It just keeps getting proven…anything “mainstream” and me just don’t jive. Just saw this on Yahoo’s homepage:
“Thirty years later, David Bowie and Bing Crosby’s “Little Drummer Boy” remains the weirdest duet in pop history.”
Weird? Why not call it one of the best, which I think it is. Brillant comes to mind. Always one of my favorites this time of year.
Yet to the pee-ons that write “the news” for millions of people….it’s weird. Perhaps I’m just a freak. Oh well.
but before i shut down ….
Huckabee Gives Church Sermon; Unapologetic About Christmas Ad
FOX News – 9 hours ago
by FOXNews.com Mike Huckabee stirred up the faithful at a mega-church in San Antonio, Texas, on Sunday, preaching to a congregation of 10000 evangelical Christians who gave him a superstar welcome, including a 30 second standing ovation, and plenty of …
Got to go skating out on the lake this afternoon with my dog. First time since last spring. I took some ice pictures, too, but it was cloudy and it isn’t very bright here the day after Winter solstice unless it is sunny. Now it is snowing.
Did you get snow last night, suzanne?
Happy Christmas Eve Eve, pups!
Huckabee tries to dissemble criticism of his ad to make people think that his mention of “Christmas” and “Christ” was what they “attacked”. “My opponents and enemies HATE JESUS!”
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/200…..kqAnhI2ocA
Huckabee’s campaign says the floating cross was a pure
miracleaccident!i guess we know where huckster stands regarding separation of church and state. i wonder what his campaign financials disclose who paid for his travel and whether or not it was considered to be a campaign stop etc.
Brilliant!
And I find that I am still hot for David.
ET, no snow, just another night at 29. tonight is warmer, foggy and 41.
But, Bonkers, it’s such a cool tune…

I heard the scar from Shucksabee’s tummy stapling looks like the virgin Mary.
aaaaahhhhhhhh! goes running from lake.
Jingle Hells Bells
There’s Something In The Chimney
I’ve gotten pretty philosophical about that Bowie/Crosby duet in years past. You can get pretty poetic about the old schools and new schools coming together to create something wonderful. Let’s get beyond “generation gaps” and societal labels. Really a fantastic piece of television that was.
Oh yea, and even though I’m a hetero male, I’d want David to be the one if I ever wanted my Stardust Ziggied.
Makin’ A List, And Checking It Twice…Gonna Find Out Whose Naughty and Nice
J.Edgar is coming to town! 12,000 Americans were on his list to be interned without habeas corpus during the Korean War. Wonder where the list is…and who is on it? Betcha a lot of actors, writers, union leaders, African-Americans calling for civil rights, beatniks, peaceniks, pinkos, pachukos and other fellow-travellers of the Constitution.
Sounds like someone that Bush would want running the DOJ!
These people are frightening.
I just now got to Glenn today, and he is stunning as ever.
Mitt Romney’s pursuit of tyrannical power, literally
Mitt’s replies are, by far, the scariest, makes Shooter look like a outright Constitutionalist.
Didn’t he get his stomach pumped once, oh wait, that was Rod…!
(Time for an intervention, methinks.)
And on that note, ‘pups, I wish you merry everything!
Remember, tomorrow is a longer day!
Goodnite, sweetnesses….

