Sorry, OT, but hoping someone can help me find a comment on a post I’m pretty sure was on FDL. It was about that crappy GOP parody of The 12 Days of Christmas and the comment outlined several basic rules of parody writing, which of course were all broken. Anyone remember that, here or on another lefty blog — possibly via Haloscan?

I especially like the part where “serious Rudy” suddenly “blows up” at the comment from the side (from Judy?) that simply says “A Fruitcake?”. It’s like he runs amok.

And then there’s that weird looking microsecond image of Rudy and Santa in a still shot…what subliminal element is in THAT? Suddenly we cut to Rudy LIVE with Santa, nearly on his lap.

This is one hell of a weirdly constructed political ad.

That’s very sad. I truly hope that there was no foul play.

It’s just one of the ways that Giuliani’s once-formidable front-running campaign has been off lately. He has been buoyed all year long by his post-9/11 celebrity, his strong debate performances and his outsized, tough-guy persona. The former mayor has undeniable leadership qualities - but now, as the primary race gets more serious, is having trouble making them fit the party he aspires to lead.

Giuliani is finally suffering from the natural gravitational pull of his messy personal life (as mayor, he had a publicly financed security detail for his mistress) and his ideological heterodoxy (especially on social issues). First of all I thought the Rudy video was…. whimsical.

Frnakly, I don’t care if he’s had an affair–that’s a matter for his wife to sort out. If she’s mad, that’s one thing. If she can live with it, it should be her choice.

BUT–if he is not the father, he can do himself a world of good by DEMANDING an immediate paternity test. When it comes out the right way, it will bullet proof him from a lot of future slime.
