Dear Senator Craig,
Don’t worry, everybody taps their toes to this tune.
Thanks for the most entertaining Republican caught in the act of hypocrisy moment of 2007.

ES!
hello!
Kick ass!
Eureka!!!
ES!
Larry ain’t off our radar just yet!
Hmm the theme song of Deliverance utilized a banjo as well.
Hi ES! Was that Frank McCourt doing the intro?
It’s time to reclaim the toe-tapping term. Senator Craig can’t keep it forever. *g*
Now that’s toe tapping for sure.
What in tarnation is that racket?
Did you see JibJab’s take on 2007?
http://www.jibjab.com/originals/in_2007
Not sure but, I love this youtube!
Is that Frank McCourt?
’tis.
That’s toe-sucking. (stay tuned in ‘08)
So when are we going to have a year that is not as dismal as JibJab portrays?
I don’t think so, and he was my HS english teacher for two terms, but I could be wrong.
;-)
After the Rapture..? ;-)
Julia, whoa — you had Frank McCourt as a teacher? That is so cool!
OK. Guess I won’t see it. Not among the chosen.
The non-chosen will be right here, waiting for you, a seat open at the p*k*r table.
Yeah, it was. Of course, it means that a Pulitzer prize winner remembers me as a whiny obnoxious adolescent.
Eureka, that is something.
I never could figure out how banjo players can sit still.
Um, not a gambler. Watching submarine races is more exciting to me. But if you could set up a bar I’d be fine.
But there will be no problems after all the ‘chosen’ have departed…
I like Frank McCourt as a writer, did you like him as a teacher?
So tell all. What was he like? What did you learn from him?
or mandolin players..
He was a great teacher. If you haven’t read Teacher Man, you should. It’s a really good book about what it’s like being a teacher in a less-than-ideal teaching environment.
“Teacher Man” is one of my favorite books. If you haven’t read it, I highly recommend it.
So why can’t we have as much fun before they depart as we might have after they’re gone? Do they really have that much influence on us? If so (and I think it’s true) shame on us.
Fancy. Also he was the first person who ever complimented my writing.
OT: Per Digby:
That makes Texas the moral peer of the People’s Republic of China.
Julia, you beat me to it — I really loved that book.
ding!
What kind of an Irish Catholic is he! They’re supposed to make you toe the line thru punishment, not compliments. Excommunication for him.
Now if Senator Larry had an I-Pod tucked in his pocket and earphones on…and produced that to the copper I think he would have walked away with nary a rebuke!
Thanks for reminding me about Teacher Man. I will go read it soon. I need a break from the political stuff! Talk about less than ideal environments!! No Cronies Left Behind.
The trouble with hypocrits is that they don’t even think about the first principles of plausible deniability.
Good one!
Officer, I was picking up my Shuffle that was underneath that nasty bit of paper. Too small for you to notice…here, listen to this great bluegrass stuff I have on here…
Heh. I was picturing a little boom-box with GOP stickers.
Perhaps he’d kissed the balarney stone (whatever the hell that means).
If you read Angela’s Ashes, you’d be amazed that Frank McCourt is still Catholic…I think he might be considered “fallen away”.
Blarney Stone
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blarney_Stone
Alas, ex-catholicism, an excellent and growing religion.
I suspect that wouldn’t upset him too much.
dosido, he had a harrowing childhood.
Tempted to make intemperate remark about anyone who is not fallen away R.C. bet will refrain.
Well I hope Frank McCourt has a toe-tapping sense of humor.
Why alas?
that was one of the things that struck me about Angela’s Ashes – how much more difficult his life was than mine, and how he’d moved past it to the point of being able to tell the story with a sense of humor.
Oh, I read about the harrowing childhood…egads! I went digging just now and here’s what I found over at Amazon forums on Angela’s Ashes from one poster there:
There you go! ;)
An overly long and conflicted story. But perhaps someday …
Ever the region of intrigue and skullduggery.
Israel is assisting Turkey’s military in Kurdish Iraq with UAV’s.
It’s a madhouse.

About two weeks ago I caught Senator craig on the senate floor reminiscing on endlessly about his good times with the Senate
GayChorus.. I really need to find it and save it.. It was classic to say the least. The disconnect, beyond the pale.Yeah, Larry Craig is an amazing study in the power of denial and self-delusion.
Tonight’s the day.
So what’s up with Larry Flynt? He promised to out a R senator within daze a couple of daze ago, and we get nothing but silence. I’m going a little blue holding my breath.
full props to Quebecois for highlighting this jaunty toe-tap re-enactment
Maybe the envelope stuffed with cash arrived?
Frankly, I don’t care who’s gay and who isn’t…I do care about who’s “in bed” with which corporation, however. How come we don’t hear more about that? Jeremy Scahill calls out a few folks on Blackwater.
GOP want Hillary to win nomination because she has so much baggage it isn’t funny. Then even a loser like Huckadoodledoo has that chance in hell.
Don’t think that motivates Flynt. Though not sure what does. He’s the man we hate to love, so I’ve been a longtime fan.
Have listened to quite a few Scahill screeds on Blackwater but none containing gay inuendo. Link?
OK, I’m starting to rant. Time to beddybye.
Thanks for the great toetapper with Frankie McCourt, ES!
Suffice it to say that I copied Dosido’s comment at #52 to sundry family and friends.
Oopsie, I mixed my metaphors too much! No gayness in the Scahill stuff that I know of, LOL. I meant it in the politics make for strange bedfellows sort of way. Like the Clintons helping along the privatization of the military functions.
Sorry! Whoo, I better quit while I’m behind!
So, um, if you want to reduce crime, you assign the cops to areas where crime is high. Duh.
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/12…..oref=login
Nice.
Been there, done that. LOLOL.
OK, one more for wigwam…
there’s an interesting older book called “Once a Catholic…” which is a series of interviews of different public figures with varying relationships with their church of origin (catholic). Folks like George Carlin, Christopher Buckley, Martin Scorsese, etc. It was fairly interesting as I recall. You might check it out sometime.
Glad you enjoyed it Dosido. Rest well.
Scahill has done great work, as has R.J. Hillhouse (theSpyWhoBilledMe). Dissassembling that nightmare of contractors is a job for the righteous among the spooks, e.g., Ray McGovern, Larry Johnson, and their associates.
I just want to know how they got G. Gordon Liddy to do this.
Thanks, I will.
LOL. Tony Levin plays a mean “stick”, for Peter Gabriel and others.
I think Zoe Conway has such a wonderful touch with the violin.
Yep. Last thing I saw him do was a live Yes piece with Jon Anderson.
She’s great! Such hands.
I sense Flynt’s motivation is straight-forward:
Hatred of massive hypocrisy, perhaps fueled by hostility about his shooting.
He knows the ways of the world. What better focus than politicians?
I hate massive hypocrisy too! Anybody still here?
Hi ET. Just over at your place. Some rink you’ve got there. And close to home, too!
Hope you had/have a great holiday.
I’m snooze-worthy. Night all.
Just you, me and the chickens. I’m off to finish the trash reading Santa brought – my once a year tabloid.
In case others are interested, Once A Catholic by Peter Occhiogrosso seems to be the book dosido refers to.
