That was me Suzanne. I suggested the Wahoo Yahoos. I did consider the Yahoo (organisation) link but dammit, yahoo (non-capital) is a great word and I hate to see great words stolen.

She is in the middle of 10th grade. Don’t rush it folks.

Make sure that she provides a link to her best writing on the blog. But one that isn’t too filled with net-lingo. You’ve shared several with us and I’ve been impressed.

Also tailoring each application to what the school has to offer in terms of her interests is really useful. Showing that the prospective student knows something about the University environment, the Department offerings, faculty, and how all of that will be important to her reaching her dreams is quite useful. A lot of students send out boiler-room presentations that are so generalized that the Admissions board thinks “The gals great, but she’s gonna get in somewhere else…and not getting into our school isn’t gonna disappoint her.”

Make the application essay personalized to the school and they’ll think…”she’s got to get in here”!
