What, so Laura is using the phrase “Power to the People” – coined by people who were trying to end discrimination so that they could actually VOTE and WORK and eat in the same restaurants and ride the same buses – to inspire modern-day conservatives to react against offensive televisions shows for their thirteen-year olds?

Ahem…actually, coming together in her dress is better than coming together on her dress. At least the “in her dress” is closer to “correct” procedure. If she must be wearing her dress while the time comes (so to speak) then at least the action is in the correct ballpark. ON dresses is the realm of porno (or accidents).

What we need to know is just how much and who has the subprime loans now?
Under what conditions do banks have to report losses on loans and under what conditions will banks force hedgefunds to start selling assets if they haven’t already.
Also if we are going to bail out the hedges it sure woud be nice if they had to report truthfuly in accordance with standard accounting practices their results after their 2% of assets invested and 20% of profit fees.
I’m guessing that in a forced sale enviroment none of the hedges are doing well even if fees were discounted. Not that we would know hedges only report results when the news is good or when their broke.

Not as bad as the Atlanta area or that little GA town that’s having to truck in the better part of their water but a lot of the SE US is headed in that direction. I come from a farming family (and still derive a substantial portion of retirement income from it) so people who keep on using a critical resource for anything more than the bare necessities don’t garner a lot of tolerence on my part. {{Thanks for askin’.}}

I wonder if Bobo is going to write again without a SINGLE FACT backing him up about just how well the Bush economy is doing.
Us peons just don’t see the results, but then again after the ongoing subprime mess even Bush’s elite base isn’t seeing any results either.
The important thing to know about subprime is leverage. Sure getting a $100,000 loan to buy a home and having the interest rate go up in a declining housing market means bankrupcy for you, which is terrible!
But what about the poor banks who loaned hedgefunds the money at 10-1 or even 14-1 leverage? Meaning for every dollar of colatral a hedgefund had they were allowed to borrow $10 or even $14.
Your bankrupcy despite no income no job ninja loans only costs the bank $100,000. Now if because of you and people like you filing bankrupcy a hedge funds fails at 10 or 14 to one leverage.
Well the bank will force the fund to sell assets, stocks are an asset you can reedem quick if they don’t sell then lower the price until somebody buys.
I expect a lot of buying oppertunties in the future as Hedgefunds are forced to sell stock to make payments on the loans they borrowed from banks to buy subprime loans. These sales could keep the market low for a year or two.
I wonder if any hedgefunds like Bush 1’s Carlyle group or Mitt’s Bain Capital were dumb enough to max out their credit buying subprime loans from banks?

IRT ‘The View’, I think Bill O’Reilly will be on today. I’m betting that he will be very charming and make a joke when confronted with his lies. He will flatter Whoopi and Jay and all the rest and try to disarm them with his charm. IMO, that’s his MO.
