The Politico report contains all sorts of suggestive lurid details about the Playboy Rudy. Such as

~ Playboy Rudy was apparently involved with Judy nathan long before previously reported, or suspected by his wife. The “hidden” records of visits near Nathan’s condominium stretch for three years…from the summer of 1999 to the week before the 9/11 attacks.

~ Rudy used his son as cover for his affairs. Rudy’s second marriage was thought to be intact until the spring of 2000. His mysterious weekend absences were explained away by his aides by saying he was spending time with his (now estranged) son and playing golf. So much for “Family Values”.

~ While Rudy was accorded 24-365 police protection as mayor, other expenses, such as travel and hotel expenses for personnel would have been increased for “overnighters” away from Manhattan. Although many of the trips show expenses only for gas, though his police detail billed the city $1,371.40 for the nights of Aug. 3-4, 2001, at the Village Latch Inn in Southampton.

~ No “legitimate” security expenses - as recorded on the Mayor’s Appointments Calendar, are placed in unrelated city offices or programs. It is only those that are “off calendar” that appear to be shuttled into such agencies as the Loft Board ($34,000), the Office for People With Disabilities ($10,054), the Procurement Policy Board ($29,757), and the Assigned Counsel Administrative Office ($400,000).

~ The Loft Board was created to make sure that Loft conversions were safe and not fire-traps. The Assigned Counsel Office made sure that impoverished defendants had access to defense counsel. The People with disabilities assisted the handicapped access city services. Giuliani’s pilfering from their budgets may have created dangerous and discriminatory conditions for the indigent and disabled.

The Cover UP~ The Comptroller’s Office made repeated requests for the information in 2001-2002 but was informed that, due to “security concerns, the information would not be provided.

The Comptroller found travel costs had skyrocketted by 151% in Giuliani’s final fiscal year, to more than $618,000, which inclded trips to Los Angeles by Donna Hanover, Giuliani’s estranged wife. Most of that travel also was billed to obscure agencies, though portions — much of it trips to and from Washington by Giuliani deputies — were accounted for more conventionally, with a more visible charge to the mayor.

Was There Another Mistress?

One “off-the-Books” trip remains mysterious. The detectives spent $1,714.99 at The Breakers, a sprawling hotel and resort in Palm Beach, Florida. There is no indication that Nathan visited Palm Beach, and where Giuliani stayed and the reason for his visit is unrecorded.

Here’s a little more on the
Rudy Giuliani Sex Romp Scandal

‘Course Rudy blames it on his security detail putting the charges into the wrong accounts. How odd? The auditor finds that none of his regular “Calendar” appearances end up off the police accounting books…just the ones that relate to “Judy visits” and a few other unofficial visits (to Florida, for example).

And I wonder if services to things like the Disabled and the Low Income Legal Defense funds were cut as a result of Giuliani’s trying to hide his actions from public scrutiny?

So not only is he an adulterer and embezzler…it seems that he stole from the needy!

A good read:

The U.S. Aggression Process and Its Collaborators: From Guatemala (1950-1954) to Iran (2002-)

Makes me wonder two things. Why not disband the UN since it really does not function in accordance with its’ mission and to what extent could could a multinational corporation be classified as a non-state actor?

great link. i’m a big fan of george kenney.

c’ape, sad when European countries have better (and more humanitarian) immigration policies than we do. Here, ICE would separate the kids from the mom and deport mom.

Not sure about that. The ICE has started to do this with illegal immigrants with “legal” kids…but not if there is a legally recognized marriage involved. But in the US “nativism” has varied widely over history.

Sometimes the US is more open, other times Europeans…but don’t package all of those countries into one. In many places in Europe xenophobia is even greater than here in the US…with active rioting and regular assaults and discrimination…even for legal residents.

Germany has fourth generation Turkish-descended kids who still can’t get citizenship because they won’t naturalize anyone without German “blood”. But I had a friend who swears his father, from Central Africa, was accorded German citizenship because of his assisting and rescuing a German expedition to Africa during the early 1920’s. He traveled to Germany, married, and then fled to Denmark during the rise of Hitler. He, and his wife and son, were protected by the Danes…though how you hide a black-man in an all white country I’ll never understand. But the Danes did it.

John Xichai is now a Danish citizen, and “National Cultural Hero” for his jazz career…he has performed in ensembles with John Coltrane and Sonny Rollins, as well as others.
