Kanye West, “Barry Bonds”
I know I’m not going to be the first person to say this, but who gives a fluted fuck whether or not Barry Bonds took performance enhancing drugs? Are we going to get weeks of Congressional hearings about this, too?
Because, you know, obviously nothing important is going on.
Jeebus.

TRex !!
I’ll have what mommybrain is having.
TRex!
TRex! Late night pups! How is everyone this chilly friday night?
Suzanne @ 5
I am bringing green bean salad tomorrow and bread. Do you need anything else?
Hey, TRex! Where’s the catblogging? It is Friday, you know.
who told downstairs?
I heard that Barry Bonds invaded Iraq and killed a million people leaving behind autographed baseballs in smashed up living room what kind of a sick joke has organized sport become?
If Jose Canseco testifies again, I’m goin’ big-screen hi-def. He’s a pretty one.
marymccurnin @ 8
You :)
Wait – what’s-her-name texting while driving her kids is obviously so much more important!!
Suzanne @ 10
Miss Zed did done.
TeddySanFran @ 12
Yeah, but IIRC he has a thing for smacking women around. Roid rage, ya know.
Suzanne @ 10
i did
madmommy @ 7
Hey, MM, ya can watch my Warriors now on ESPN, I’m extremely anxious, Boise State barely beat them… Nevada, that is…
We Gotta Get Out of This Place.
thanks ndfg
i sure wish all my late nite pups (and even the day time ones) could be here tomorrow at the little cottage by the creek in the redwoods.
CTuttle @ 18
Yes I’m tuned in. And the payment for watching this game is suffering through Dickie V calling the Memphis/UConn game just prior. Gawd he is an annoying little man.
marymccurnin @ 8
Could you take a small detour through Toronto and pick me up ?!! *g*
Y’all have lots of fun !
Suzanne @ 20
I wanna come!
madmommy @ 21
I couldn’t agree more, however, I think Madden is the absolute worst announcer around…
Suzanne @ 20
Wish I could be there…give everyone hugs.
Did you guys all see what Old Coastie has been fighting today?
Suzanne @ 20
Suzanne, there’s nothing I’d love more…please consider me there in spirit. :)
LooHoo, I saw where she contacted the SoS office re the initiative fraud. you mean something else?
CTuttle @ 24
Colt’s not playing, must still have a few birdies fluttering around his head. I was looking forward to seeing him rack up some serious yardage. Ah, well, can’t be risking brain injury-better safe than sorry.
Loo Hoo. @ 25
Catch me up please, I’ve been running about all day and am woefully behind on the news.
I’ll be sure to have a toast to all the pups who wish they were here but are attending in spirit only.
Hi TRex. How are you this evening? How’s the back?
CTuttle @ 24
What’s wrong with “ya godda get da ball inta de end zone”?
Could you take a small detour through Toronto and pick me up ?!! *g*
Y’all have lots of fun !
hey Petro:
my day took me to windermere & lakeshore
jane and wilson
keele and finch
back down to windermere & lakeshore
then shaw and king
then greenwood /gerrard area.
in a straight line i coulda made Kingston!
Suzanne @ 27
That’s what I meant, but it’s growing! Old Coastie was the first to report the petition signing as far as I know. Now they’re directing her to go to the District Attorney.
Apparently Issa is financing the whole crock! Old Coastie is my heroine!
Suzanne @ 30
Thank ye, ma’am !
Can’t wait! Just printed out the directions and the real directions; procured my hummus, dolmah, pita and Fresca today; changed my car reservation to a half-hour earlier; picked out two outfits, so I can choose which one in the morning!
FirePups Away !
Hope I get some sleep tonite, I am so excited !
GordonM @ 32
I just feel sorry for Al Michaels. You just know he’s nearly been knocked out of the booth more than once when Madden starts flinging those ham-sized hands around.
GordonM @ 32
madden is really good at things like that.
and
” he’s running like he’s supposed to. that’s why they got him. to run like that.”
TeddySanFran @ 36
Enjoy!
TeddySanFran @ 36
best to wear layers up here teddy.
GordonM @ 32
Gawd, he’s so annoying…
Mabel’s Wig Shack @ 33
LOL !!! Why were you driving all around Toronto … and that too on a Friday …
Loo Hoo. @ 34
Excellent news- Gooooo, Old Coastie!!
Suzanne @ 20
i’ll be there in spirit. One of these months i’ll get out to Bay area to visit sis again, hope to meet some NorCal pups then.
long story but a day with many stops and starts!!!
traffic pretty good all in all.
do you realize how many tim hortons there are!!!
Is OldCoastie still around? I’m not blonde and not all that terribly young, but I do have 2 small kids and live near a Target!
Madmommy, check this link to what Old Coastie has been working on.
Loo Hoo. @ 34
OMFG … Old Coastie is gonna take down Issa ?!!
((((( Old Coastie )))))
This is strange:
I am kinda scared of meeting y’all in person. What if we like each other better on the computer?
