Yesterday SEIU local 99 in Los Angeles fired Chris Lehane as a result of his decision to work as a strike buster for the AMPTP against the WGA.
They just sent a statement to Markos:
Change to Win had a general consulting contract with Chris Lehane. That contract was terminated upon discovery of his role supporting the studios in the writers guild strike. As you know, Change to Win and its affiliates stand solidly behind the writers in their struggle for fairness, so we did not think twice about this decision.
Lehane clearly sees himself working for companies that need someone to spin their way through corporate greed and unsafe working conditions. It's really great to see unions hanging together to hold him accountable for the amorality of these relationships and kick him over to the corporatist side of the aisle where he belongs.
You can send an email to the network executives in charge of your favorite shows and tell them to return to the negotiating table here.

Good for Change to Win.
It’s great to see unions coming together quickly to toss Lehane to the curb. Nothing like a traitor to get people banding together.
Moral of the story: Chris Lehane needs to quit trying to play both sides of the street.
Today’s enhanced FDL features regarding new/next/previous posts are most welcome.
I was on a conference call a few weeks ago with Lehane about voters rights and issues; he seemed sane then.
Too bad he went firmly over to the dark side.
Indeed! Let’s hear it for the techies and the mods!
Yojimbo, For A Few Dollars More, Last Man Standing, and now Lehane.
Notice the decline in quality that comes with repetition of the storyline.
and incline of misery
Mr. Lehane learning the Law of Unintended Consequences, ya think?
Another opportunity to say, Good Riddance.
Psssst, confidential to the Anti-Net Neutrality Stalkers…object lesson in play.
Here’s my Christmas present to everyone. Please share liberally. Yes, shameless blogwhoring but, it is still the best present available, and you make it yourself.
Nobody could have anticipated that unions would dump a traitor, right? If these are unintended consequences, then Lehane is the bonehead of the week.
No sense in Unions contributing to wingnut welfare.
Long time lurker, first time poster.
The set-up for contacting the executives for a given TV show is excellent. Alas, the only show I’ve actually watched in over a decade–Battlestar Galactica–is listed, but isn’t actually airing right now. (There are some, like The West Wing and Buffy, I’ve discovered via DVD after they went off the air)
I am, however, not watching ANY broadcast or cable television right now. I’m not going to see anything in the theaters, and I’m not going to buy, for myself or as christmas gifts, any DVD’s until the strike is resolved. I’ve got plenty of DVD’s I already own on hand, and that and Netflix should tide me over.
Any suggestions on the best way to communicate this to the appropriate persons within the appropriate organizations?
This is a very good step. He is not the Democratic consultant with this problem. It’s always excused as just work.
I’d like to start with the Dems in California who crossed over to cash in with the groper. But I’m sure each area has its own Quislings.
Until recently, I had no idea who Chris Lehane was. Now I know who he is…a paid tool for union-busting management.
welcome sjh1. glad you de-lurked.
OT: House up tomorrow to vote on an authorization bill for one humane standard of treatment for all US detainees (in other words, stopping CIA torture). Human Rights First will send your message to your rep when you fill in these blanks.
Good start sjh1 and welcome to the lake.
You already hit em in the pocketbook, nice touch.
Maybe the AMPTP. Tell them what you said here.
Then wish em a Happy Holiday.
Laura, your link does not work for me…
Worked fine for me…
Be still my heart!
linky
Hmm…preview doesn’t show linky working. Think it was at C&L; Maddow’s done a test….bye, bye, Tucker?
linky no worky.
*swoon* Rachel… and good riddance to Tucker…
Jane and others (semi OT but on Unions). I am sure you have been following the private firefighters working in California. Part of this is anti-union (i.e. to get communities on board with hiring firefighters as private contractors). Also it serves to show government as “not workable.” Finally, especially with fires, there is the issue of self-interest. Evidence suggests that hundreds of the recent Ca. fires were started by individuals. What is to stop the companies promoting these private firefighters from starting fires for self interest. All around this is a very bad deal, and is yet one more topic we need to be on top of.
Also for what it is worth, the last two days I have frequently had a hard time logging on here, and having the “leave your response” box show up. I am here now, obviously, but wonder if anyone else has had the same problems.
Logging on-if you don’t log off when you leave you don’t have to log on when you come back.
Chris Lehane is like a double agent, can’t be trusted by either side. He reflects Democrats inability to see a consultant that works both sides. The signs must have been there when they hired him. It reflects badly on them.
In the old days, Chris would be called the lowest of the scabs. He’s lucky it isn’t the old days because union busters were identified and the next time they crossed the street, well, let’s just say they didn’t make it across. If on the docks, oops, the cable broke and the container just fell, on top of, by accident.
Today, unions are benign. Lucky for Chris.
I think I need a union pass to get in. Is anyone else having trouble?
Some of them, but certainly not hundreds (it might reach to hundreds in an entire year). Not a new problem, either: Santa Ana conditions tend (for some reason) to bring out the firebugs, and they like starting fires, even when it’s not intended to be big. Consider that it’s still news when it’s done by someone who’s supposed to be fighting them.
OT: Howdy CTuttle….responding to your scene idea from the Dec 7 story comments. Unless you’ve heard from someone else about it, I’m on it. Thank you!
(And of course, you’d get a writing credit!)
Heh, Mahalo! At least somebody is reading it… *g*
OT
More speculation on Lott’s resignation.

Perhaps you are thinking of Howard Wolfson, cmpaign manager for Hillary. He is paid by Verizon to help Sen. Toobz Stephen to oppose net neutrality. He also bashes Obama every chance he gets. I wish we could send him back to the neo-con lobbying firm Glover Park on K-Street.
I’ll let you know if something comes of it. We’ll make it viral!
Two so called Democrats, this Demo finds very distasteful, are this man Lehane and Mark Penn.
Citizen Frank33:
Send ‘im back with Barak O’Lieberman and his U of Chicago hoodlums.
Jane has a new post upstairs. Is the new-article-has-been-posted thingy not working down here?
I do not like any Wolfson’s tactics against any Democrat. Whatever people think of Obama, Wolfson is not a Democrat. Norske, I usually do like your articulate verbal artillery.
Those posers at the University of Chicago do not scare me. /s
netflix is just another distribution outlet for entertainment.
whether you watch a tv show the night it is first aired on the big networks, or wait 6 months down the road and watch it at your leisure on netflix, the writers (as well as actors and below the line employees) getting whatever money they get thru the contract negotiated w/the amptp.
if the amptp refuses to negotiate w/the writers, it not only hurts tv viewing in the very short run (look for reruns next month, folks) but it will hurt netflix viewers (and film goers) in about a year.
meanwhile, skippy walks the wga picket line on star trek day (w/pix of celebs!)
