Stick Magnetic Ribbons on Your SUV by The Asylum Street Spankers.
The response to We Fight Back and We Fight Back II has been phenomenal with over 160 submissions. Your selections ran the gamut from rap to opera with very respectable representation of rock and folk.
We did not want to leave you humming the thinking music from Jeopardy while Eureka Springs and I tried to whittle the submissions down to a more easily managed number. We want the list to reflect what you felt absolutely positively should be included in the upcoming vote.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to submit the names of your top 3 choices in the comments on this thread.
The accounting firm of Grabbin, Cash, & Runsfast will begin the tabulation of this semi-final round starting at 3pm (Pacific) Friday afternoon. The videos listed most often in this comment thread will be among the finalists. Grabbin, Cash are an old fashioned paper and pencil firm and not very computer savvy. Links confuse them, so please help by including the names of the songs and artists in your comments. All eligible submissions can be found in the comments of We Fight Back and We Fight Back II .
As always, feel free to chime in with snark, news, or whatever else might be on your mind. This is Late Late Nite, where off topic is always encouraged. Actually, while we're thinking about it, here's a completely different way to lend your own voice of protest to a cause that affects us all.

Most excellent choice of accounting firms. Left you one final note downstairs.
Thanks, waccamaw, i got references from some of my GOP friends. i wanted this to be a bi-partisan protest vote.
thanks suzanne.
Can I put one more in the soup? I like this version of American Tune.
Hi Suzanne,
I’ve been bounced out three times just trying to see anything here on Late Late Nite. Is it me?
Christine
Can I still submit songs? I was just getting started!
christine, you might need to dump your cache and see if that helps.
Just stopping by to say “Hiya, Pups!” for a few minutes. ETette coming in for the holidays from college later, so we’re sorta cleaning house. As if she’ll care….
Margot and mommybrain, submissions are closed. however, lay what you got on us. you had great songs both nights and i’m hoping some of them make the final tally.
i was gonna use this one in a post but i saw TGNB put it up late last nite.
Glad to see ya found these guys.
Guantanamera
The Sandpipers
Bring Them Home Pete Seeger
No Man’s Land Dropkick Murphys
ET, she’s gonna want an empty washer/dryer and a full fridge and pantry.
Doesn’t anyone have 3 favs? My personal favorites list has been whittled down from over 160 to 34.
I was thinking I have to include Neil Youngs Impeach the President and Dixie Chicks Not Ready to Make Nice. Oh, and the John Prine Flag Decal and the John Lennon and how do I pick just one Dylan or one CSNY?

figures. I’m just waiting for shrub to invoke the state security rule on the poor girl and declare her case unlitigatable.
ET, she’s gonna want an empty washer/dryer and a full fridge and pantry.
She rents a house with four friends, so the washer/dryer thing is covered. I think she’ll come home with an empty suitcase full of hopes. As for the appetite, we’re eating a lot of red meat NOW, ’cause she and pretty much all her college’s - Western Washington University - womens crew team has gone veggie.

yeah, newton. tougher than eureka springs and i thought it would be. we had no idea we would get so many videos and that every dang one of them was good and deserved a front page post as a winner.

Suz -
Can’t watch vids so preview options are limited; gotta go with what I know:
Waist Deep in the Big Muddy (Dylan?)
The Times They Are A’Changin’
Not Ready to Make Nice (from the newer ones) (Dixie Chicks)
Daymn, hard choices there; managed to whittle it down to five so the above are a pick n’ pull in no particular order.
Track pad had decided to take one of its wonky nites (and the mouse ain’t happy either) so I’m outta here. Go well, gang.
PS - Oh, bells, Suz -
Forgot to make a note of artists as requested so filled in as best memory serves; hope you can still use them…too tired to go back and fight with the tpad.
I loved Manu Chao in concert singing his anthem - Clandestino
If FISA fizzles tomorrow, I am going to have a new new late entry unfit for print.
thanks, sleep well and hope your mouse gets happy balls again.
One Old: For What Its Worth
One New: American Idiot
One Dylan too: Masters of War
If FISA fizzles tomorrow, I am going to have a new new late entry unfit for print.

Feel Lke I’m Fixin To Die Rag - Country Joe McDonald
Your Flag Decal Won’t Get you into Heaven Anymore - John Prine
Damn, it’s hard to pick only three.
Evenin’ all !
Hi Suzanne, good luck with the tally. No matter what wins, we need to play ‘em louder and more often!
Good night.
Did we decide whether, Pink - Dear Mr. President is a protest song or not? it’s new to me and quickly becoming a favorite.
I say “hell yes, it’s a protest song!”
But that’s just me. :)
Gawd, I can’t remember the submissions but I’m sure these 3 are there:
Blowing in the Wind - Dylan
The Revolution will not be Televised - Gil Scott-Heron
Fight the Power - Public Enemy (not sure if this is on the list, if it’s not then my vote goes to, umm, Country Joe - Fixin to die rag.)
Hi, Petro!
Hiya Suz, how many entries have you had for “Impeach The President” ?
How ya doin’ ?
It’s a protest song, Eureka, and my favorite right now…
Yeah, yeah - CSNY, Country Joe, Joan and Bruce… but-
Pink - Dear Mr. President
Linkin Park - Hands Held High
Peter Yarrow and Richie Havens (song by PP & M) - The Great Mandala
In”honor” of the cowardly Chimp:
“Tie a Yellow Gibbon ‘Round the Old Oak Tree”
back from walking the cutest dog in the world in the friggin 32.9 degree weather. as soon as my fingers thaw out, i’ll note the fav’s ya’ll did while i was gone.
Newt, I FB-ed you.
Oh right, you’ve yet to do the final count … I’ll add my vote to my compatriot for “Impeach The President”.
meh, that’d mean bush was more than a meatpuppet.
fuk his cold slab
This isn’t a protest song, but you might want to bookmark it for later. It’s Mike Malloy reading the Declaration of Independence. It will be the most beautiful 9 minutes you’ll ever spend on youtube.*

Good God in Heaven, how did it ever come to this?
Um … that’s not what your neighbors tell us … *g*
The White House has threatened a veto.
i see the bully in chief is still having his tantrum. lard have mercy on us.
lol!
Well, it seems to have worked on Harry & Nancy …
Even more surprising is how Congress has capitulated to his tantrums instead of smacking his derriere with the Constitution.
harry & nancy are gonna find out just how mad we can get. they wanna sell us out? we will just have to replace them. vote them out of the game and replace them with spines of steel progressives.
i’m mad as hell and i’m not the only one who is.
