all, progressive, new years for all the Firepups.
I was delayed getting to the party by my stationed-in-Iraq son-in-law IM’ing “sweetpea” at midnight Midwest time (i’m staying overnite at daughter’s to babysit while she’s at work tomorrow), and i kindly let them IM for 50 min. *g* good of me to let my daughter use her own computer, eh? *g*

Got aTeddy San Fran Special in the works for the idjit?
That one for Debbie was a howler.
You can certainly lay the smackdown when you try.
Someday, we’re going to get smart and take the WeenieSlags on for real. If we don’t, it’s hard to imagine ever turning them around. They are as vested as any pol.
twas very liberal of you ndfg (/snark)
I wish there was an error message that said, “The message you thought you posted a half an hour ago is still here. All the people to whom it was addressed have fallen asleep.
You slowpoke!” etc. etc.
sometimes, i wish there was an error message that asks:
I can’t get out of here without wishing a very Happy New Year to our (((West Coast pups)))
good night for realz!
This One’s For Teddy

aha… that is my message ;)

Right at the last I skimmed back through and was amazed at just how many links got put up and said I figured that thread was destined for FDL history.
I had a blast.
Thank you Teddy. Happy New Year!

OMFG, Roger Cohen disputes the cost of a candidate’s haircut:
Thank you dilligent sir for alerting us to this unpardonable, how shall we call it, lie. You’ve surely saved the republic.

Happy New Year, Jane. That looks like a good party!
Only for DINOS and Republicans.
High praise from a man, no doubt, with many hats.

Happy New Year all…
no but its not unheard of – there was snow a winter or two before i moved up here but hasn’t been any since i’ve been here. i want snow before i move away.
As a New Years thought, I’d like to note this from Digby:
wigwam, the group news blog has a post up with links to some of gilly’s best.
I hope you get it, when I first moved into my house I thought how great it would be to get snowed in and I got 22″ of it that February. Keep the faith, it could happen.
happy new year on da west side of the lake
How cool is that – the first link in the piece is to FDL Thanksgiving ‘06.

