These Jay Ward productions were by far the favorite, in terms of enthusiasm if not ratings, TV cartoons of my fraction of the baby-boomer generation for their unique combination of kid appeal (funny voices, goofy characters, and silly plots) with witty wordplay and knowing cultural references.
