Okay, let me be the first to say that perhaps Governor Perdue was on to something with that whole "Pray for Rain" thing, because it's finally raining here. Sweet, beautiful rain.
I'm going to sleep like a baby tonight.
So, this is my favorite song about rain.

Do you like Singing in the Rain? I’m fond of dancing with an umbrella….
(hi and bye dearies).
I would just like to reiterate what I said on the last thread. The holidays are too important to spend with people who do not make you happy.

We have decided to spend them with my darling old Liberal Mother (for the most part) and fake the rest.
The fundies love the logic error of:
Post hoc ergo propter hoc.
Or as they says in the South, “When it rains and you see frogs; it doesn’t mean that it was raining frogs.”
who came up with the term nom de blog?
Rainy Night in Georgia.
Good version.

great fun!
If Denny retires, the average congressional poundage will be reduced by the mass of a bowling ball.
I like pina collatas; getting caught in the rain… lol
No, really, my favorite song about rain ( having lived several years in the Pacific NorthWET ) is : I Can See Clearly Now the Rain is Gone. ;)
Rainy Night in Soho - the Pogues

Boy, we have had the best music inthe last hour!
Laura Doty @ 24
Thanks, that’s one of my favorites (song and actor)
I grew up in Oregon. We had no songs about the rain. As far as we knew, there was no life without rain- to sing about it would be like singing about earth.
Damn, why don’t I have more David Ruffin in my life? He’s tearing this song up.
TRex @ 25
Amen!!!

Sorry to not stick around, but I am getting sleepy. this cool air that swept in tonight is going to make for some comfy snuggling down in bed.
I Wish it Would Rain.
sleep well gnome
i love this Stan Rogers song Field Behind the Plow, the lyrics reference rain, “… and it figures that the rain would take its own sweet time, you can see it come for miles …” (course an ol farmgrrrlll would like a song like this)
(the celtic band Poor Angus does the cover). If you don’t know the work of the late, great Canadian folkie Stan Rogers you’re missing a great talent.
BJ Thomas … Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head
Crying in the Rain.

I love the song “the thunder rolled” but don’t do the youtube thing.

He was from Toccoa, Georgia, my ex husband’s home town.
I’d link to the source of “bedlam is dreaming of rain,” but I don’t want to invoke that magic (not even to mention its title.)

i’ll see your LEL. LOL. i’m glad you’re happy running with the fast crowd now.

Night, all departing pups…
Jeeze, I’m way outclassed here. All I can think of is “Rain rain go away” :-P
rwcole @ 71
I actually never went roller skating except once against my will on a class trip. That was entirely too much contact with people I already saw more than I wanted to during the school day. I was so much more interested in hanging out on Pern.
Early Mornin’ Rain
TRex,
OT a bit. Missed last night but read today’s comments and went back and listened to your voice. You must get your “peeps” down in Athens to get you a wider audience. Love your intellect/voice here but your vocal delivery gave me the shivers. What a talent.
Man, I need to eat something. Must. Tear. Myself. Away.
Earth Wind and Fire - happy at the roller disco
TRex @ 76
Pern as in Dragonriders of, etc?
Jane (nyc) @ 78
Aw. Thanks.
I am so much more confident about my writing these days than I am my singing. And my last guitarist was SO FUCKING GOOD. How am I going to find somebody that good again?
Sigh.
It will happen when it’s time, just like falling in love. You can’t force it.
We will sell no whine before its time.

I know im so gay.
The very one.
Except that I am clearly a Harper, not a Dragonrider.
Although I do sort of like the sound of T’Rex.
Green riders were gay, though, so I could probably hack it. I always had a thing for F’Nor, and he rode a brown.
okay, howzabout a Rain Dance?
The most fun about roller skating was speed. If you learned to do a crossover step- you could continuously accelerate- until your velocity caused you to lose contact with earth and crash into the rail with the centrifugal force of the planet Jupiter.
i used to roller skate, speed skating, back in HS
I just totally busted myself as a Pern geek.
You understand that we are the lowest of the low.
Beneath Star Wars geeks. Way below Tolkeinists.
Possibly even lower than Furries.
Pern geeks.
*hangs head in shame*
I have a guitar made in Hawaii- by- oh hell- I CAN’T REMEMBER WHO MADE IT. But it’s the greatest guitar I’ve ever heard- was pickin at it tonight- and it sounds like wild thunder.

Kinda rough video, and less than a year before Jerry died, but what a heartfelt tune. I love his ballads! Sure could’ve used some of his sunshine the last 7 years…

*gasp* … even lower than Trekkies ?!!

Credence - Have you ever seen the rain?
Oops, Beatles was a repeat. Sorry.
TRex @ 91
I dunno, i read DragonSong as a young girl in the 80s. I was as rebellious as Menolly with the same passion for music. So i think you’d be one of many Harpers, TRex. ^^ I just consider the Pern thing as one of many facets of my girlgeekery. I know many ‘universes’ and adore them all.
TexBetsy @ 97
Sleep the sleep of the just, Betsy !
I’m out as well … G’ nite all !
TRex @ 87
Sigh. My Pern books are all packed away in storage. I so wanted to be Menolly.
TRex @ 91
That’s okay. Big time pern geek here too…!
*laughs* See my 102, NDFG. I’m right there with ya.
PERN?
Oh well.
Night all.
Can someone digg up Hendrix’s Rainy Day, Dream Away - - - I’m too old and inept to know how to link-up.

this one?
Petrocelli @ 84
Hey fella,
Hope all is well “up north”. I owe you an email but life has been chaotic. Am at my mother’s in rural NC. Looks like I may be transitioning to a small town life after 25 years in Manhattan. The matriarch of the family (my mom) is too sharp to go into a “home” but can no longer live alone. FDL may truly become one of my only links to the erudite world if I end up here with her.
or this one?
TRex @ 91
Aw, c’mon, no book fandom is lower than Trekkies and Furries!
I read all the early ones when I was a teenager, and we actually got to have “tea with Annie” when we visited Ireland about ten years ago.
Forty days and forty nights can’t wash the smell of you off my knickers—
Country Frank and the Fishermen.
CTuttle @ 64
yes, thank you
very much!
TRex @ 91
don’t let my daughters see this! they already think their mother is the dweebiest of the dweebs. Tho they are not above trying to weasel trivia out of me when they play LOTR Monopoly with my sister.
ahhh. i got turned on to ann peebles by my co-worker at the cool hip happening record store i worked at during college in santa cruz. had the rare privilege of seeing ms. peebles do this song at a local club.
my fav rain song already mentioned several times: ronette’s “walking in the rain”. from my limited edition set of phil spector 45s in red vinyl. purchased at the cool hip happening record store in santa cruz with my employee discount.
I’ve felt the coldness of my winter…

Are you a roller derby Queen? ;)
