Suzanne!
Suz, this is becoming a habit! ;-)
Hail, Muse Suzanne! Dos.
Suzanne!!
Nope! “Missed it by that much, Chief!”
Or so.
I told ‘em, Suzanne…
Would you believe…?
Hi there Suzanne! (and g’nite everyone).
Hi Suz! Check you out, girl! You are Late-Night Stylin’!
Old George would need his mouth stitched shut to keep from lying.
I could donate some thread.
Hey Suzanne.
I brought cookies, but they’re downstairs or in whatever direction that other thread is from here.
I tried, bring ‘em on gal!
I left ya a note…
Well, I switched to Firefox, and it seems to have taken care of the scrolling problem discussed on previous thread. Which brings up the question, why don’t I use Firefox all the time? Except for habit, I guess the answer is that I have so many bookmarks on Internet Explorer. Does anyone know a shortcut for transferring bookmarks from IE to Firefox? (rather than copying the URLs all down laborously by hand, typing them in on FF, and hoping I get all the characters right).
You know, I have to be at work seven hours. This is too funny.
On the Mac, Firefox provides an import function in the Bookmarks list, under “Organize Bookmarks”…
sliding back into the Lake.. sorry folks. I was cussing at PGE something fierce to get me off candles and my power back on - forking wind and rains and trees don’t mix well.
welcome back suzanne!
How’s the computer working, Suz? Phone line?
Hey Suz!
Thx, CT. I love Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. I sincerely hope the Fissure D eruption neither flows over Pahoa, nor causes the island’s entire south flank to slough off into the crushing depths, causing a mega-tsunami in the process like the one that deposited coral at the 1000′ elevation of which island was it, Ni’ihau?
But that’s just ‘cuz I’m such a basically sunny person.
When you sign up for Firefox, there’s a prompt that asks if you want to import your bookmarks and stuff.
Anyone seen TRex lately?
I love Jonny Lang.
Suz, Tex, hi everyone!
computer and phone line are fine, loohoo. trees are going down all over the mt from the winds and the rain.
dayam, i need coffee. my cup went cold while the power was off.
Looks like a diversionary tactic about to be proposed by the GOP.
Senate Republicans to call for probe of Iran intel
The Washington Post
How about a war crimes trial.
http://www.iamtrex.com/
establish a commission to hide the dirt under the rug?
(spitting) forking repub’s never change their game plan if it worked once, it will work again.
Ni’ihau is too flat, it’d have to be Kaua’i… I’m not sure if I’d survive the tremblor, much less worry about the mega-tsunami… *g*
AstralTechnician — good luck. He never liked me. boo hoo.
If the republicans beat the democrats to finding out about the intel on Iran, I’ll be pissed.
Mitt Romney Did Not Have Lawn Relations With That Immigrant
from Huff Po by The Huffington Post News Editors
After last week’s heated exchange between Mitt Romney and Rudy Giuliani at the CNN/YouTube debate over providing sanctuary to illegal aliens, Romney has come under fire for contracting a landscaping company that employed illegal immigrant laborers. Romney says that he subsequently fired the company, claiming ignorance, but a look at a sample resume from the Community Lawn Service of Chelsea, Massachusetts, shows the clues were there if you wanted to find them.
Who never liked you, Christine?
I like you!!
Yep. Senate Intelligence committee needed to be on the phone and in front of cameras in seconds on this.
Christine I like you! Why wouldn’t people?
They are not, LooHoo. They are wanting to do another 911 Commission - remember how they used that report to spin 9/11.
Don’t know if y’all caught it but Bernie Ward, the late night talk radio host on West Coast’s KGO, has been busted for child porn on his computer.
http://cbs13.com/local/radio.h…..04492.html
Then there is Mitt Romney’s use of the Sam Adams story at the first Continental Convention. The Priest who offered himself as a pious man who was a true patriot was a fellow named Jacob Duche’.
Turns out that one should beware those who are externally “pious” or “patriots”.
