(In my darker moments, I actually don’t think that’s true. They just find it a useful rhetorical device. You know —a con. Like all cons, it’s probably true somewhere, just not when and where it’s mostly likely to be invoked, by some people.)

I once read an econ book by Galbraith, “Almost Everyone’s Guide to Economics” or something similar. He make that point that at the same time they preach the wonders of the free market most American businessmen do everything possible to insulated themselves from it — and none of them see any hypocricy in doing so.
