Al Gore, Nobel Peace Prize Winner, will visit the White House today — or as it should be known in a just world, his residence. There he will be perfunctorily congratulated by our anointed Decider. I’m sure Bush will handle it with all the grace and aplomb we have come to expect. Commander Codpiece will demand Gore provide a monogrammed “Official Nobel Prize Committee Bush #43 Jersey“.

Well this is rare. A late late late night thread?
Gore v Bush, Part II
Pretty surprising!
Trying to read the caption on the photo, and no matter how much I increase the magnification, I can’t. I suspect it’s funny.
Why does Al have to go? I’d just come up with “scheduling conflicts” and blow off that frat-boy president…
Lucky for him I didn’t win the Nobel Prize this year. *g*
The caption reads, “You couldn’t fix this vote, you f*ckers”
Bilbo @ 8
Good eyes! T’would be nice if Gore actually used it today. *g*
The Preznit will once again display what he ain’t got: class.
Smgumby @ 4
I’ve been recruited as the FDL designated early riser.
I truly hope Al just rubs it in by his presence
msmolly @ 6
I think it reads…
NOBEL PRIZE
You couldn’t fix this vote, you f*ckers
Welcome attaturk!
Good morning pups.
Good Morning!

Good morning, pups. It’s Cohen and Krugman in the NYT today. Roger Cohen says President Bush’s best hope at the Annapolis conference may be the Texas connection. Paul Krugman says the official unemployment rate is fairly low by historical standards, and why people are so unhappy.

