Peggy Noonan views the Iowa field and counsels everyone via the pages of the Wall Street Journal to be "reasonable" in choosing a candidate.
In her mind, Obama is reasonable — Hillary and Edwards are not. Romney and McCain are reasonable, Rudy isn’t (though she won’t say why), and Huckabee needs to get off the bottom of her shoe. Ron Paul — well, he doesn’t even get mentioned.
Peggy’s personal history of "reasonable" includes giving the Pope John Paul II a spontaneous knuckle job ("The pope proceeded down the line, nodding and patting, and when he got to me I jerked into a kind of curtsy-bow and touched his right hand with my hands. Then I bent and covered his thick old knuckles with Chanel No. 23 Red Raspberry lipstick. I couldn’t help it. I think I said, "Papa.") Via Frederick Clarkson, let’s look at the "reasonable" folks Pegaloon and her pack rode to power manipulating:
Earlier this year, antiabortion revolutionary theocrats celebrated the tenth anniversary of the crimes of Paul Hill, the ex-Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) minister who, on July 29, 1994 assasinated abortion provider Dr. John Britton and James Barrett one of his escorts, and seriously wounding another, June Barrett, outside a clinic in Pensacola, Florida. Hill was convicted of his crimes and was executed by the State of Florida.
The festivities were called Paul Hill Days. The underground Army of God organization is now promoting a video of the celebration’s reenactment of the murders.
The video is quite stirring. You get to watch a bunch of men self-righteously parade around, quite engorged with the conviction that they are doing the Lord’s own work. And remember, Huckabee is the guy who compared abortion to the holocaust. Dollars to donuts, he’s their guy.
Sorry if Huckabee and his tribe offend the Crazy Jesus Lady, who once counciled the Democratic Party to take a strong, public stand on Christmas. You don’t get to egg these people on for years and then shout "enough!" when you find out they’re really serious about this stuff.

Buncha douchebags without ovaries who’ll never face the decision to end a pregnancy inside their own bodies. Likely they won’t be involved in creating any babies either.
Can we call them Noonan’s Loons?
This is so great the GOP is in a panic. Peggy goes after Huck, Huck goes after Rush, the voters might like Huck allot, but Ron Paul is winning the money equals love contest from voters. Mitt wins the self love/self funding his campaign contest.
The GOP is losing to the Dems in funding and now in discipline. What does happen when Authoritarian Group Thinkers all stop being nice and disagree?
Well I don’t know either but we will find out on “Real World” GOP the Election
Freudian slip? Didn’t he say Paul Hood the first time?
Peggy poor dear is seriously stoooopit,or has early senility, which can be caused by hardening of the arteries in the brain
either way,she is given huge sums of money to dribble her saliva and talking points
Please, please let Huck win in the primaries. Watching the GOP “elite” self-destruct would be better than sex.
Now, I wouldn’t go THAT far but it would make for some good popcorn eating visuals
Lies work better when everybody is on the same page, when the liars are a majority and can shout down their critics. When the liar is too popular or important to be ignored.
Peggy going after Huck, who is going after Rush is going to gt the GOP all kinds of confused we need to egg them on!
How about better than great sex with someone you don’t love, or hate really hate.
Here’s the caliber of the Giuliani brain trust:
Late Update: Greg Sargent just interviewed the guy. He is John Deady, the co-chair of Veterans for Rudy in New Hampshire, and he is not backing off his original comments, telling Greg: “I don’t subscribe to the principle that there are good Muslims and bad Muslims. They’re all Muslims.”
Yep, it’s genocide or surrender.
Heaven help us.

Glen Greenwald has a post about this and Nooner’s reasoning on why Edwards is not reasonable….. because he poofs his hair…. a video from 2004 for a few seconds and poofing ……..
http://www.salon.com/opinion/g…..index.html
The abortion movement is violent Jane? But Penn from Penn and Tellar was on Glenn Beck yesterday saying something about how the end Abortion movement was big and peaceful?
I would have more to add but I changed the channel as soon as I saw Glenn
I hope Penn was setting Glenn up for a joke.
Sorry, Jane, but I really think you’re overreaching in repeating the moniker “Crazy Jesus Lady” with respect to Peggy Noonan, who merely demonstrates a reasonable modicum of…uh…ohhhhh…noooo….please don’t let…..me…..paste…..this……
Way after the fact, we found out that Reagan was going bonkers all along. I fear such revelations wont be the last.
