Well, it appears that the hostage taker at Hillary Clinton’s office was not (as far as we know) a regular at Free Republic nor one of the scary brown people Michelle Malkin’s posters are always suspecting.
No, just your regular fucked-up, desperate, pathetic, moron who takes one way you’re guaranteed to get counseling in this country…perform a high-profile criminal act.
Three days earlier, his wife had filed for divorce; he was due to appear in court with her for a domestic violence hearing in about half an hour. Then, the nicely dressed, gray-haired man peeled open his jacket to reveal what looked like dynamite strapped to his chest, authorities said, and things got much worse… Eisenberg said he wanted help getting psychiatric care, but had been turned away because he didn’t have the money. “I need to speak to Hillary Clinton,” CNN quoted him as saying. “Something’s got to change. Ordinary people need help” with their insurance.
Naturally, this will lead to right-wingers adding yet another quiver to their poisoned arguments against moving toward universal health care — it would be giving in to the terrorists or show you are “soft” on crime.

Attaturk,
Did you buy FireDogLake?
Good morning Attaturk :)
The pressure was tough back there. Nice perris.

I’m sure there were directions about what to do and when the new site goes up (or when exactly it does) on the internal emails that have been sent out, but I must have missed it in the plethora of them all. So for now, just some clean sheets here.

funny though, I kind of had my share and didn’t really want to be first I just couldn’t load a post
then I’m thinking this might be the last thread before “the other side” and it might be a good zed to have

I always manage to screw something up.
Evidently they forgot to ask if he intended to do harm to himself or someone else.
On Topic:
How terrible for this man (an evidently fo rhis abused wife) that because we don’t have uiversal health care in this country, his obvious mental health problems have gone untreated.
So, in addition to his own mental health ssues, his wife now has suffered physical injury. I wonder if she, too, was turned away or did not even seek medical care because it was too expensive?
Is this how a civilized nation allows it’s citizens to suffer?
gosh that is such a sad story
I hope he does get the help he needs and wants
As Boston at #10 says about the second paragraph, it’s “you’re” not “your.”
So then, this guy was a miserable left-wing socialist after free medical insurance. Have I got that right?
And Romney would have waterboarded his punk ass? Right?
Turkey Neck Thompson would have used ‘extreme’ discomfort on his weak momma lovin’ punkness? Right?
But McCain, not being into torture so much would have just had the ‘lil’ whiner locked up for the rest of his life? Right?
Good, going back to sleep now.

I caught it a few minutes ago on review, but thanks to both of you for noticing early.
Geez, I go and be productive for 10 minutes and look what happens!
The brain is an organ of the body.
It isn’t covered by insurance the same way as the other organs are.
It’s a simple and lifewrecking as that.
Jane’s been through this. A long time ago, we used to be at http://www.firedoglake.blogspot.com. There were some hic-ups in that transition, but we never lost any commenters. IIRC, most upgrades occur around two in the morning on Friday or Saturday night. Jane may have run into problems (extremely common) and will try again tomorrow night.
Thanks for the post Attaturk.

Ah, an lhp question I can answer…(I’m pretty good at the rhetorical ones).
geez, I’ve been up so long my coffee pot shut down, and it’s on a 2 hour timer.
Ain’t insomnia grand?
edit: it may be a two-pot morning…

this is meant to be somewhat witty but not overblown snark. i really mean it in a way everybody here has thought at one time or another.
civilized?
dont’ forget I am north of the border where you can get a psychiatrist under your free (okay higher taxes yada yada) provincial health insurance plan for personal counselling.
the ‘gunslinger’ ethos of ‘every man for himself’ ‘every girl a playmate in waiting’ just doesn’t work too well. And of course it’s a blatantly false mythology.
They turn away the suicidal on a regular basis. The ones they accept, they spin-dry and spit out after two days.
Good morning. Not on the other side yet?
According to Tucker Carlson the Mr. Eisenberg is a libertarian…athough we have no idea why he thinks that…and according to Tucker’s guest the failed fbi agent Ciff Van Zandt….he destroyed ibertarian ideals and made people less free from government…
arghhhhhh
Attaturk @ 17
your both observant early this morning!!!
I frequently see people with painful, embarrassing or just plain unpleasant conditions that they are forced to “live with” due to lack of access to health care.
When they follow W’s advice and “just go to an emergency room” we treat the LIFE THREATENING illness and send them on their way, with the same painful, embarrassing, and unpleasant conditions they can’t afford to have addressed.
Just like the GOP likes it.
Good Morning Attaturk!
1,675 DAYZ AND THE KILLIN’ GOEZ ON AND ON AND..
Citizen Attaturk:
These new digs are gunna take some time ta get used to…are Jane and Christie gunna stay with it er are they bailin’ out?
Trex is gunna be missed late nite…I jest hope he wasn’t dumped because of fear of wingnut backlash to his super-sharp wit and occasional cutting edge remarks.
Welcome to the mix, Attaturk…I hope I ken adjust ta all this “new wave” shit comin’ down the track here.
KEEP THE FAITH AND TAKE CARE OF EACH OTHER!!
From a long time lurker, one (or two) time poster, I really like this new lake. Seems so much easier. To the tech-challenged (me), the old format was difficult to use. Now, even I can post and not totally screw it up and get all embarrassed in front of everybody. I had quite enough of that in Catholic school, thank you.
What fun! Look at me! I’m diving in, splashing around! The water’s delicious!
Thank you. I’m gonna go buy a new bathing suit for the occasion!
