“The former Arkansas governor told reporters in a conference call Wednesday that he hasn’t seen and probably won’t see the Flint, Mich. native’s documentary “Sicko,” which calls for an overhaul of America’s health care system.

“Frankly, Michael Moore is an example of why the health care system costs so much in this country. He clearly is one of the reasons that we have a very expensive system.

So, very typically Republican, he blames it on the sick people for setting health care costs so high.

Uh huh, yea…uh, no, can’t really see it.

Let’s say he did have GPS. So how could that be used against him?

Well, if I put on my Fetid Rovian Hat and think about it, here’s what I would do.

1) I would ferret out the info re surgery and keep a lid on it
2) I would mention publicly as often as possible how great it is that Huckster lost weight and about his book telling how it was all due to prayer, diet and exercise. Get the talking heads to ask him to tell about it.
3) Once as many voters as possible know about Huck’s weight loss and his book claiming how he did it, THEN I would leak the surgery info.

I just read that Huckabee lost 120 lbs. over a two-year period. That averages out to only 5 lbs. per month. If that’s accurate, that’s not what happens after gastric bypass surgery. The two people I know who’ve had the surgery lost more than 120 lbs. in less than a year. I give him the benefit of the doubt. On the surgery issue, anyway.

I am sick of Americans making false comparisons. Example: Huckabee and Clinton. Is Clinton’s sex life or Huckabee’s weight loss our business? No.

The bad part is Huckabee writing a book about his weight loss, and saying it was will-power, etc. This would be a lie. (How many Americans will read that book, try to lose weight, and fail, because of his blather?) That would be like Clinton writing a book about “the sanctity of marriage” — how you should NEVER cheat on your spouse, blah blah blah.

In short, get ALL the facts in.

Doctors can back me up on this, I hope. I have read that gastric bypass surgery carries significant increased risk mortality, and entails chronic health risks. By significant risk of mortality, I mean between 2%-10% chance of death in the first 2 years. The chronic problems stem in part from the inability of the body to get enough vitamins and minerals through food.
If any candidate has had gastric-bypass surgery, the public damn well has a right to know. As far as I’m concerned, such a candidate should be ruled out for health reasons at the get-go.

P.S. I tried to create a profile, but it didn’t take. Are profiles moderated?
Can anyone tell me?

the three are not mutually exclusive.

and i did have a bit of sympathy for her… but then there were her comments about the homeless and sanfran and the code pink protesters outside her house. and then there was the moveon condemnation, and the final straw was what she did to rep. stark - that was unforgivable.

hard to find excuses for all the bad policy decisions when she treats her supposed allies like shit.