The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready, and the biscuits are out of the oven. I don’t know about anyone else, but I could get in the habit of having 3-day work weeks! Oh, well, have a good Monday… [drags self off to work]
Good Morning! Attaturk thanks for the post. It’s nice to have a good chuckle in the morning.
Attaturk @ 11
Hi Attaturk. Welcome. Like some coffee?
mornin’ all!
Attaturk @ 11
Congratz Attaturk. It’s a niche that needed to be filled. Look forward to your future posts.
I can’t hang with the late night pups being more of a morning dog. Yet I find their wickedly funny snark goes great with breakfast also. It sets the tone for the rest of my day.
wigwam @ 18
I’m already six cups in for the day, but thanks.
Yes, welcome, Attaturk. East coast early bird firepups like myself appreciate being able to vent earlier.
Attaturk @ 21
Damn. Another cup and we’ll have to pry you off the ceiling with a crowbar.
wigwam @ 23
We need tw3k for this meme.
Bilbo @ 24
well isn’t he right up there on the ceiling?
Just as long as Al doesn’t try walking up any steps one pace ahead of the Bicycle Chief, he’ll be alright. Otherwise, watch out. Chimpy doesn’t like to be left behind!
Morning all–
MSNBC reporting that Trent Lott will resign by the end of the year. Is that one big ugly rat abandoning ship?
Nola Sue @ 27
Yay!
How long until he signs a book deal?
Breaking….and you’re not going to believe this one…..just announced on MSNBC, Trent Lott will resign before the end of the year.
WTF is going on???
solai @ 29
Perhaps he’s running for president.
Kelly O’Donnell reporting speculation that he’s getting out before the new lobbying regulations kick in 1/1/08 which will mandate a 2-year wait before former Sens/Reps can go into lobbying.
Now it all adds up.
Nearly 8 years later, the moonbats still bark. Gore lost. Get over it.
twolf1 @ 28
Naw…….supposedly to be able to feast at the lobbying trough ASAP.
I applaud the selection of attaturk to oversee the rising hours.
Nola Sue @ 31
Ya think?
The Republican Party: All $ all the time.
(and usually someone else’s)
mack @ 35
yeah, the taxpayer’s money
Attaturk @ 11
Welcome, Attaturk. Nice to have you here.
Welcome Attaturk! It will indeed be nice to have an early-riser thread. Will Late- and LateLate-Night continue?
Oh, and Hello, Marion! Thanks, as always, for the Times feed.
Bets on who in the MSM notes the Lott retirement as a “beat the lobbying clock” maneuver?
sharon @ 32
I’ll never get over it. It’s part of my DNA.
If Hilary becomes Prez, the Repugs will never
get over it… it will be fun to watch
ixnay, usually found lurking @ 38
Don’t know “who” but it is already being noted on the idjit box.
Good morning all & welcome Attaturk’
I said when I first heard about this that if I were Al Gore, I’d decline the invitation. Like the Pope with Condi, I’d be on vacation.
Now to the core of the matter. What nickname do you suppose W will call Gore? Is it Ozone Man?
There was a photo posted somewhere a few days ago of Bush and Gore standing side by side. Gore is much taller. He towers over Bush. This is just the sort of thing that would bother our pres. Looking forward to another shot like that, but I’m betting that an order has come down that no such photo will be taken.
And…morning Attaturk
ABC News and Facebook in Joint Effort to Bring Viewers Closer to Political Coverage
ABC News and Facebook have formally established a partnership — the site’s first with a news organization — that allows Facebook members to electronically follow ABC reporters, view reports and video and participate in polls and debates, all within a new “U.S. Politics” category.
Elliott @ 43
“To underscore their collaboration, the two organizations will announce today that they are jointly sponsoring Democratic and Republican presidential debates in New Hampshire on Jan. 5, three days before the primary election there.”
Nola Sue @ 27
His new mansion must be ready for full time occupation.
I really distrust ABC News. As much as Fox. The 2 headlines on worker strikes cemented it. When the auto workers were on strike the headline read “Striking To Protect $60/hr Wages”. For the writers the headline was “Would You Stike if Earning $200,000 per Year?” Shameful, misleading headlines. And of course, there was “The Path To 9/11″. They’re more dangerous than FoxNews.
eCAHNomics @ 45
Where he and George Bush can sit on the front porch sipping mint tea
OT: Could someone lend some help? Ever since the “Diggs” was added to the site I have been having increased problems connecting to FDL. It has gotten worse each day. And now the site comes up in a default font and the sidebar ads and links appear way below the post, not with the post to the side. I have waited as much as 10 minutes for the page to load, and have received many “problem with server” notifications.
I have a Mac. Everything else runs fine and fast. I connect to TNH in record time as well as many other sites… Any changes done that require tweeking on my end?
COMRADE! VELCOME!
solai @ 46
I never watch ABC, news or otherwise. Programs are crap. In addition, I’ve hated Disney for decades.
KLynn @ 48
Have you tried clearing your browser’s cache? Safari or Firefox?
democracynow: Turkey, Greece, Italy & Spain participated in U.S. reditions, but allowing flights to land, or use of airspace.
KLynn @ 48
What browser are you using? Try clearing the cache (Tools ==> Clear private data with Firefox). If you’re not using Firefox, you might want to try it.
Is the Senate back today?
Why is he even going?
Must leave. See all later.
Good morning, Attaturk, and welcome!
Me likey.
Over from the comment threads at Atrios’ shop:
Sorry if it’s been mentioned, but Trent Lott is retiring.
hey this is a blessing: you go, turk.
yes, i wonder who’s going to to feel more uncomfortable at the white house: bush or gore?
man, the photo op is going to be a busy place today.
Christy’s up on Trent and his lot
So glad for this post. I keep wondering what some to the conversation may be…what Gore will say to Shrub. Something like “Heckava job, shrub”; “You’ve really made a wreck”; “You’ve ruined the economy/constitution/SuCt./civil rights/ position in the world”. I do not really expect Gore to be rude; but what would he like to say? What a chance: Maybe You stole the election & blew it & your dad is so ashamed of you. No, No, I will never get over it; a nadir counter-point to the hope of JFK. I am really glad Gore is going to return with such success could not say more.
Good to have you here so bright and early attaturk!
So instead of a late late late night thread we have an early bird thread! Glad to see it!
Fresh thread. Sorry not to give yours as much attention as it deserved Attaturk!
Gore’s a southern gentleman.
I have this mental picture of him walking up to Bush, shaking his hand, tilting his head slightly and shaking it slowly as he gives him the sympathetic smile reserved for someone who’s dumb as a bag of hammers and doesn’t know it, and saying simply..
“Bless your heart”
Kestrel at 65 — HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Oh, please let that actually happen. *g*
Attaturk!!!! yay!
Yes, today is the real Thanksgiving. Just laughing away for days over this.
WaPo reported he tried the scheduling conflicts but bush changed the date to accomodate Gore’s. Ohhhhhhh this is sweeeeeeet any way you slice it. :D
KestrelBrighteyes @ 65
Indeed. LOLOLOLOL :-)
wouldn’t it be something if Al Gore took the opportunity to announce that he is running for president.
That would really piss off chimpy, to announce right in front of him.
George will be cool about it, althought I can’t verify how his internal temperature may rise in the process. He may even slip Gore a presidential coin as a souviner.
I doubt bush knows what the term ‘awkward’ means, let alone how to spell it.
I am sure it will be a big disappointment to the former Vice Prez, knowing how the bush/cheney admin has destroyed in the past seven years every vestige of what he worked to protect in America under President Bill Clinton.
solai @ 46
Don’t forget they looked at the DC Madam’s phone records and said there was nobody of note in there. Later we found there WAS, Republican Senator Vitter of Louisiana. Then they pocketed the list and weren’t going to let anyone else look it over.
bhatten @ 62
slightly snarky version:
Gore: Hi George. So, how’s that stolen election workin’ out for ya?
more likely reality:
Gore: Hello Mr. President. It’s good to see you again.
Gore is such a stand-up guy.
