Hillary Clinton’s campaign was complimented for never making mistakes?
That seems like a long time ago doesn’t it? At least three of four weeks.
Former President Bill Clinton said Monday that the first thing his wife Hillary will do when she reaches the White House is dispatch him and his predecessor, President George H.W. Bush, on an around-the-world mission to repair the damage done to America’s reputation by the current president — Bush’s son, George W. Bush.
Will there be crying? Maybe John Boehner can go too so he and Poppy can do a duet?
First, I’m sure Bush père will happily go around the world to publicly acknowledge his namesake is a "gargantuan tool".
Second, I’m equally confident the Democratic voting base is delighted at the prospect of a Bush Family rehabilitation tour (i.e. Oligarchies have to stick together)
Third, I’m sure Hillary Clinton appreciates Bill making it look like the latter is calling the policy shots.
Here’s my suggestion for a Bush Rehabilitation tour.
1. Airplane
2. George W. Bush & Cheney
3. Two cages
4. Two shovels
5. Well-publicized itinerary
6. Halliburton can be awarded the rotten vegetable concession (sop to Republicans)
7. It starts in New Orleans

Please start that tour in NOLA. The turnout would be tremendous…
Morning, Attaturk. That was a really strange comment. But Bush must be dying of embarrassment. Didn’t do such a good job of parenting, did he. What did Bush Sr. do right again?
Good morning Attaturk.
Yes, I think the world will simply want to forget about Bushes as quickly as possible and for as long as possible. How about sending Al Gore instead (assuming he would be willing).
Oh yes, good morning attaturk, forgot my manners.
Article link says others would go w/Clinton & GHWB. Any suggestions besides Crybaby Boehner?
Good morning.
Democracynow doing interview with Muhammed Bushmila (sp?), one of the few high value detainees who has been released. He’s suing a subsidiary of Boeing that did the rendition, was tortured, etc.
hillary is a uniter, not a divider!
I always hated those dam cubicle dividers anyways.
I nominate Barbara “big Mom” Bush as line worker on the sanitation clean up crew.
He left after a single term…
Poppy should stick to his 90 minute 18 hole rounds of 40 mph cart golf and just zip it.
Face it, Poppy.
You sired the Worst President Ever.
Thanks a bunch.
Don’t forget that one of B Clinton’s foreign policy advisor’s was Nixon. Not a well publicized fact but a fact none the less. So why shouldn’t he look forward to a world tour with pappi bush?
Attatruk, I love your idea for the Bush Rehabilitation tour. And it absolutely positively has to start in New Orleans.
George will hijack that plane to Paraguay. He’s trying to locate that codpiece as I’m writing.
This is Hilary’s plan to win the primaries? Send a Bush with Bill to repair our image? Are there any moderate voters still out there who will be swayed to vote for her because the immensely *cough* popular Bahahaha! Bush 1 is willing to work for her?
Hasn’t Penn told her that just the name Bush has such high negative numbers associated with it that it could drag her down. Trianglulation worked for Bill because circumstances were different then.
You cannot win todays battle by fixing the mistakes of yesterday’s battle.
The voters are polarized about the war this election. The voters are paying attention to the issues, well more than they have since I’ve been alive.
Where have you been? Haven’t seen you around lately.
HA!
Interesting tidbit, that 98,840 acre Ranch in Paraguay that Bush bought himself… …it sits on one of the worlds largest freshwater aquifers.
If Bush isn’t serving a lengthy war crimes sentence he will be sitting pretty if the water runs out.
Is my tinfoil showing?
Bush 1 was a good student an athlete and ran a business granted set up with family money. He has a lot more in common with Bill and probably thinks of Bill as the son he wishes he had.
Bush 2 must be boiling in red hot jealousy right now.
Nixion was evil but a genius, as opposed to Dick who is just evil, and Bush 2 who is a moron.
More lurking than participating.
Went to fundraiser for Charlie Brown, running against John Dolittle in CA, in NYC last night.

tell us more, please
good morning, all… coffee is almost ready…
Last night I read something about this and thought, “gee, I wonder if Bill has had a couple little strokes?”
what could he be thinking?
On HRC and Bill’s plan to send out Bush 1 and Bill into the world, in addition to suggesting just how needy Bill is for love (remember all the juvenile flings) it also seems to be a ploy (like McCain-Lieberman) to get Independents and Rethugs onboard the Hillary bus. Shorter: without Hillary as POTUS, Bush 2 (and the Rethugs) will remain in the sub-basement in American minds for duration of the next century!
