He will NOT allow impeachment hearings to take place.

Conyers knows that Pelosi will undercut the efforts of impeachment rather than helping to build a bi-partisan coalition to impeach.

Conyers knows that Pelosi will again be Speaker of the House next year and she will take him off the Judiciary Committee if he goes against her wishes. It’s a “lose-lose” for him and impeachment.

Let’s help him and the rest of the members of the House of Representatives by removing an obstructionist Speaker. It can be done and must be done to start the impeachment process.

I can see it now, rows and rows of papers in folders and binders full of paper and every single page is completely redacted blacked-out.

Effectively, this gave Cheney the power of the President without the need to publicly acknowledged his coup. One wonders if Cheney is a Svengali, or if Bush and Cheney actively or tacitly agreed that that’s how it should work because it was wonderfully convenient for them both. Those early on who objected that commands from Cheney’s shop lacked the obvious and necessary presidential imprimatur quickly found themselves seeking other employment.

Secrecy was and remains essential to Cheney’s coup. Surprisingly, even now, he has it. Hence, apart from late night show humor and a few blogs, few publicly challenge the Decidererer’s self-proclaimed role, because it accurately describes his formal (but not actual) powers, and because doing so would earn a Press Korps “reporter” the Thomas and, now, the CNN treatment.

Even we still call this the “Bush” administration.

Everything we needed to know about Bush and Cheney surfaced within days and weeks of taking office; Bush signed an EO within a week of inauguration setting up the Energy Task Force that Cheney led, and in which the spoils of Iraq were divided. Even the complicity of the SCOTUS became evident as a result of Cheney and the Energy Task Force, with Scalia refusing to recuse himself after his duck hunting with DeadEye.

To the best of my knowledge, Cheney still owes documents in relation to the Energy Task Force and has not turned them over — dating back to 2004 decisions by fed Judge Paul Friedman (April ‘04) and SCOTUS (June ‘04). Why this criminal has not been held in contempt is beyond me.

And everything that’s happened since the Energy Task Force has merely been a reformulation of the hide-and-seek tactics used to obscure Cheney’s “other priorities”.
