still feels unpleasant/sad… a break in community - and one that is not openly discussed/acknowledged. makes me think a comment in any post today would not be welcomed… so i came back here, to the only thread i know of where it might be ok to say…. i miss trex. and i miss the feeling of community.

Up very early this morning — I have to go get “installed” in ambulatory surgery in about a half hour – the weather is chilly and rainy here, but no snow. They are predicting sleet/freezing rain “wintry mix” (I like that – “I’d like some wintry mix please – and don’t forget the nuts”).
With any luck, I’ll be home by dinner tonight, but nuthin’ from me today – ya’ll will have to hold up Christy and Jane by yourselves.

I think this qualifies as a good working definition of chutzpah.

Famous civil rights lawyer gets bagged by the Feds for income tax evasion, is tried, and is convicted. He’s facing up to nine years in prison (which, for the benefit of those not familiar with the federal sentencing guidelines, means he evaded a s**tload of taxes). He’s arguing for no jail time, in part because he’s old and in failing health, but also so that he can teach a course at UCLA Law School on … wait for it … morality and law.
