I think we’ve lost focus of the bigger picture by becoming entangled in a hopeless partisan, blame-game, and never-ending debate about the exact magnitude of pork barrel appropriations.

The fact of the matter is that earmarks are bad policy yet good politics. Every representative has the incentive to tack on his pet projects in order to boost his chances of reelection. All these party promises to curb pork barrel spending are pure rhetoric because nothing is being done to alter the incentives! The truth is that as long as the incentives to ‘earmark’ remain, this wasteful spending cannot be reduced or eliminated.

Hi Scarecrow, don’t forget: Bush hopes Russia remembers checks and balances in government. Happy Holidays!

PS (didn’t read all the comments, so forgive me if I repeated someone here…)

You may be right. I had questions about the guy also. He seems to help arguments on both sides. Googling his name reveals listings as an actor. They talk about him being retired, but unless he comes under some special provision, such as air traffic controllers, it requires age 55 with 35 years of service to retire from civil service positions.

20 Years of service for the military…so I suspect the CIA is similar. Lots of military people actually retire, and start up in another position (sometimes in the government). It’s called double dipping.

Regarding his “acting career” if you looked deeper you’d discover that he was a Consultant for the film “The Kite Runner”. He advised the Directors about military and intelligence activities in Afghanistan.

Of course, in his mind’s eye he could see Tom Brady throwing a perfect game, Randy Moss crushing home runs, and Boston Patriots Great…Babe Ruth…kicking the field goal to end the inning. And his Dad came down from the Press Box and awarded the winning team the famous Fondue Lac Trophy!

How many scandals does it take to fill Albert Hall?

4000 Scandals in Whitehouse, Cheneyshire…and though the scandals weren’t very small, we had to count them all.

It never ceases to amaze as to how dumbed down the general public has become along with the shear lack of realization as to why we find ourselves in the economic mess we’re in. Every elected offical in office today as well as those they appoint such as the Fed chairman as well as the Treasury secretary, all hold responibility for the economic morass that is now upon us. This bears repeating.
Central Banking and Capitalism go hand-in-hand? The answer is a resounding no!! To wrap one’s mind around this fact, they need look no further than the words and thought of Edward Mandell House, chief advisor of President Woodrow Wilson from 1913 to 1921. House was a Marxist whose goal was to socialize the Untied States. In 1912, House wrote the book “Philip Dru: Administrator” in which he stated that he was working for “Socialism as dreamed of by Karl Marx.” In this book, House laid out a plan for the conquest of America, telling how both the Democratic and Republican Parties would be controlled, and be used as instruments in the creation of a socialistic government. And he asked for the establishment of a state-controlled central bank, which were both proposed in “The Communist Manifesto”. And it was in 1913, during the very first year of the House-dominated Wilson Administration, that both of these proposals became law. The Federal Reserve Act was passed, which brought into power a private central bank to create the money of the United States, taking this power away from the united States Congress. And the 16th Amendment to the United States Constitution, the graduated income tax as proposed by Karl Marx, was also ratified. You see folks, Central Banking is, and always has been, a key tenet of Communism — not Capitalism.

This is reality. Now I ask you all; is it really any wonder that in a world increasingly dominated and controlled by the tentacles of Central Banking [i.e. the Federal Reserve] – that American jobs have been systematically outsourced, currency, institutions and our Constitution debased, all seemingly to the benefit of a Communist country – China? Makes you wonder what would have happened if the good guys had lost the Cold War, eh?

I saw on the captive-audience screen in the elevator in my building that Geoge is trying to blame Congress for budget problems. He, of course, thinks he’s reducing the deficit by cutting taxes.

This guy managed get into two colleges how? That kind of reasoning would be laughed at coming from just about anyone else over the age of about eight.

Though crediting activists for their “passion,” Pelosi called it “a waste of time” for them to target Democrats. “They are advocates,” she said. “We are leaders.”

Well, I only half agree with her. We are advocates (and activists); they are not leaders!