A Holy Roller.
I must go to bed. I have been up since before god was born.
I did. I did. Hee.
nite mary
LOL!
g’nite mary mc – have a merry merry
guess we are down to just chickens now
Ahmen, brother. That Mitt is one scary mofo. But he is not so all that far from today’s average winger, sniveling in the corner begging for Big Brother to protect them. They are the epitome of the very thing that disgusted this nation’s founders:
But then we have today’s Republicans whimpering: “The bill of rights was never meant to be a death pact.” And we have Mitt Romney: “Our most basic civil liberty is the right to be kept alive.” Sniveling and whimpering. Studly fellows these wingers.
a friendly reminder to dont be a dick this holiday season
“Freedom requires religion…”
SeeSaw Romney actually said that…in context. How many more of these things will SeeSaw say and still get a pass by the Conglomerate Press?!?! I mean John Harwood of the Wall St Urinal, who is one of the most dangerous operatives since he’s nice and calm and gets on EVERY show, literally said today on Meet the Russert something like, “Move along here…there’s nothing to see” when talking about Mittmo’s MLK, Jr. lies. Using SeeSaw’s definition of “saw,” apparently George Romney and George WALLACE marched with Dr. King!
It’s been obvious for some time now that SeeSaw is the choice of the Big Money wing of the Repube Party. One of their own after all. If he wasn’t Mormon, I’d bet SeeSaw would be the overwhelming favorite right now even in the general. Just shows how much farther we still need to swing that pendulum. I envision a day when someone can lie as much as SeeSaw Romney and get called out on that shit. We need more and more people to shun Conglomerate Media and come to places like FDL.
Newton, I personally hold you responsible for the madness that has descended upon Suz… *g*
Newton IS the marvel who found me the DSL, CT
My work is done here, then.
Blasphemy, I tells ya…!
i heard an evil laugh while reading that newton.
See!!!
The absence of snark tags adds a certain sinister flavor, I agree.
evening, late pups!
I think ya’ll are just used to thinking of me as some straight laced uniformed republican and don’t realize I am a DF-music loving-H inside.
’sides, I don’t think I would have been asked to do the alternating Late Late Nite posts if i was still on dialup.
hey alicia
Someday at Christmas Stevie Wonder, age 17 (maybe)
All hail DSL, then, and the dizzying maladies that accompany it!
oh margot, that stevie wonder is great. thanks

Coise ya…! 8-P
I’m gonna be Home Alone Christmas night and will be spending it here at the Lake. Was thinking of that video for Tuesday’s Late Late Nite – what do ya think?
That’s the one!
Just caught Tim Russett’s hour with Ron Paul & have two questions – any new polls on Paul and could someone explain why Timmeth is still on the air?
With the two eldest on the Mainland, one in Grad school and the other visiting my Sis, we’re having a quiet Xmas, the first in quite some time…
I am going to the bride to be’s tomorrow day for dinner but will be back home in time for tomorrow nite’s late nite. I’ve learned to enjoy my Christmas at Home alone – the peace and quiet is nice after so many years of hectic holidays with kids, grandparents, aunts, uncles, scurrying from one relative to another trying to see them all.
Hi NPB!
I believe the charter of the National Broadcasting Network doesn’t stipulate as to the hackery-quotient of its “hosts”, and therefore is bound by no code of journalistic ethics, particularly since PunkinHead isn’t really a journalist.
*waving across monterey bay to npb* hope you see that through the fog
I coulda sworn he was Mr Potato Head… Being a Russet, err.. Russert…
Suz that Mary J. Blige song is fantastic. What a voice!
I bid ya’ll a fare-the-well! Aloha Oe!!!

ok folks, that’s it for me tonight. have a busy day tomorrow but will be here for late nite. g’nite all.
(((((SUZ!)))) Great to be home and give me ever loving fog any day – still thawing out from the midwest adventure. Baggage still missing and presumed lost. aghhhhhhhh!
PunkinHead it is dear Newton!
Sweet dreams Suze and other sleepy fdl late-late niters.
No new polls, but I’m having fun reading some of the critiques and defenses of Ron Paul, whose candidacy has had a positive impact on political discourse. Most of the attacks on him smack of guilt-by-association in their claims of racism, neo-naziism, and/or anti-semitism. Today, Justin Raimondo did an okay defense, but short of his best work.
Much more interesting is this Q&A critique of Paul’s economic and social policies and principles from Noam Chomsky. IMHO, that’s the level at which progressives should part ways with Paul and other libertarians. But meanwhile, they are eloquent allies on matters of foreign policy, constitutional freedoms, and the rule of law.
Appreciate the linkies wigwam – it IS fun reading the unfolding drama.
Forgot to say niters to you fine early Christmas Eve firedog insomniacs!
G’nite NPB.
nite npb. joining in on the sleepfest as well
Well there is plenty top critique about Paul’s obtuse support of the “Austrian School” of Economics with its fetishistic obsession with precious metals as a standard of currency value. But Paul and other libertarians have plenty of problems on the “Constitutional” front, as well. He’s only a Constitutionalist to the degree that it serves his arcane semi-libertarian viewpoint.
Look at Paul’s views on immigration, for example. Or on his view that conceptuses should have the same rights as a woman. I think Paul’s heritage can be traced back to isolationist values of a faction of the Republican Party during the 1930’s…the group associated with the right-wing populist Tub-Thumping Radio Talk host, Father Coughlan. Pat Buchanan also seems to come from that school.
Whether that shares any intellectual grounding with Noam Chomsky I’ll let others decide.