Duche’ later was caught by the British, and started writing letters to George Washington trying to convince him to surrender. He was later convicted as a loyalist and had to flee to England. While there he began to practice and promote Swedenborgian Mysticism as a faith. After more than 20 years abroad he was allowed top return to the US and even practice his odd cultic faith.

I shouldn’t be so touchy. BUT I like all of you and I’m thrilled to be here.
At least the dems are demanding no permanent bases in Iraq.
Don’t know if y’all caught it but Bernie Ward, the late night talk radio host on West Coast’s KGO, has been busted for child porn on his computer.
KGO is gonna have to declare Ward a liberal now yanno and fire him. The Disney bosses will not be happy at this news.
Oh yes, please.
You think the republicans are wanting to get this to cover it up? That would make perfect sense.
Screams bullshit to me. Been a listener forever…
And he is the most Liberal (reasonable) host I have ever heard.
Night all. Parents in town. Must be awake for them.
Cinnamonape, are you still in the notherlands?
Actually, Mittsy probably fired them not because they were illegal aliens, but because he suspected they were secular.
Hey Tex,
My sister-in-law is a polio survivor. Surgery, and more surgery. We are really worried.
nite betsy
You think the republicans are wanting to get this to cover it up? That would make perfect sense.
is exactly what they wanna do, loohoo, in my opinion.
Then they should defund the construction, maintenance and manning of the bases, not write George a please don’t make them permanent letter.
Screams bullshit to me too newtonusr - any idea when the charges will be disclosed?
Nite, Tex! I shall head off myself! Aloha Oe!!!
Oh, but that wouldn’t be “Supporting Our Troops!!!”
Lemme see how this will go. It’ll be discovered that several of the 18 or so intelligence agencies began to have doubts about the veracity of the claims that Iran had an ongoing nuclear weapons program soon after 2003. But these agencies were overruled or marginalized. Then we’ll find that their position over time was justified by more and more intelligence so that it finally became not only a consensus, but nearly unanimous.
Bush knows about all these doubts all along. Then McConnell points out to Bush in July that the new NIE is going to reverse everything that he has been hawking publicly since 2001. Bush orders a final review on the issue of whether all the evidence could be faked by the Iranians. Turns out that option is viewed as implausible if not impossible, given the multiple sourcing and amount of evidence.
So the Republicans will try to spin this, but they forget that, unlike the 9/11 Commission Report, that they don’t control who is going to be the Executive Director (it won’t be Phil Zelikow) and the majority membership on the Commission.
Yep. Still in Singerpore…though I’m heading to Malaysia and Thailand tommorowbouts. It’s raining buckets here. Got my ticket back stateside booked on New Years eve…so back to cold AND WET.
I better skeedaddle myself. Night, everyone.
Bolton is already peddling the fiction that, because the agencies got it so wrong on 911, they can’t be trusted, especially now. Nice.
g’nite ct
pain free sleep wishes tex
Safe trip, cinnamonape. Tell us about your adventures sometime!
I’m wondering whether anyone in Congress was briefed about the growing doubts of Iran’s nuclear weapons activity. Specifically, like the Senate and House leadership and the intelligence committees. I haven’t heard any member of Congress come out and say they knew about this, but nor have I heard any member of Congress come out and express outrage that they were NOT briefed. Has anyone?
g’nite loohoo
c’ape, whereabouts stateside?
Why would anyone listen to Bolton? Really gotta go…
Not that I agree with the idea of another commission but we know who the Dems would select for such a body and it would be another Baker Hamilton love in, shush-up fest.
Isn’t it time for a very powerful prosecutor or impeachment investigation?
over at skippy’s late night music club we’ve been doing this week in music:
u2 - sunday bloody sunday
tegan and sara - monday monday monday
rolling stones - ruby tuesday
simon and garfunkle - wednesday morning 3 am
david bowie - thursday’s child
the cure - friday i’m in love
bay city rollers - saturday night
Those who choose to go to bed, only embolden the terrorists.
But sweet dreams anyway.