madmommy @ 38
LOL !
SnarKassandra @ 50
Could always go the other way where ya like someone even more in person.
TeddySanFran @ 49
the underground currency is already in place???????!!!!!!!!!??????????
Loo Hoo. @ 47
Thanks!
Mabel’s Wig Shack @ 45
Three to a block is the “official” quota …
TeddySanFran @ 36
Wow, sounds like you’re getting ready for a hot date Teddy.
Three to a block is the “official” quota …
:-)
Who are ya gonna meet Teddy?
Petrocelli @ 55
kinda like starsucks then (whoops – i mean starbucks)
SnarKassandra @ 50
over the years i’ve found that mostly if ya feel like family/kindred spirits online, you’ll like each other in person. You get to meet the inside, before you get a biased look at the book’s cover *g*
TeddySanFran @ 36
Can’t wait! Just printed out the directions and the real directions; procured my hummus, dolmah, pita and Fresca today; changed my car reservation to a half-hour earlier; picked out two outfits, so I can choose which one in the morning!
FirePups Away !
Hope I get some sleep tonite, I am so excited !
there are such good vibes around your enthusiasm!
persiflage @ 56
He is, with Suzanne! Oh, and a few more Firepups… ;-)
TeddySanFran @ 36
Oh, man, Teddy! Who’s taking pics? And thanks again to Newspaperbrat for offering to pick us up at the Monterey Airport!
Will someone please give a great big hug to Teddy for me tomorrow? And then another one from Daddy brain.
Cassie, you’re a writer. You know that you get to know someone deeper through their writing than you do face to face. There’s always other stuff going on with the body language and the blah blah blah. So you’re already ahead with all these guys.
SnarKassandra @ 50
Climb back in and close the door.
;>)
Wish I could be there, Suz. Kinda a long drive from Indiana.
Please take lotsa pics.
OT..but this is a great Digby-ism
link
Suzanne @ 59
LOL !!!
When you head out to the Burbs, the quota doubles … by the time you meet Hamilton, that’s all you see …
Sure hope the pups coming remember to bring their cameras since mine has passed on to its reward.
SnarKassandra @ 50
It is strange. You finally meet someone you have being communicating with through the keyboard and all of the notions you had about that person may be proven to be wrong. In some ways it is harder than meeting someone for the first time at a party or a business meeting.
Hi y’all – just making a quick peek before going to bed (work in the am), and saw this, which I thought the ‘pups would appreciate. Years and years ago I did some foreclosure prep at HUD, for a short time. I’m flabbergasted that this was going on, but thrilled that a judge has called the lenders on this outrage:
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/11…..mp;ei=5087
kinda like starsucks then (whoops – i mean starbucks)
Suzanne
kinda.
huge sri lankan ’serving’ community too working in the tim hortons.
i said ‘hello how are you’ to a woman last night probably on her feet for 8 hours (noone thinks of her as a barrista just a gas/water/coffee pump) and she beamed saying ‘thank you.’
So you see why I am kinda scared.
Suzanne @ 69
But, ya have DSL now, Ma Cheri, no excuses not to live-blog it! *g*
newdealfarmgrrrlll @ 60
Beautifully said by a beautiful Being !!!
The thing about Barry Bonds is he was a gifted athelete who had every advantage. He was a five tool player and probably lock for the Hall of Fame. But that wasn’t enough for him, he wanted to be beloved, like Mark McGuire. Trouble is, Barry is an ass. He treats the fans, the media and his teammates like crap. So he cheated, and got the homerun rcord away from McGuire, who probably also cheated. The amazing thing is Barry actually though no one would notice when he went from a normal sized, speedy outfielder to a middle linebacker after the age of thirty. Then there’s the unusual change in his head size.
Not that any of this matters one bit in the bigger picture. But it is a lesson, cheaters never win and winners never cheat.
SnarKassandra @ 73
I haven’t heard of any pups who bite, so far. You’re safe.
LOL !!!
When you head out to the Burbs, the quota doubles … by the time you meet Hamilton, that’s all you see …
Petrocelli
yeah. my uncle has a tim hortons in his rec room- :-)
but it’s okay. he closes the ‘drive through window’ early.
I don’t understand why you are scared cassie since you are not attending tomorrow.
Been gone for a couple of days, was there a lot of laughter about Cookie and Buzzy Krongrad? It does not look good for Cookie.
Suzanne @ 79
I didn’t go to the Texas ones yet.
Lea (no uh) @ 46
Where do you live approximately, Lea? I’m thinking I’ll go to my closest Target, pretend like I’ll sign, and walk away with the clipboard and all…with no fingerprints. This is the most blatant attempt to screw American voters yet. Stupidity of the highest order! Who would have thought they’d be that dumb? But, if you’re close enough, I’ll take pictures while you “sign”. This needs to be perfectly documented.
