i just signed up for basic cable tv, so i could get the c-span channels (instead of webstreaming them (and because it was mind blowingly cheap).

charter has c-span1 and c-span2. and here i was complaining about the lack of c-span3.

did i allready tell you-all about the deal charter has going? internet, voip phone (unlimited) and basic cable tv for 34.98/mo for 12 months.

I call Direc TV almost monthly with a request for cspan 3. Every time I get the feeling they have never been asked that by anyone else.

just got off the phone with baby girl (who shares a birthday with gen clark). she informed me that she learned that her birthday is also the same as joseph smith and that it is practically a holiday in utah. she hung up when i asked if that meant she got jello instead of birthday cake (but she was laughing when she did it)

OK learn me something. Why were people so upset with the Clarke thread? I guess my expectations were lower for a military guy in politics. He is from a very formal background and I just didn’t expect the guy to cut loose or anything. Am I stupid? Also, he was going to check back and write some more.

Busy day ahead here as Mrs. Bilbo and I prepare for our annual Festivus Eve open house. It’s one of the few things that actually motivate us to do a lot of house cleaning, so it’s probably a good thing that we do it each year.

Missed the Wes Clark book salon yesterday since we were away having dinner at a friend’s house. I certainly hope eCAHN comes back. Otherwise FDL will be the poorer for it.

Good answer! May I recommend Nabisco (forget how to do the tm thingy) Famous Chocolate Wafers. They’re bloody hard to find in this neck of the woods so I stock up when they magically appear in one of the stores and then freeze for future use. There’s a chocolate regrigerator roll recipe that people rave about (have never personally tried it) which is how I first learned of them. The down side is that they’ve become hideously expensive but totally fab when used as crust for key lime pie. YUM!

my $.02 – I thought eCAHN’s questions were aggressive, pointed (barbed?) – but in the end it made no difference because General Clark pretty much avoided answering any questions of substance. When he did come close to touching one, it was with banalities and meaningless cliches.

Lots of good, hard, intelligent questions asked yesterday – and I, for one, was extremely disappointed in both the ‘quality’ and lack of the responses. ymmv.

Good morning, pups. It’s MoDo, Friedman and Rich in the NYT today. MoDo is sharpening her claws on Democrats again. She says that if voting for Barack Obama is a roll of the dice, as Bill Clinton suggests, voting for Billary is a sure bet: an endless soap opera. Mr. Friedman is writing from Jakarta and says that we may be the first generation in human history that literally has to act like Noah — to save the last pairs of a wide range of species that are threatened with extinction. Mr. Rich says that no matter how much Hillary Clinton, John McCain or Rudy Giuliani brag about being tested and vetted, it’s not experience that will be decisive in determining the next president.

Just got back from that thread and do I ever agree with you! Also noted: 1) he apparently never came back again and 2) who the h*ll are “Arky” and “CCNLJM”? Don’t ever remember seeing those names at the Lake before (could just be lurkers) but appeared to be somewhat trollish, imho. All in all, an informative book club….in many respects. ;-(

just in case anyone thought eCAHN’s questions were over the top, please take a look at the mark penn thread… imo, her questions were completely appropriate and important to ask, and i thought it was very revealing that clark would not address them with anything more than empty platitudes.
