newtonusr -

More than a few times here; seems I’ve tried all variations of posting linkys and most of them have gone belly-up…but, hey, ain’t gonna sit here and whine when it *does* work.

Suz -

I just ordered a bicycle from the lady who owns the business; it no longer shows up b/c she takes down the photos as they are sold. Kind of her so people won’t drool over what got away. The bike is what is classified as a “mechanical” ie. has one or more moving parts…pedals are supposed to turn as well as the handle bars. Can’t wait ’til it gets here - Christmas present to myself. *g*

Blub - on “conservative” San Diego — you’re absolutely right. Orange County is more “fairly” characterized as conservative due to very creative gerrymandering, but by and large San Diego is pretty damn liberal.

Yeah, I was absolutely flabbergasted and astounded by Bonifligio’s response. Even the most rapacious company would try to sound conciliatory in his position.. even Enron would’ve said “Well, we’ll redouble our efforts to work with the communty and give them what they want” or at least “we’ll try to address their concerns” and do nothing, of course… instead, he just explicitly blew ‘um off and told ‘um he’s gonna go over their heads…. that his prospective neighbors are simply beneath his notice or consideration.

And when you consider that Blackwater paid out hundreds of thousands in handouts (read, bribes) to local residents in the aftermath of the fires, it really says something that they still told him to go packing. Potrero is a desperately poor community with high unemployment, that could’ve really used any jobs Blackwater would’ve provided. Instead, they had the guts and moral conscience to get up and say “No.” I salute them.

I do object to the characterization that San Diego is a very conservative community. If you look at the actual figures for the city itself, it’s no more conservative than the other major California metros. The issue is that there’s an entrenched old boy’s culture of ruling rethugs, and two very conservative suburban belts (the north and to the east). The city itself, and surrounding heavily urbanized areas, is Democratic, and represented by Susan Davis and Bob Filner, both consistently progressive-voting members of our parties (although, like most of our party, they both failed us on the war enabling vote yesterday).

As far as the link working… it’s a known Mac html/FDLPress bug - most of the time the link looks wrong when tried from Preview, but it posts correctly. And once in a while, it posts badly, but I have only seen it a few times.

Is that so when you run firefox on a Mac? I’m a big fan of firefox ’cause it works across platforms and is a bit more virus resistant than IE.

newtonusr / tw3k -

Well, wizard! Don’t know whether to spit or laugh ’cause it sure wouldn’t work in preview. If you click back to the full collection, there’s also a revolver, judge’s gravel and a jail. Suz could put together a whole “law and order” bracelet; if you wanted to stretch a point, also an hour glass to mark “time served”. *G*