Linky no worky. Linky say:

Sorry, but you are looking for something that isn’t here.
Okay, found it.
UPDATE: The Republican National Committee issued this statement in response to Clinton’s comments:
“In 2009, a Republican president will be working with our friends and allies abroad to continue to keep our nation safe,” said RNC spokesman Danny Diaz. “The American people expect our leaders — both current and former — to present serious solutions to the very real challenges confronting our nation.”
There’s your bipartisanship!
ot – here’s a few from this week’s list of congressional hearings (details and full list):
Tuesday, 1 pm – House Judiciary
Hearing on H.R. 4175, the “Privacy and Cybercrime Enforcement Act of 2007”
Tuesday, 2:30 pm – Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation
To hold hearings to examine oil spills from non-tank vessels, focusing on threats, risks, and vulnerabilities.
Wednesday, 10 am – House Foreign Affairs
Oversight Hearing: The Extension of the United Nations Mandate for Iraq: Is the Iraqi Parliament Being Ignored?
Wednesday, 10:15 am – House Judiciary
Hearing on “Enforcement of Federal Criminal Law to Protect Americans Working for U.S. Contractors in Iraq”
Thursday, 10 am – House Judiciary
Hearing on Applicability of Federal Criminal Laws to the Interrogation of Detainees
oops! here’s the missing link for details and full list for this week’s congressional hearings list.
Why aren’t more people questioning what is really behind this cozy relationship between big Bubba Clinton and patrician Poppy Bush, and what it all might mean should Hillary, aka America’s Eva Peron, become president.
been listening too.
one not to be missed.
House Judiciary is busy this week, huh? Conyers and Kennedy are also pushing for a special prosecutor on the missing torture tapes too.
One simple comment. These people (bush & clintons) are really out of touch!
I see that McCain & JoeLie have a big splashy photo on the front page of the L.A. Times, dead tree version.
Alighting from the Straight Talk Express bus they are…
They changed it a bit.
It’s updated and should work now.
Thanks.
What is wrong with America? If Clinton really said this (that he and Pappy Bush will make a tour of the world to “repair the damage”), it is astounding.
Say what you will about Bill, he has hoodwinked most Americans (as Reagan did before him).
Sure! Pappy will go around the world to tell what a failure his son was. I have a bridge to sell you ….
Most of America’s “good will” around the world comes from $$$$ it will give countries. Don’t WE need that money?
And in the meantime, Jimmy Carter still gets a bum deal. You know, he only actually DOES good things, rather than glad-hand Americans. I swear — Americans are like tiny children. They never THINK — only react to goofy lines like “Which president would you rather have a beer with?” Do they STILL not GET it? Or are they just too ashamed (for having fallen for that) to admit that they did?
Charlie Brown is a retired Air Force Lt. Colonel. There were only about a dozen folks there, mostly Kossacks. Jay Ackroyd arranged it. He occassionally comes over here which is how he got in touch with me. He said that others he contacted who couldn’t attend, sent contributions. The nut was $50.
I talked with Chralie mainly about the Air Force Academy because I was interested in whether it was a wingnut religious as I had read. He said it was, and tried to give me a history about how it got that way, but the pieces didn’t tie together for me. Something about youngness of institution (so it had no military tradtion to fall back on), requirment for all students to attend chapel, architecturally unusual chapel ( http://www.greatbuildings.com/…..hapel.html ) attracting tourists, locals attracting megachurches as part of its development project, conflicting ideas at academy about whether they were training military or commercial pilots, & several other pieces. You can see that I never quite got to how it all came together in the mess that it is now.
Charlie seems like a very clean cut (think central casting commercial pilot) with his heart & head in the right place. We did touch on a few other topics briefly related to foreign military adventures & torture. He seems like a good candidate whom we shold back. Told him I’d speak to him at a future date on FDL.
Talked with a couple of Kossacks, who were nice, interesting people, very knowledgeable about all the stuff we talk about here.
The event was in a bar, and C-SPAN2 was on all the TV screens (sound muted). It was pretty funny, so I asked the bartender when was the last time C-SPAN2 was up in the bar. He grinned at me & said he’d never even heard of it before. One of Brown’s aides got the news on his Blackberry about Reid’s pulling the FISA legislation while we were there, so there were whoops & cheers & toasts.
Nice event.
thanks for the link.
now if they will just start writing letters formally requesting a special prosecutor – as rush holt has…. fingers crossed.
Thanks, Atta!
thank you for the report.
really makes ‘em look like a couple old geezers, doesn’t it?
You’re welcome.