madmommy @ 76
bring back Roger Maris!!!!
Twain @ 77
TRex has giant teeth.
Sandman @ 80
Waxman is my hero!
Sandman @ 80
Cookie and Buzzy – what names ! They should go to jail just for that.
SnarKassandra @ 73
I haven’t met a lot of people in person after meeting them online but the ones I have met have all been just as great in person. There’s a bit of initial awkwardness when you adjust to the fact that they may not look or sound the way you expected but, after that, it’s like catching up with an old friend.
Federal Judge Boyko dismissed 14 foreclosure actions brought by Deutsche Bank National Trust for lack of written ownership records.
So, who does own these properties? How many parties own these properties? Were these assets leveraged more than once? Twice? More?
WTF
SnarKassandra @ 81
since we’ve all kinda made ourselves unofficial aunts/uncles/parents/grandparents must be like having a bunch of relatives waiting to pounce
Well, cassie, don’t do anything you are uncomfortable doing.
On the other hand, if you are meeting pups with your family there, what is there to be scared of? Do you think one of the pups will turn out to be a bad person who tries to harm you?
Twain @ 86
5 years minimum!!! :-()
Driving by on my way to bed — hi everyone! — with thoughts about the firepup meetup at Suz’s tomorrow:
If there were one firepup in all the world who I’d like to meet, it would be ((( all of you )))
Have a wonderful time, and take pics!
Good night
*poof*
SnarKassandra @ 50
Then we pretend the meetup never happened.
Loo Hoo. @ 82
I’m in Costa Mesa. (Yeah, I know…there was really NO excuse for me missing the meet-up)
newdealfarmgrrrlll @ 88
So do I get a bunch of Christmas cards?????
SnarKassandra @ 84
love TRex’s pic in your fb FDL Friends album!
Mabel’s Wig Shack @ 78
I know him … the cops thought he was a crack dealer, but so many cars pulling up made them realize it was a Timmy’s … *g*
Mabel’s Wig Shack @ 83
The chase nearly killed him. His hair fell out in clumps, other general misery. Imagine today’s media after him!
OMG, Teddy. Ron Paul thought he could start his own underground monetary system. Unbelievable.
One last note, and then I really am going to bed (FDL is so addictive):
Nancy Pelosi is supposed to be here tomorrow, 11/17/07, for a fundraiser for Ciro Rodriguez. That’s all I was able to find so far after hearing a brief mention on tv news. dunno where it is or if it’s day or evening. I’m at work till around 7 PM; any other So. Central Tex firepups want to search her out and try some street theater/confrontation/wave some “Impeach Now” signs around?
Goodnight LL, pleasant dreams!
SnarKassandra @ 94
fer shur a fb Xmas something
persiflage @ 87
few years ago i hung around in a yahoo chat room.
it started off as a brilliant and hilarious site but deteriorated over time.
anyway i did meet one person with similar interests and we’ve stayed in touch and boy has this person ever done a few amazing favours for me in terms of using her talents to help me out with projects. I’ve repaid her to a degree but have an idea down the road about something I can do for her, a big favour.
it’s a good exchange of energy. you never know who you’re going to meet or why.
find out where and when. tejanarusa. then email all of us and we’ll see what we can do.
Mabel’s Wig Shack @ 33
My condolences.
newdealfarmgrrrlll @ 60
I totally agree.
Nite, LL!
Suzanne @ 69
Putting in fresh batteries now.
Keep in mind Keith Olbermann started as a sports journalist. While you elitist liberals may not like sports, a lot of Americans do. What Barry Bonds did isn’t the biggest crime of the century, but he’s certainly a major sports figure involved in a big scandal, and for many baseball fans it has a big impact.
Personally I think our country spends too much time and energy elevating professional athletes to demigod status (as we all know, amateur athletes are the true heroes). But I think the rampant steroid use is a sign of the decline of the sense of right and wrong in our society. And oh yeah, Bush was a major force in introducing the drugs into baseball when he was an owner. The greedy owners thought juiced players hitting more home runs would be good for profits.
(I’m kidding about the “elitist liberals” thing, btw.)
Petrocelli @ 55
You’ve seen the Lewis Black “end of the world” routine? “I came out of a Starbucks, and there, across the street, was another Starbucks!”
Petro:
I know him … the cops thought he was a crack dealer, but so many cars pulling up made them realize it was a Timmy’s … *g*
ha :-)
madmommy @ 100
So far, the defense has shown up tonite! 8-)
SnarKassandra @ 84
…And little forelimbs.