You lead by doing Loo Hoo and am gonnas keedaddle too. Niters, all you dears.
nite loo hoo
Ho ho, Hmmm. *g*
“Not that I agree with the idea of another commission but we know who the Dems would select for such a body and it would be another Baker Hamilton love in, shush-up fest.”
Sounds like a perfect assignment for….
Joe Lieberman!!!
Any evidence that Mitt reported “Community Lawn Service” to the IRS for hiring undocumented workers? I bet he didn’t. AFTER he said he told them once, and caught them TWICE. So if he isn’t gonna, as the States HIGHEST OFFICIAL, take some effort to shut down KNOWN or SUSPECTED abuse of immigrant labor…then what are we to think of his stand when he becomes President?
Isn’t this a case of “Misprison of Felony”? That’s when a government official knows of a crime and then fails to report it to the proper authorities.
niters NPB
Yes, exactly. EW’s timeline made me wonder how the hell the Kyl-Lieberman resolution ever made it through, when a bunch of those folks _must_ have known about the NIE.
Fuckery most foul.
g’nite you brat!
If an Intel committee person knew something are we certain they would be able to discuss it, even among other senators, without breaking the law?
ES, great question. After all, Jello Jay wrote that letter to Cheney with a copy in his safe after one of those classified briefings.
Hmmmm, for what it’s worth, I don’t like that 6/5 business either. Not one little bit. Tried to post earlier but wordpress wasn’t liking me.
Even if they couldn’t discuss it, they could still vote against Kyl-Lieberman.
That is something else I was wondering.
Is it a crime if the Prez lies to the American people? Its not perjury because he was not under oath during his speeches.
If he is lying about intel/ NIE reports?
Is it a crime if the Prez lies to the American people? Its not perjury because he was not under oath during his speeches.
Nah, he’s doing it for our own good, dontja know.
“Is it a crime if the Prez lies to the American people? Its not perjury because he was not under oath during his speeches.”
It may not be a violation of the criminal code, but it is within the power of Congress to declare it a “high crime or misdemeanor.”
Impeach.
Well, certainly lying affects one’s demeanor adversely. Producing a mis-demeanor, if you will. And what could adequately explain his ‘thinking’ (too charitable a term, I know) other than him being high.
So not a crime, perhaps, but definitely a high misdemeanor.
Hah! We crossed.
A president lying about reasons to go to war? That ought to be criminal, but I’ll settle for neurophius’ idea. Impeach.
Now that’s my kind of person!
Why is there a singing woman on CNN? I knew it was a bad idea to turn the TV on.
hey margot.. didn’t see ya earlier when i came rushing back in. how’s your broken but out of the cast now ankle?
His minions lied to Congress, though…
Thank you. I think.
and did he order his minions to lie to congress, newt? or did cheney?
Loo Hoo @32
* The Iranians have seen what happened to Iraq, which dropped its nuclear program and hasn’t supported terrorism.
* They also saw what happened to Pakistan, which developed nuclear weapons and established the Taliban.
* Valerie Plame says the Iranians harbor “malevolent intentions.”
I hope (but am not confident) that the Iranians have dropped their nuclear weapons efforts.
We put this Harpers link on the front page news box earlier this evening.

snip/ with much more (my bold added)
His minions speak for him. No exceptions. The buck stops there.
The TV Japan cable network has an Asian News program in English. They just showed a story from Iranian TV about Amedinejad appearing at some sort of congress (wish I knew more about Iranian gov structure) saying that they needed 50,000 centrifuges to refine fuel for their nuclear electric power plants. 50,000.
Hmmm.
i wonder if boosh’s attempt to save himself will be to toss cheney under the bus and say that cheney was feeding him bad info and had in essence done a coup and that boosh is a blameless victim?
I wonder. The WH can pretty much filter what goes into the Senate Intelligence Committee. It’s still not certain how many agencies were actually questioning the “fact” that Iran was trying to developing nukes since 2003. The 2003 NIE, was I believe, very much directed at indicating that Iran had a nuclear weapons program. Here were the Democratic members in 2003-4
John D. Rockefeller IV, W.Virginia Carl Levin, Michigan Dianne Feinstein, California Ron Wyden, Oregon Richard Durbin, Illinois Evan Bayh, Indiana John Edwards, North Carolina Barbara Mikulski, Maryland
Current Dems (2007-8) include Russ Feingold and Sheldon Whitehouse. Hard to see how they would let this stuff go.
http://intelligence.senate.gov…..gress.html
Last I heard, reports said they had about three thousand now.