Does this Yemeni seems surprisingly articulate to you?
Natural lighting, no makeup. Yes indeedy.
I think Charlie Brown has been here with Howie.
Yeah, he has. But he’ll be back again, I’m sure. Always fun to meet these folks in person.
New bumper sticker: “Thank God 4 Chris Dodd”
Where does the NYT mention Dodds victory?
yes.
and someone who has either been coached on how to answer the questions – or who has been debriefed by experts who advised the detailed approach when dealing with the media. the aclu is involved, so this is not an impossibility. i confess that i would be very wary if the aclu was not involved.
or, i am biased by the myth of american cultural superiority.
?
thank you, that was interesting. Glad you went!
you’re right Loo Hoo, he’s been here before
Here is Charlie Brown from February, 3 2007
CIA and FBI are having a bit of a disagreement:
Looking at other evidence, including a serious head injury that Abu Zubaida had suffered years earlier, Coleman and others at the FBI believed that he had severe mental problems that called his credibility into question. “They all knew he was crazy, and they knew he was always on the damn phone,” Coleman said, referring to al-Qaeda operatives. “You think they’re going to tell him anything?”
Tenet disagreed, writing in his book that CIA psychiatrists concluded that Abu Zubaida “was using a sophisticated literary device to express himself” in the diary, which was “hundreds of pages” long.
WaPo
…and Bush 2 who is a moron
The top 1% think he’s f***ing brillant, and the lobbyists praise him daily. I consider him along the lines of a idiot savant whose goal is to destroy the middle class and the rise of the annuit coeptis Oligarchy. Bush’s accomplishments: redistribution of the middleclass wealth amongst the 1%, restricting civil liberties, signing statements, secrecy, emptying the US Treasury to his buds, IOU notes left in Social Security, no bid contracts, bumper crop of poppies in Afghanistan, high energy prices/increase of profits for oil buds, perpetual war; Haliburton/KBR send their thanks, CAFTA, middleclass is one paycheck away from bankruptcy due to supporting the economy and liquidating their home equity for SUV’s, vacations, credit card debt. Heck, it’s been 7 f***ing glorious years of expotential wealth for the 1%, and the party won’t end if Hillary makes it into office.
As for Bill Clinton, whoever said they must be out of touch is the only thing I can think. He was so in touch when he was in charge, but has become singularly tone death during his wife’s campaign. Probably some emotional thing interfering with clear thinking. Probably more worried about her than he was about himself when he was in the crosshairs.
My late husband got very involved in advising me in my career at one point, and was a control freak, as I’m sure Bill Clinton is. It wasn’t pretty. I have some feeling for what might be going on.
Hillary is losing traction, her comments seem so canned and BS and
Well, it will be interesting to watch how this goes thru the courts. I agree with you on the coaching, but the other side will do same, so more power to our coaches, I suppose.
I looked this morning. I went to the front page and finally found it by clicking through to Washington and scrolling all the way down the page to:
Democrats Delay a Vote on Immunity for Wiretaps
Don’t know what page in the physical paper.
insincere.
She might very well lose this. Who wants GHWB, the CIA guy with blood on his hands back in DC.
Please retire and remain invisible if you can.
Bob & Carol & Ted & AliceGeorge & Laura & Bill & HillaryDODD
Department of Democratic Defense!
Gotta love it.
Are they going to advertise a special next January when FISA gets debated again, or perhaps for the State of the Union?
*g*
Two of the Kossacks at the Charlie Brown fundraiser last night had gone to Hillary’s breakout session at Yearlykos last summer. Neither was going to vote for her in the primaries (one was Edwards, didn’t ask who the other one was for), but both came out of the session with more favorable impressions than when they entered. One said she was much more human than when you see her thru the media, the other was impressed by her incredible smarts and control of the issues.
yes. in fact, imo, everyone needs coaching when dealing with the media. it is not wrong to advise someone to practice, to provide detail etc.
the coaching becomes a problem with people are taught to dissemble.
You don’t mean lie do you? I thought the current vocabulary was ‘reality creation.’
Amazing Dont they think it was news? Yesterday the had a front page piece about how we had lost and the Tel-coms won.
Rasmussens new poll shows HRC with the highest negative’s of any candidate. 40% of respondents would vote against her. Clinton leads “Anti” vote
I hope my fellow Democrats will consider this fact when selecting their primary candidate.
I think what it means is that Bush 41 is really getting tired of Dubya trashing the family name, but he can’t come right out and say it to the media.