npb! are you feeling better?
I am feeling much better since discovering the medicinal magic of warm brandy. ;~)
Ain’t that great? Nectar of the gods.
as long as its not that peach brandy stuff (shruddering)
Any recent news from Jane and Jeralyn in Iowa?
But try some warm Armagnac.
scroll up, npb – jane left us a sneak peak utube
You’re going to love this little Jane Drop-In!
Jane checked in at #154 at 11:36pm PST.
i’m getting slow in my old age. both you guys beat me to finding the link for npb. good thing i refreshed my comments before posting what would have been a duplicate to both of you (laughing)
Investigate! Impeach! Indite! Prosecute!
Bring the whole lot chained hand and and foot, head bagged and then, and only then! Rendered to the Haig for war crimes and crimes against Humanity! Then assigned tiny little dark holes to think about how we feel about Them, for abusing and destroying our constitution and the country we were give by our fore fathers.
We must not this administration get away with this disaster. 2009 I can’t wait to be celebrating a Democratic President coming to the White House with both houses to be under Strong Democratic majorities.
Just a little wishful thinking.
I’m guessing a close race on among Clinton, Obama, and Edwards in Iowa. The best it can do for Edwards is keep his candidacy alive. So, how are things looking in New Hampshire, which may be the make-or-break state?
Thanks wigwam – if mrbrat can find an open store tomorrow I look forward to warm Armagnac….sounds good.
stores will be open tomorrow – gotta sell them big screen tv’s for the big game
Wishing a Happy New Years to all of you.
Hello, Margot!
LOL
The Lurking Mod, you scared me!
(Not.)
Happy New Year!
Happy New Year, The Lurking Mod and the rest of the Mod Squad backstage. Has been a pleasure working with you this past year.
Senator Dodd’s words warmed my heart, most especially his thanks and acknowledgement of Jane’s commitment & contributions to the blogosphere in general and our body politic in particular. WooHoo!
thought that would perk ya up, npb *waving across monterey bay to ya*
Speaking on behalf of the backstage crew (all 77 of whom are asleep no doubt), it has been a pleasure and a great ride.
Very Happy New Year Suzanne!
Dood, I like how you think. And, please know, I’m a one-issue guy: bring ‘em to justice. But, alas, there are problems.
The first problem is the willingness of presidential candidates to prosecute (if elected). On the Republican side at most Ron Paul would be willing to prosecute, and I’ve seen no direct confirmation from him. On the Democratic side, I was sure that Chris Dodd would prosecute given how proud he is of his fathers contributions at Nuremberg. But, alas, he is on record as opposing prosecution of BushCo crimes. Hillary is ensconced with the neocons. So, that leaves Edwards, an attorney, as our last hope. So far, I’ve heard nothing, but at least he’s not talking about who can best “reach across the aisle.”
Once we get a president who’ll prosecute, we face three problems:
– The attempted gutting of the War Crimes Act of 1996 via the Military Commissions Act of 2006, which I think was a botched job.
– The American Service-members Protection Act of 2002 (aka, the Hague Invasion Act) which … (Look it up in the Wikipedia. It’s too disgusting for me to describe after drinking New Years champaigne.)
– Presidential pardons, which (per John Dean) likely includes the ability for a president to pardon himself.
I’m not giving up, but it ain’t going to be an easy fight.
Happy New Year to you Lurking Mod.
Looking forward to another year of avoiding your ire again.
Ha.
Happy New year to you, too, Suz and LM. We just got home from a dinner party with friends who live near the Rose Bowl. It took us a while to find our way back to the freeway, even though we know the neighborhood well – all the streets are blocked off for the parade tomorrow.
The Rose Parade is a big deal here: The sudden appearance of hordes of RV’s make the freeways a nightmare and the simplest errand takes all day, stores are out of everything and everybody but you is drunk. We can’t even hurl tortillas at each other across the parade route anymore. What is the world coming to? We rarely leave the house if we can help it.
Most of our fellow party-goers are for Obama, then Edwards but none of them can vote. They’re French, they see the election more in terms of what’s good or “interesting” for the rest of the world than of domestic issues. They think electing a black president would send a message to the rest of the world that we are growing up and may be safe to play with again. Plus his inspiring oratory really gets them. (Gallic shrug)
mmb, they still have those folks with briefcases and kazoo’s doing the anti parade?
Thats why we must help Robert Wexler ( WexlerWantsHearings.com) get enough signatures to force the issue in the House. If Bush is allowed to finish his term we are in for a record breaking number of pardons I fear! And then the bastards might get off, but (hopefully) not under international laws, they are still accountable.
Good night to Suzanne, Lurking Mod and all who are here. It’s 3 a.m. CST and I think that’s late enough for me. Looking forward to a great year at FDL.
At which point the murderous thugs and sycophantic minions dig in and start trying to rebuild their base.
The fuckers are like rust, they never sleep
g’nite neuro
Gnite neurophius.
Thanks & waving right back attacha MissSuz! Any date set for the next Boulder Creek firepup meetup? Have to go to southern CA mid-month and will be oh so disappointed to miss seeing everyone.
wigwam at 207 – has Edwards slipped in the Iowa polls? Could have sworn I saw an earlier poll today on DKos he had pulled a bit ahead of Hill & Obama. Am disgusted with the MSM virtual boycott of Edwards hard fought campaign on the ground in Iowa.
G’ night the year is young and much must be spoken and plans made if we are to get our country back for the common citizens of this country!
nite neuro
The Doo-Dah Parade! Still fun but not like the first anarchic days. It’s around Thanksgiving.
Nite all. Happy Blue year!
nite mommybrain! Happy New year!
Yeah but it is a slow death for them! A little at a time!
We can get them all, one at a time until the flood happens as the legal spin unwinds it self. It will just take a lot of investigations by good lawyers!
Sweet dreams neurophius -
about time for this old dog to head off to bed pups. g’nite and happy new year ya’ll. thanks for spending this evening at the lake.
I doubt Edwards has slipped, but all of the polls I’ve seen have him slightly ahead at best.
nite suzanne.
thank you for putting up with our bullshit with grace and humor :-)
Happy New Year!
HA Suz – you are hardly an “old dog” —— sweet dreams kid.
I fully support impeachment. And, per Article II:
So, in some way, impeachment inhibits the president’s powers of pardon. A good thing ™.
I agree. thats why it can’t for a new Dem president. Other wise we have to hope that either Edwards, Biden or Dodd will help the cause to have justice for the American people if one of them actually gets elected. For that matter Bush just might call a national emergency to fore stall any succession of office. Lets hope not.
Indeed!
G’nite all. And happy new year.
driveby on my way out after vacuuming, doing the dishes and straightening up before the morning crew get here.
I think boosh would go back to texas no problem – cheney is a whole nutter thing – he is who i worry about
GO to bed !speak at ya later! My sweetie is already asleep and keeping the bed warm. Best to all and I am looking forwared to many more informative discussion in 2008!
But still! Investigate! Impeach! and imprison in a little hole with no light.
nite all. ‘07, for all that sucked about it, had some great things, too.
I’ve five minutes to till the ‘08! I bid ya’ll a fond adieu and a Happy new Years… *g*
It all depends on who gets Biden’s vote if he isn’t viable:

Happy New Year everyone from Fargo.
BTW, it’s -19 wind chill here at the moment, so no complaining from the California crowd about a little “coolness” in the air. LOL.
Love the video, Suzanne! Hysterical. I have to admit by the end of 2007 with the Bush Regime still in charge, I felt like this guy.