Sorry I can’t join in the Madden Roast … I’m watching Monsoon Wedding on Sundance … what a great movie …
TeddySanFran @ 107

by “here” do you mean san antonio?
CTuttle @ 112

GordonM @ 109
True Story … in Downtown Toronto, there is an intersection with a Starsucks (H/T Suzanne) at every corner … at least there used to be …
Gordon M:
You’ve seen the Lewis Black “end of the world” routine? “I came out of a Starbucks, and there, across the street, was another Starbucks!”

greenwarrior @ 116
Is she going to be able to avoid SF this holiday, too? Scared to come home. Pitiful.
Loo Hoo. @ 19
I sang that over and over in high school.
I heard that Cookie Krongard never sent an auditor to Iraq. That way you never find any fraud, it is brilliant, but may get you sent to prison.
My condolences.
*******
thanks fern! :-)
Netroots Nation 2008 (formerly YearlyKos) is gonna be in Austin, Texas. Any one considering going?
friend of mine told me about a guy he knew afraid to leave his house.
that it would be turned into a starbucks.
Sandman @ 123
Natch … Dubya has the Pardon Pen … is darkblack around ?!! *g*
Whoopsie! Looks like the Corps of Engineers has screwed up again. But we’re supposed to trust them when they say the levees are built like they’re supposed to be. http://www.wwltv.com/local/sto…..058e3d.htm
look up pet, he commented several comments above yours

“hey nancy. feel like waking up?’