But I can picture him and Bill, chatting on the phone — Bush in a wood-paneled library, with cognac in hand; Bill in a basement rec room watching a video . . .
BC: Hey, George, how about that last press conference? He he he . . .
GHWB: Oh, give me a break.
BC: No, really — have you seen the reviews from Great Britain? France? Australia? Oh, and don’t forget Poland.
GHWB: All I can say is you better hope Chelsey never runs for office.
BC: Naw – I’m not worried. She could never hold a candle to what your boy’s doing to the family name.
GHWB: I can’t stand it. It’s “Bush turned the world against America. Bush killed thousands of Iraqis.” “Bush did this and Bush did that . . .” This is how we Bushes are going to be rememebered? I’ve got to do something — anything — to repair the family image.
BC: Well, I’ve got an idea . . .
Fed Shrugged as Subprime Crisis Spread
….when Mr. Gramlich privately urged Fed examiners to investigate mortgage lenders affiliated with national banks, he was rebuffed by Alan Greenspan, the Fed chairman.
In 2001, a senior Treasury official, Sheila C. Bair, tried to persuade subprime lenders to adopt a code of “best practices” and to let outside monitors verify their compliance. None of the lenders would agree to the monitors, and many rejected the code itself.
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/12…..ei=5087
Hmmmmmm, can’t wait for the avalanche of shoes dropping on Greenspan’s head; unregulated Hedge funds/managers and derivatives. Will the media ever refer to the subprime mortgage disaster of the poor and middleclass, a premeditate calculated plan of the Federal Reserve?
lol.
i’m a modernist wannabe stuck in a post modern world.
Lichtblau was on wnyc’s Brian Lehrer show yesterday, and dismissed the Dodd effort as meaningless. That was before Dodd got started, but I guess when the NYT meme is set, they’re not going to back away in the face of facts.
http://www.wnyc.org/shows/bl/e…..ents/90554
BTW, Norman Podhoretz is going to be on the show today. Don’t know which slot, but show goes from 10-12 and you can listen at wnyc.org.
Bush Sr. has got to repair the Bush brand as quickly as possible for Jeb.
imo, it ought to be newsworthy that a senator (feingold), while making a statement on the senate floor, accused the administration of repeated lying to the senate about national security matters and no one objected.
Somewhere yesterday I read a good post about how Hillary’s negatives are probably so high because she’s been in the public (wingnut) crosshairs for so long. As a thought experiment, think of how high Obama’s might be if he had a long a history as she. Think there’s some truth in that.
Very well could be. However Obama’s negatives were high as well about 11% according to the article. Edwards, Dodd, Richardson, Biden, Kucinich did not even register in the poll. On a positive note, Guilanni led for the GOP with 30% negative.
Stick a fork in Rudy.
Another Milestone on the Road to Serfdom
For months, the Bush Administration has waged a high-profile campaign, including personal lobbying by President Bush and closed-door briefings by top officials, to persuade Congress to pass legislation protecting companies from lawsuits for aiding the National Security Agency’s warrantless eavesdropping program. But the battle is really about something much bigger. At stake is the federal government’s extensive but uneasy partnership with industry to conduct a wide range of secret surveillance operations in fighting terrorism and crime….What Lichtblau, Risen and Shane are describing is the dawn of a new National Surveillance State in the United States, a public-private partnership. And the object of this partnership—which emerges as a criminal conspiracy, quite literally, between telecom companies and the Bush Administration…

Just left the following comment over at Brian Lehrer in anticipation of his Podhoretz interview:
Luv that Scott Horton.
A fork? This guy hit him with the whole silverware drawer.
Now look at him. A legend in his own mind.
from april’s dem primary presidential debate:
my bold.
i hope clinton wasn’t trying to say that hedge funds are well regulated. that’s absurd.
yup. he’s all done.
*waving hello*
So did you expect us to make a contribution while we visited the site? *g*
Funny you should mention New Orleans. This morning I woke up and vowed that everytime teh pukes invoke 9/11, I’m gonna yell New Orleans!!!!!!
i agree.
i also don’t think that clinton is particularly fake or cold. actually the opposite.
that said, i am so not a fan.
Selise, that is a brilliant keeper. Hillary should be asked about that quote at every single debate.
That picture is too funny! especially used there.
Nah, just get his hopes up with a lil traffic, hehe.
So I see you’re toasting with some new friends huh. ;-)
I’ll bet they’ll drag Jebby along for the Bush Rehabilitation Tour…He can be the treasurer.
we can inspire and incentivize people to take those risks
Bubba’s good friend Mr. Greenspan done incentivized them risks gud!
that was when i was still listening to the debates. i’m still recovering from the shock of that one.
