What’s a horse or mule without their harness? Glue. This “constituent” obviously doesn’t consider a woman fit to work outside the home, period. That doesn’t qualify for “Neanderthal” status any more than it would for agrarian, Victorian or Depression era women, all of whom worked their fingers to the bone except for those sipping tea and working ever so hard for their MRS. degree and a house in the Hamptons, upper east side, back bay or Kennebunkport. Not to mention a few tens of millions of American women doing the same thing today to keep the predatory lender, the college tuition officer and the local taxman, grocer and wolf away from the door. I consider her comments to be historically, culturally, socially, economically, legally and gender blind, but, hey, it’s Christmas.

Pity Hillary isn’t twenty-five years younger, or we could contemplate a pregnant CEO of Surveillance State Amerika. But even if Jacky and Jack had put a bun in the oven, or sat on the nest, or had a visit from the stork, I presume she would think it brought down the dignity of the Village. I guess that’s why I preferred television in England. You might occasionally see a woman breast feed or appear nudely alluring, but’d never see Scarface baseball bat a head off a capo regime’s shoulders.

Thank you, Christy, best of the season and even more for 2008.

Oh, and … what does one do with a load of coal in a tropical climate? LOL.

My late wife, Marion, loved Christmas more than any person I ever knew. I miss her. And this day is not the same.

And on the topic of strength, she had more than anyone. A high threshhold of pain, some said, but I think it was more stubbornness and strength of character as well.

Too bad her own family never appreciated her. The only one I keep in occasional touch with is the oldest daughter. The one the others don’t speak to … so it goes.

ROTFLMAO!

I found an old Christmas record from the 60’s, the Philly Orchestra with Ormandy, and played it this morning. Every Christmas, this was the wakeup music on Christmas day for my kids. They grew up on it.

I hadn’t heard it now for at least ten years, and when it began playing, I shed a tear.

It also seemed the playing and singing appeared much more innocent than what I hear as Christmas music today, happier, even.

Anyway, I’ll be seeing them tomorrow where I get to make Eggs Benedict for 22 people or more. I guess this has replaced the Philadelphia Orchestra as the tradition on Christmas day. Of course, I also have grandchildren, so maybe I’ll take the CD with me and play it there.

So best to you all. I wish I could publish my Christmas Card here, but words will have to do.