Ask George W. Bush about this.
Suzanne @ 129
Oh, I know … I thought of db’s “Dubya’s Pen” as I wrote that … *g*
Petrocelli @ 113
Oh that one is a joy.
Loo Hoo. @ 130
So long as W is walking this earth there is still time for karma to come around. I believe she is just waiting for the perfect moment. Do wish she’d hurry up, though.
News Flash:
Netroots Nation to be in Austin next summer July 17 -20. $175 til Nov 30, then it goes up to $250.
http://www.netrootsnation.org/register
Aaargh! Unbelievably enough, I’ll be in California at healing school through July 19. Well, maybe I’ll find a way to go to the last day. Ends at 2pm.
Good for all the rest of the Central Texas pups.
Suzanne, have a blast with the pups. Wish I was coming.
I plan to go to Netroots Nation. Room on the couch for 2 who are willing to share a bed.
Suzanne @ 20
Would love to. I know the santa cruz area pretty well and it’s just lovely up there… Evening, all!
Margot @ 121
Oh me too — and then my brother introduced me to lots of music. His band was a Philly/Wilmington small gig, but it was lots of fun.
PLovering @ 88
It’s the ownership of the loan. Buy from the bank, the bank sells the mortgage, the buyer lumps a bunch of mortgages together and sells pieces of the bunch. The judge is saying “Whoa asshole, show me you actually bought the mortgage on this house”.
Federal judge. Clearly not a Bush appointee.
This new pic of Ashcroft with Minnie Lou (his scantily attired nemesis from the Bush administration) is priceless.
Loo Hoo. @ 82
Hell I’m game. I don’t go nowhere without a camera *evil grin*
Petrocelli @ 132
We’re watching a very emotional moment of Monsoon Wedding and my wife is wondering
why I’m laughing … that’s why I nevvuh go to Operas … *g*
tex, ya mean room for two willing to share the couch?
Petrocelli @ 119
You’re trying to tell me Toronto is the true Holy Land??? Toronto? Beaten 6-2 by the Bruins?? HAHAHAHAHAHA!
ccmask @ 139
I’m surprised she didn’t scare the crap out of him again.
ccmask @ 140
Did it ever occur to him to move the press conferences a bit to the side so the statue wasn’t right over his head? Lots cheper than an 8K curtain. Freakin prude.
Suzanne @ 142
yep. it’s a sofa bed.
Lea (no uh) @ 94
Oh, well then we will see you next time, dear. No problem. Let’s see where this petition signing is going on, and be there for each other if need be. I’m thinking that it is so out there, that they have stopped the illegal activity that Old Coastie saw. Maybe not, though.
Suzanne @ 142
I think you take off the cusions and a bed folds out.
geez, a girl goes away to take a little nap and…
no, I don’t think I was the first to call the Sec of State’s office – maybe the 2nd or 3rd… more would be better…
no, I don’t think I’m bringing down Issa, I only read about that this afternoon… but I wouldn’t MIND being the one to bring down Issa, but I don’t suppose simple intention is enough.
I suspect that the petitioners have picked Target as a target… but they also may be at Walmart tomorrow and other large those type stores. They seem to be targeting parents – particularly women – of young children first – I’m guessing the strategy is to pick people who are in a hurry.
Yes, LOOK for these guys – see someone gathering signatures? Find out what for. I don’t think I would actually SWIPE the clipboard or damage the petition. No point in us getting arrested for anything. But if you can run the voice recorder on your cell phone or it has a movie camera, I’d see if I can catch these guys unawares.
If you should get a hit with someone who presents the petition as a ballot initiative for a children’s cancer hospital or they are talking up eminent domain, JACKPOT! Try to approach them when they are not super busy – its the perfect excuse that they “forgot” because of the crowd.
All’s I did was create a stink every time they approached someone who looked to nice to say, “no” to them. General fussing seem to drive off most everyone and their petitions had NO signatures on ‘em when I left. I didn’t yell or cuss. I just said things like, “be careful what your signing! they are trying to fool you!”
The biggest problem I created for myself was now I can’t document the situation because I’ve already tipped my hand. Multiple complaints to the Sec of State’s office will help, but actual evidence would be golden.
I did call just everyone… SoS, registrar of voters, all the tv stations, emailed the newspapers… everyone I could think of… at some point there will be momentum. I only knew about this because I very accidently tripped over a diary at DKos – I only visit once or twice a week and only read a couple articles, so big accident! If I hadn’t a read it, I probably would have just walked right past the petitioners…
but you guys are really sweet! ;-)
Fern @ 133
Mira Nair shot the entire movie in 30 days to capture the Monsoon atmosphere,
with handheld cameras and captured the essence of an Indian wedding/family !
Be sure to keep us posted on how the Target voter fraud goes.
Sandman @ 149
The kiddos think one of the best things about going to granny’s house is they get to sleep on a sofa bed. My spine hurts at the very idea :0)
SnarKassandra @ 94
Yes you do!
TexBetsy @ 136
might take you up on that ;-)
GordonM @ 144
Sorry dood, I’m a Sens fan … nice to know the Bruins can beat someone though … *g*