Time to open the windows, change the sheets, and sanitize the room, the Clintons have been in bed with the investment banks since Bill’s presidency. Don’t get me started on their best buds, Greenspan and Robert E. Rubin.
I told Jay Ackroyd when I met him that he should have advertised the event here more. I would also have emailed my NYC area FDLers list if he’d asked. We were both just cautious about imposing ourselves on the process. If there are future Blue America events around here, I won’t be so shy.
Liver & loin, as the butcher said.
I was gonna say “booorrrrring.” But that’s wrong. The Wednesday HJ hearing looks interesting as does the Wednesday FA @ 10:00. I’d like to know more about the Iraqi Parliament. Very important. The Thursday 10:00 HJ hearing is important, too.
I looked at NYT website and there’s no link to a story on reid pulling the FISA bill. There’s somerthing there someplace, Elliot? Coverage = Atrocious.
Funny that he didn’t list his GED (Ghouliani’s Ex Driver) in the Heroism and Distinguished Service list.

Review of Ownership Rules
Kevin Martin chairs an Open Meeting of the Federal Communications Commission. A review of broadcast ownership rules is one of the items on the FCC’s agenda. The Commissioners also considers competition in the mobile services market, minority participation in the broadcasting industry, and other issues.
very light week of hearings this week – maybe one third the typical number.
It’s on the National and Washington pages.
btw selise, I set up a digg for newtonusr’s Kennedy videos (you titled it ;)
selise at 3:52 am “i’m starting the day with teddy kennedy’s most excellent senate floor statement on fisa yesterday – youtube from newtonusr”

Yes there is.

Checked to see what Malkin was screeching about this a.m. “House guts border fence.” That’s lead post-worthy, huh? At least she has priorities. They’re stupid. But she got ‘em.
Atta boy, Ataturk; We need all the reminders of how politically “savvy” is La Clinton that we can get. :o)
Some of this HAS to be making it into the ken of the Iowa caucusers. And the New Hampshire people, as well.
Anybody got any more shots of her holding joint press-conferences with Joe Lieberman, 4 days before he endorses a republican for prez?
:o) :o) :o)
lol.
seriously though, thanks for the reminder – i’ve now dugg it too (i had rated it and favorited it in youtube) but digg is better. hope lots of people see it.
WRT telecommunications, saw this in today’s Federal Register…not sure what it’s about:
Beefart; Michelle knows a good, malodorous, red-herring…being used to cover the smell of decaying human flesh in Iraq, when she sniffs one.
BTW; I like DaddyBush crying in front of the Florida legislature, waaayyy better than in Clinton-sponsored rehab, at taxpayer expense. And, I bet the voters’ will, too. :o)
Rehabilitate Hell!
The first thing the new president should do is frog-march the current one to the Hague to be tried for war crimes.
This headline over at The Huffington Post was laughable, and I had a hard time keeping breakfast down.
Bill Clinton: Bush Sr Will Help President Hillary
Maybe it’s me, but isn’t it time to put the final nail in the coffin of the Bush/Clinton/Bush dynasty? In just what he accomplished yesterday, Senator Dodd is a standout. Return the country to the rule of law under the Constitution and steady our foundation rather than piling more garbage on a foundation of quicksand. Just a thought.
I think you are correct. Everyone has pretty much developed a polarized position of Clinton. The critical thing is how many of those are Democrats who would never vote for her. Because if the 40% are Republicans then she might very well get the remainder. Some of those are Democrats who would “hold their nose”.
If a good number of those polarised voters who would refuse to vote for her are Democrats then she might still win (perhaps by even more than if they were all Repugs). Because that would mean SOME Republicans would consider her…and those Democrats that didn’t would likely simply “sit out” rather than vote for a Republican like Giuliani, Romney or Huckabee.
And it’s likely that the “Wouldn’t Vote For” ratings of other Democratic candidates would go up when the Republican attack machine swings into motion. That machine might be weakened this year, due to reduced contributions to the RNC, but I think if Edwards was the nominee, for example, you’d see a lot of $$$ flowing into the eventual Republican nominees coffers (and various PACs) from corporate America.
I bet Kerry had very low “Would not vote for” ratings UNTIL he became the nominee. Then he became the devil incarnate.
Cinnamon; corporate money is going to count less in this election than any in a long, long, time.
And if it flows to Mitt, or Huck, or Giuliani; Edwards, if he’s nominated, will delight in pointing it out to the voters. :o)
