Hello, Jane:

Just called you this morning while you were on Cspan. Again I enjoyed your show. I asked would you support Hillary over Ron Paul and you said you would choose Hillary. The American people voted overwhelmingly to end this war and now “progressives” like are afraid to do what they said they would do. We are tired of party politics. We want action on important matters and I can think of noting more important than ending this genocide that is taking place in Iraq. almost a year ago the number 655,000 dead since the start of the war. Hillary is not going to change that. She is in the pockets of the corporations. Of all the candidates Hillary resembles Rudy more than any other and If those two end up as our choices we have no choice! Kucinich would be a great candidate. Like Ron Paul he is another honest man but with your defeatist attitude you can’t support a candidate that holds the truth in high esteem. You said that Ron Paul want to do away with social security. This is not true. It seems that you have learned well the scare tactics of the republicans. What follows is the official Ron Paul Position on Social Security.

I love this song. My 3 year old daughter (who is now 30) could sing it without missing a word, though the harmonics may have been a bit off, which I know must qualify me as the best DFH mum in the world. She probably could still do it. I still can. And the sentiments are more relevant than ever. Luckily my kids are Canadian so protest from afar.

petedownunder @ 12

I recall when this song came out. Great stuff. I still refer to the Group W Bench, but the younger folks have no idea what I’m talking about.

Shoot, the young people I talk to don’t know shit. I have to provide them with history lessons on just about anything that’s happened more than 2 days ago. I don’t think they’re teaching them anything in school.

Does this just mean I’m getting old? Hey you, get offa my lawn!

Just consider it an open invitation. Sahra and I have already agreed to flip a coin to see whose home gets the first dinner party in your honor. MssrsBrat&Sahra are accomplished chefs. ;~)

That’s a delectable invite. And if there will be music, so much the better!

Yep, music is a given. Hearing Sahra playing the piano and singing her original songs is just too cool for school. And the CD collections and you can bring your faves if you want to. ;~)

you gotta sing louder, and in four part harmony
if you want to end a war…
so let’s wait for it to come around again

In other words, the coup has to be announced within the next twelve months if it’s going to happen at all.

Exactly right. The window is opening as the economic crisis unfolds. I’d say that February is the point where it becomes somewhat less likely, but until the inaguration, the chances of an organized “soft coup” are quite strong.

I’ve been expecting the Bush Administration to buckle under the weight of its criminal component, but the unfolding economic apocalypse may apply even more force in the direction of “change”. For better or worse…