Mad Mommy, didja see the Haka…? ;-)
well, Mary, I was just very mad… that’s all…

I don’t really follow sports, but heard a guy on the radio today (now that Air America has been axed in San Diego) saying that Bush’s response to Bonds being indicted was the same as his response to Libby being indicted. Disappointment for the family, et. al. Maybe this has political legs?
Loo Hoo. @ 162
bush’s culture of corruption extends to baseball
Loo Hoo. @ 162
can i hope that boosh sold bonds’ trainer steriods and the feds have it on tape? please? with cheney being the bagman?
Petrocelli @ 142
years ago one of my brothers went to a ghodawful movie with his girlfriend. Movie was Love Story, a sappy sad tearjerker. He couldn’t help laughing a lot, his girlfriend broke up with him.
OldCoastie @ 161
That will do it every time. Works for me.
CTuttle @ 161
Yep. Think the natives are influencing the mainlanders to grow their hair long? I noticed quite a few. Seems like it would be an easy target for opponents to grab unless they put it up. Troy Polomalu (sp?) with the Steelers always wears his loose durring games.
TexBetsy @ 164
Look what he did to the Rangers, it wasn’t pretty…!
Petrocelli @ 127
He dood it
;>)
Margot @ 122
We just didn’t know how true it would become, huh?
TexBetsy @ 103
Hi, TexBetsy:
I can’t believe how long it’s taken to find the bits I’ve come up with. 1, a rally for SChip at Milam Park in SA (Santa Rosa St at Commerce, more or less – across from Santa Rosa Children’s Hospital, downtown).
2) a fundraiser for Ciro at “the home of Frank Herrera,” a well-known lawyer. Unfortunately I haven’t a clue where his home is, and I really, really gotta go to bed. The fundraiser must be int he evening.
CTuttle @ 169
And they’re still a crapy team. The stench lingers, evidently.
My Nyquil Sinus is kicking in so I’m signing out, but I will try to go by Target and the grocery stores tomorrow and look for petitions. My darling hubby just told me he signed one that he had to sign 4 times, so now he’s pissed.
newdealfarmgrrrlll @ 125
I already registered! It’s $50 cheaper than if you wait until December 1.
OldCoastie!
I wanted to tell you to try some Slippery Elm throat lozenges.
http://www.vitaminshoppe.com/s…..ku=TA-1008
That’s what the package looks like.
TexBetsy @ 164
My feeling is the Repugs would love a media frenzy around Barry to draw attention away from them.
Suzanne @ 151
I’ve heard of targeted voting fraud.
I have to go do laundry. Charge up the camera.
Check the train schedule. Set the alarm clock.
And hop in the bed like it is Christmas Eve and I am five.
See ya soon!!
madmommy @ 167
That’s because he goes into full warrior mode during a game. His hair was yanked once last year and all it did was fire him up, as well as the rest of the defense.
Was US Attorney Kevin Ryan fired because he would not hold off on indicting Barry Bonds until after Barry broke the all time home run record?
newdealfarmgrrrlll @ 166
LOL … hey NDFG … didja see my comment @ 75 ?
Lea (no uh) @ 180
Yeah, I read that in an SI profile last year. Struck me funny he puts his hair up all week then lets it fly on sundays. I’d take him to play for the Saints any day of the week!
Loo Hoo. @ 175
good for you! Don’t know if i can afford to sign up so early, looming veterinarian bills …
tejanarusa @ 172
It’s certainly preferable to take our “Impeach Now” message to a public rally than a private home. And more likely to get press attention, too.
CTuttle @ 169
… but it was a precursor to what he’d do to America …
Lea (no uh) @ 180
Heh, I dare ya to pull their hair…! :P
darkblack @ 170
Priceless, db … how’s it goin’, eh ?

hey eg – gonna be so good to have a familiar face i already know tomorrow :) looking forward to seeing ya again
I’m rather enjoying my home made cold medicine… honey in Emergen-C! and a tablespoon of brown liquor… my throat doesn’t hurt, I’m not getting much sicker and I really don’t care!

Now that Colt let the bleached islands look grow out, and he’s done dreadlocks, the logical next step is to just let it grow! He’d fit right in with the rest of the linemen.
peanutbutter @ 141
Let’s all check out our local Targets or mass petition signing places. If we find crapola, lets go and take pics. Lea-no-a, we need your email addy.
It’s been a week for me of two fabulous speakers: Paul Krugman was here Tuesday and he’s as good a speaker as he is a writer. Better even.
Then tonight I went to see an amazing woman, Alison Weir. She’s started an organization called “If Americans Knew”. She came from being a journalist for a small paper to wondering about the reporting of the Israeli/Palestinian conflict and did some major studies of the reporting. Many more Israeli deaths reported in our MSM than Palestinian. She’s got the studies, graphs and charts and is also a wonderful speaker and MSM isn’t publishing her results. She’s been over there a couple of times and now has her photos too. She’d be a great speaker at Netroots Nation. And well worth seeing if she’s showing up in a city near you.
http://www.IfAmericansKnew.org
Sandman @ 181
It always seemed odd to me that this firing wasn’t a problem for DiFi. The papers always implied Ryan was universally disliked and thought not up to the job. But a Bonds connection would make sense.
Just unloaded a cord or so of spruce from the back of my truck. Wazzup, pups?