And yet strangely, no matter how wrong Bush and Bolton himself got things, he’ll never draw the conclusion that they can’t be trusted.
That’s music to my ears, ES. Sweet, sweet music.
Sacramento. I’ll be tryin’ to hook up with some of the N.Cal FDL’ers when I return.
Bingo!
I remember Bolton was on the News hour yesterday questioning motives/veracity of the NIE report. Yet Cheney was quoted as having no question about it at all.
Cheney never wavers, until yesterday.
It has looked like W giving Dick enough rope to hang himself, for a while now. W’s plausible deniability is stretched pretty damn thin by this point, though.
Basically I see Team Dick aligned with Israel, vs. Team W aligned with the Saudis. Team Dick is slipping backwards down the hill, falling from one broken branch to the next. Let’s all be on the watch for desperate acts.
Sacramento. I’ll be tryin’ to hook up with some of the N.Cal FDL’ers when I return.
sweet, i was thinking of another one here at the little cottage, maybe end of january-ish.
Interesting theory. Especially if Dick’s ticker is on the fritz so bad the implanted defibrillator can’t do the job. What the hell, blame it on the dead guy. Sounds like something Boosh would do.
Per Scott Horton:
Per the U.S. Constitution Article II Section 2:
Per John Dean http://writ.news.findlaw.com/dean/20001208.html
iirc, spiderpaws said december 11th or thereabouts was a potentially difficult time for cheney… that he has heavy planets in a house one does not want heavy planets in according to his chart.
Would that apply to others he may have pardoned if they were all in on it together?
so if boosh does a pre-emptive pardon before anyone can be impeached, including himself, he gets off scott free - at least in Congress and here in the states.
does a presidential pardon work for the world court?
sorry, that first half in my last should have been a question and not a statement.
I doubt it.
I remember Bolton was on the News hour yesterday questioning motives/veracity of the NIE report. Yet Cheney was quoted as having no question about it at all.
ES, witness the birth of a new meme
Wahhhhhhhh, we don’t like the new NIE.
Oh…didn’t the CIA tell Condi that there was a 10-out-of-10 probability of an imminent attack by al Qaida on a US target using hijacked aircraft as aerial bombs? That the NSA reported an increase in chatter and a call for members to come to Afghanistan?
And for Iraq the got everything wrong except for The Energy Department on the Centrifuges, and the CIA on “Curveball”, and the State Department, CIA, and Pentagon on the Iraq-Niger contract for “yellowcake”, etc. etc.
And Bolton was SO RIGHT!
Asking it another way: If a President is impeached, are pardons (or commutations…) granted to co-conspirators first vulnerable to Court challenge?
No but there’s the American Service-members Protection Act, aka The Hague Invasion Act, the stated purpose of whic is “to protect United States military personnel and other elected and appointed officials of the United States government against criminal prosecution by an international criminal court to which the United States is not party”.
I know. Isn’t all so, predictable? And why would any senator suggest such a thing when its the peoples House who should be investigating?
Impeach.
Hmmmmm@116:
IANAL. I’ve read varying opinions on that. Some say that the impeachment exception of Article II Section 2 merely says that the President can’t pardon himself out of being impeached. Others says that if he gets impeached and convicted, his pardons issued during the interim become invalid.
fed the news ticker with the wapoo article
I’m going to go dream of impeachment…and conviction!
Good night, all.
g’nite neuro
Nitey-bye. Happy dreams to you.
Suz, I don’t even notice it now. Thanks for all your good tips during the summer and fall!

That song has been playing in my mind since, oh I don’t know…About November of 2000.
cheney’s big stick is carried around due to over-compensating for a small little twig.
Twig or sprig?
