What about this initiative?:

1268. (07-0032)

Presidential Electors. Political Party Nomination and Election by Congressional District. Statute.
Summary Date: 9/5/07 Circulation Deadline: 2/4/08 Signatures Required: 433,971

    Proponent: Thomas W. Hiltachk (916) 442-7757

Requires California to join two other states in selecting electors for president by the plurality vote in each congressional district. Provides for political party nomination of electors pledged to vote for that party’s candidate. Independent electors to be chosen by independent presidential candidates and also elected by congressional district. Two at-large electors to be selected based on plurality of statewide vote for president. Mandates that electors vote for candidate for whom they are pledged. Eliminates $10 compensation and 5 cents per mile reimbursement of electors. Summary of estimate by Legislative Analyst and Director of Finance of fiscal impact on state and local government: Reduced state expenses of less than $10,000 every four years. (Initiative 07-0032.)

I think rxbusa is right. 1268 is the number of the initiative that features the rubber-banded hidden copies under the kid’s cancer initiative. 1250 is the already withdrawn effort that was going on earlier this year. As far as I can tell on the California secretary of state’s site, 1268 is still alive.

I havent had time to read the whole thread yet, but I was very excited to see the withdrawal. However, I’m not sure this is the end of it.

The “Presidential Reform Act” initiative is still circulating.
See this link. http://www.sos.ca.gov/election.....j.htm#1268

g’morning bluestateredhead.

g’morning to you too Suzanne. I still get tears-in-the-eyes-happy when remembering that you thanked me for being the bridge between the Lake and the Kos and more generally by the actual fact of that day’s citizen action flowing between two instances of my browser, two sites, and that little bunch of us.

I am still catching up. Has anyone provided a link to an article explaining the nuts and bolts of the withdrawal, or whether anyone got caught <strike>redhanded?</strike> redclipboarded?

While dolling out the thanks. Let’s here it for the student journalists at the UCs who put it in their papers, too.

<strike>dolling</strike> doling. sorry. and now to work.