The little guy informed me today that there will be “no hair cuts anymore, mommy”. I told him his hair would be as long as his girl cousin, he does not care. He throws a major fit at the salon so I put it off as long as I can. Maybe he’s destined to play the line at Hawaii??
Wow!! John Kerry called the bluff of T. Boone Pickens, several time world champion of poker, who later turned his gambling talents to corporate takeovers. And, T. Boone backed down! Wow!!
That should be highlighted on the sports page. John Kerry takes down T. Boone.
Kerry’s accomplishments under real fire from real bullets are truly astounding. For instance, McCain was looking at his instrument panel when the shooting was going on. Kerry was looking at his enemy person to person, chasing him down, in his enemy’s territory. We’re talking serious face-to-face one-man-lives shit. Kill or be killed.
What the fuck is wrong with Democratic campaign consultants that they could let something like that be turned into a liability in a time of war? IMHO, the Democrats have been plagued with the worst campaign managers on the face of this planet.
Last night (Thursday) I saw Joe Trippi on Hardball. He whined for a couple of minutes about the corporate money that Hillary had accepted. When Tweety said, “So what?” Trippi was stuck for an answer, and so simply started repeating himelf.
Bob Shrum has also been a disaaster. The best I can say for him is that he writes the best concession speeches in the business.
It does appear that Hillary’s people did a very good job of preparing her since the last debate, but I can’t say the same for Obama’s and Edward’s people.
Another thing was watching Kerry get handed his ass by Bush twice in a row at two separate debates with the line: “He had access to the same intelligence I did.” What the fuck! The president of the United States is responsible for the quality of its intelligence products. Moreover, if senators get the same intelligence briefings as the president of the United States, whoever is ultimately responsible for this nation’s intelligence products is a big time fuckup.

Pups in the BlueState by the Bay, i.e. Massachusetts, who can’t be among the pups in the redwoods might want to join the Next Hurrah neighbors at a conference at Boston College on news reporting, where Marcie Emptywheeler will be speaking.
There is a meet-up afterwards at a bar near Fenway Park (Paak in Bostonian)
Search for BlueState and you will find the name of the meet up place and the way to identify some of the usual suspects who will be there.

As for you in CA, as was discussed here early this AM. Seems the ballot petition fraud is state-wide and becoming a big issue, esp. since Issa has been caught doing fraudulent things as well.

Guess who gets to lead the panel picking the new brigadier generals? These are the army’s leaders for the next two decades.
TRex did the back heal up?
I was thinking of getting one of those little digital recorders – some of them kinda look like a cell phone and trawling for petitioners with that in hand… that specific business where they say, “bla-bla – children’s hospital -bla-bla BE SURE TO SIGN ALL THE COPIES” is the part that is so illegal…
I also would want to get a good pic of the clipboard set-up with the big rubber band and then it diassembled with a shot of the electoral college petition on the bottom of the stack.
then be able to download it and put up a little youtube! what fun!

Hey all.
Anybody tried calling the regional offices of Target / WalMart / KMart etc. to put their store managers on alert to be on watch for Darryl’s fraudsters and run ‘em off?
CTuttle, triple bonus points for spelling General Eric Shinseki’s name right. How did you do that?

Its worth remembering that when Shrub was given the Texas Rangers to play with and when the issue of expanding the playoffs by creating ‘Wild Card’s was voted on the lone ( and I do mean the ONLY vote) against it was George W. Bush. He remarked that he had been seriously out voted, but also said that history would prove him right about this. The playoff expansion has been a lot bigger Bonanza than most could have hoped for. This guy truly is a modern day version of the opposite of a King Midas. History’s King ‘Brown Thumb’.

As soon as I heard, I put it into the FDL OT comments earlier today, but no one responded and I also let the rest of the Central Texas Firepups know, but AAAAARGh! It looks like I may not get to meet everyone when it’s right here in my own front yard. AAAARgh again!

Over a year down. We had a Spruce Bark Beetle plague pass though between 1999 and 2004. People are cleaning out the standing deadwood. But this is from a landscaping project, where a bunch of small Sika spruce were cut down. First time I’ve used Craig’s List. Over a cord for $100. I only had to drive three miles to get it.

