Former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson was sentenced today to 24 hours in jail and three years’ probation for drug possession and driving under the influence in the south-western US state of Arizona.

Tyson had pleaded guilty in September to cocaine possession and driving under the influence.

He faced a maximum of four years and three months in prison.

How is cocaine possession only ‘worth’ 4 years and 3 months in prison?

I thought mere possession got you like 20 years these days.

Oh, I’ll bet it was that ‘White Man’s Cocaine’ and not the ‘brown stuff’.

Makes all the difference.

How did Tyson manage to not bite off the ear of a cop? Inquiring minds want to know.

Good for SAG!!!

As a “SAG eligible”, I have checked out some of the details.

When SAG members start being trashed, no doubt there will be the same misdirection concerning mean vs. median income. Same deal as for members of WGA. Most SAG actors don’t earn enough to even qualify for SAG health benefits (not free, paid).

FYI, the writers from both The Daily Show and The Colbert Report have been busy making a number of videos since the strike began. Writers from The Colbert Report created “Videologblog: Writers Strike” last week. The Daily Show’s Rob Kutner created “Fade to Black” in the first days of the strike, and fellow Daily Show scribe Tim Carvell gathered numerous friends together to respond to the AMPTP’s assertion (in ads taken out last week) that writers are paid residuals on ‘new media.’ The result was “How I Spent My Digital Download Residuals.”

Thank you, I hadn’t seen two thirds of those! :)

OT and probably reported before but it’s news to me. Via TNH, Rachel Paulose the Minnesota USA and resident Bushie and kook has resigned and will go back to the DOJ to do something or other for which she will be paid by American taxpayers until Bush leaves office.
