Asking Kucinich if he thinks he saw an alien spacecraft is in pretty much the same vein as asking, say, Huckabee whether he thinks the theory of evolution through natural selection is true. They’re both windows into how evidence-based and rational the person is, and they both touch on larger belief systems that I, for one, want to know about. There is one big difference, namely that a question about evolution might also provide a view into how willing the person would be to pander to a particular organized constituency, while I’m not too sure what constituency a question about UFOs would appeal to (and whatever it is, it wouldn’t be terribly organized in a political sense).

That said, though, while in general I agree that the press often asks ridiculous questions, these don’t strike me as falling into that category.

Thanks Jane! This much is clear about Kucinich, “The congressman, mistaken or not in his beliefs, is a thoughtful, passionate, incorruptible and brave man.”
At sites like DailyKos where Kos consistently calls him a “kook” I feel like I am the “kook” for reading anything Kos would have to say about anything.
One could say, like millions of people do, “I like Kucinich and his policies, but he can’t get elected,” but don’t dismiss a 40-year liberal record with name-calling.
We need more liberal voices.

It’s easy for a Republican to promise to not raise taxes as long as other countries are dumb enough to loan us money.

Every borrowed dollar is a tax hike because somebody has to pay it back later…with interest!

It’s one of the biggest welfare programs of all. Who pays less taxes and yet ‘invests’ and receives profit from all those government bonds…the Rich.

Of course, if we spent all our time balancing the budget, then we’d never get around to doing things for the rest of America.