BlueStateRedHead, thanks so much for keeping us up-to-date. Old Coastie was on the job before any of of would have known, and you verify!!
I need some help. From the late sixties through the seventies and perhaps into the eighties, I remember newspaper articles mentioning T. Boone Pickens winning major p*ker championships, big moeny stuff in Las Vegas. This was back in the days when five-card stud was the players’ game, well before Texas hold ‘em.
During the big merger play that started in the eighties after the election of Reagan, I saw his name prominently mentioned among the “corporate raiders” and said to myself that he had simply move from a small-stakes game to a big-stakes one.
Where I seem to need help is that on the web I’m having difficulty finding evidence of his p*ker successes. I swear I’m not crazy … I swear it … I really remember it … ;-)

Alberto Gonzales’ Advice For Mukasey: “Follow The Law. That Was My Lodestar.”
from Huff Po by The Huffington Post News Editors
Yesterday, former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales spoke at the Corpus Christi Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, giving his views on “immigration, education and public service.” The event drew approximately 1,000 attendees, as well as a few protestors who greeted Gonzales outside the venue.
He dodged questions about waterboarding by local station KIII-TV, but did give some words of advice for his successor, Michael Mukasey:
To do the right thing. And I have every confidence that Mike Mukasey will do the right thing. Always do the right thing. Follow the law. That was always my lodestar, my guiding principle, and I’m sure that will guide General Mukasey.

Favorite Maddenism: a discourse on how it’s real easy not to have a big ego when you’re losing, see; it’s when you win that it’s hard not to have a big ego.
Delivered in connection with the Jerry Jones firing of Jimmy Johnson after last the Super Bowl that they won together. Followed closely by some maunderings on how the trouble with giving to get is trying to get back at least the yards that you gave to get.
I guess he’s ok with me, as long as they keep the telestrater away from him.
Loo Hoo. @ 82
Don’t interfere with the process LooHoo. There are laws against preventing a signature collector from obtaining signatures. You can’t harass or threaten them, and you definitely can’t take the petitions “for evidence”.
Simply document the illegal acts, and you can notify those tricked that they have recourse to challenge their being misinformed. Try to get any recording number that might be on the petition and the date.
One strategy is to make sure that you go up early and see if they have the rubber band around the clip board, note the time, and then, have someone else go by later and see if they are following the same procedure and note the time. All the signatures between your name and your colleagues names very likely would have been illegally obtained, having not demonstrated the actual name and summary of the Initiative. Maybe have your friend see how many names have accumulated since you signed.
This should give the DA evidence of the extent. And indicate that the collection was tainted and repeatedly so.
Also important is the fact that others may have been using the same “collection technique” across the State. Thus the collectors appear to be “briefed” on how to actually violate the law…there seems to be a pattern. This could occur in two ways. One is that the company hired to collect the signatures (Arno Political Consulting of Sacramento) are informing their collectors how to do this. The other possibility is that those recruited for the collecting are actually members of a political group such as College Republicans or Young Americans for Freedom and that someone else, perhaps a well-known politician who supports the initiative has “supplemented” their training with advice.
I just sent an email to Old Coastie to tell her about another curious similarity between her experience and another case of Arno Initiative malfeasance up in Willamette, Oregon.
http://wweek.com/editorial/3017/4853
OldCoastie mentioned that one of the Signature Gatherers droned on about how one initiative was about “Imminent Domain”…and this caught my eye from the ABOVE incident from 2004
Hmmm!
PLovering @ 88
Deutsche Bank is a big Trust Fund…major supporter of John Edwards ($45,000) and Hillary Clinton ($20,000) by bundling employee contributions.
Hmmm. @ 231
Not sure if the can do this. The assumption is that they are supposed to be acting legally…what one needs to really do is catch them and taint the signature collecting process as fraudulent. Catching them in the act with video and having it on TV is great. It informs people that these people are slime balls, and alerts them to the possiblity that they may have been fooled as well. More complaints to the newspapers, TV, State AG and the Secretary of State the better.
GordonM @ 139
The judge ruled that there was no proper recording with local government offices of the property titles, mortgage contracts and assignments of Deutsche Bank’s claimed ownership, in writing, per requirements of the pertinent law.
cinnamonape – what email address did you use? if yahoo, apparently, I hadn’t logged in for awhile.
If anyone looks at who does and doesn’t get prosecuted by the feds under George W. Bush you begin to see a pattern.
For example, can anyone remember the last FEDERAL prosecution of dogfighting before Michael Vick? But while the feds were all concerned about mistreatment of animals in Virginia a criminal gang operating out of Langley is kidnapping people off the street and flying them to secret locations where they are tortured and sometimes murdered.
The Rethugs are racist bastards who keep generating show trials against black men for propaganda purposes. I guess that they had to move against Bonds because the OJ in Vegas show wasn’t getting the expected ratings.