Hey Edwards can poof his hair all he wants I don’t care. I get angry when Rudy Poofs his mistress and then has the cops at tax payer expense drive her home.
If all Noonan has on Edwards is that hackneyed reference to his hair then the Old Girl’s got nothing!
It was fun just reading the post over at Glen Greenwalds….. kind of a food fight over the meaning of poof…. whether she meant pouf vs poof and dictionary meanings.
Why can someone glorify domestic terrorism against women and their providers as reasonable?
We are a country that does not have enough physicians and nurses and someone glorifies their murder, sick sick sick….. that is reasonable?
I guess someone has a different definition of reasonable than I can find.
Rudy claims people were threating Judith but I know lots of people with orders of protection, but I never heard of anyone getting round the clock police protection unless they were a witness at a mob trial. Also I have never seen anyone get the cops to walk their dog.
Now then who was threating Judith, was there ever really anybody threating Judith and why were they threatening her?
How come Mr Law and Order Rudy can’t find and arrest this person. Why won’t Rudy release any details to the press.
Why doesn’t Peggy go after this juicy story. Why does she settle for a months old story about a haircut. Why is Peggy still employed if she writes a retread story about a haircut? If this is how Rupert is running the WSJ then why is anybody invested in his company.
The only Democrat who is reasonable is Obama sheesh first MoDo gushes over Obama in a swimsuit and now Peggy thinks Obama is reasonable , well at least Michelle shouldn’t have to worry much if Obama becomes president.
Noonan’s antagonism towards Giuliani is a Brooklyn thing. She’s Irish, he’s Italian. And he treats women badly. That’s enough to put him in the unreasonable category. As a teenager, Noonan ran into so many guys like Rudy at dances at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, she doesn’t need specific reasons to reject them out of hand. As Nana would say, “They’re no damned good, any of them.”
Are you a NYCer?
Exactly. What else have they got on the guy… how about the fact that he’s telling middle America the system’s rigged against them & getting Iowa hog farmers all upset?
It would seem the word is out to the MSM (PBS included, I’m afraid) that the less said about Mr Edwards the better, just ignore him and hope he’ll go away. Heh.
Oh, please.
The woman has built an entire career on her political association with a man who spent essentially his entire adult life in pancake makeup. Ronald Reagan used as much hairspray on an average day as I have in the past decade.
“Nooner’s reasoning on why Edwards is not reasonable”
Noonan is to reasoning, as John Belushi is to moderation.
Ronald Reagan was someone I detested when he was the host for the General Electric show back in the 50’s when I was a kid. He was so phony, and when he clearly showed the signs of Alzheimer’s in his second term as president, noone said anything it seemed. Nancy whispering in his ear. He was a second rate actor forever. That anyone thought he was a hero, was beyond me. Beyond his bad acting, he ordered the national guard to shoot to kill the protestors protesting Vietnam. And this is the guy Noonan idolized? Gag me.
I heard Penn of Penn & Tellar on O’Reilly last fall at my right winger brothers’ house. A total right wing apologist.
What’s sickening is how emotion and pretty words have been used to deaden the judgement of so many Americans. The Republicans have Rove, Luntz, Ailes, and the long gone Lee Atwater (who repented of his evil ways on his deathbed). Who do we have? Jim Wallis, Jeffrey Feldman and there’s another guy I can’t think of his name right now, but we need wordsmiths, word psychologists, and maybe most importantly media control/ownership.
The GOP is going to self-destruct at the convention, and the best part of it is that it will be televised.
Peggy Noonan is high up in the Republican noise machine.
They want Obama as a candidate because they know their candidate will defeat him. Not just because of the enduring existence of racism in America, but also xenophobia–fear of foreigners. A Muslim father and stepfather? They can’t wait to have him as a candidate!
Please people don’t give Peggy what she wants.
It’s unreasonable that a twit like Peggy Noonan has a chance in a widely read column to pontificate about what is “reasonable”. In a reasonable world she would be writing want ads for a local paper with a very small circulation. Or maybe one of those giveaways. Peggy Noonan is to reporting what gum is to sustenance.
What is it with these right-wing wackos who like Obama? God that has me worried.
