“then why can’t the corporate media, with their millions and millions of dollars and all the advanced high-tech equipment available to them, why can’t they do it? And that’s the unanswered question.”

News consumers like to blame what is referred to as corporate media. Despite being a corporation, there are still human beings at the top who decide on what and how the “news” will be presented. More importantly these corporate humans also decide whom to hire.

It is obvious that there is more than one person in news organizations who are undercover agents for gov’t agencies. The president of Iran softly accused John Roberts on this during their interview not too long ago.

Roberts’s questioning methodology and the content of the questions provoked the Iranian president to say “You question me like you are a CIA agent.” (paraphrase) I think the Iranian president was not so subtle in his attempt to tip off the American people.

So is it any wonder why the millions of $$$ and resources available to the MSM are used to produce basically the same message, the same info-product that is coming out of Washington? Is it any wonder why the administration has been given so much operating room by the MSM in regards to their illegal activities? To be specific, Plame, missing emails, Torture, rigging of the DOJ, domestic spying.

If you were a spy agency, wouldn’t it be in your best interest to plant as many agents into the MSM as possible? Think about it.
What does this mean? We have been seeing what this means in the form of blood and debt.

Thank goodness for Dahr Jamail and this book, which clearly represents a vital, eyewitness contribution to our understanding of the effects of our involvement in Iraq - for those who will read it - in our own language.

Don’t believe his assessment, Members of Congress? Does his account clash too much with your trusty sources of “classified” information in the Pentagon and elsewhere in the Executive Branch? Then by all means invite Mr. Jamail to testify to one of your committees, and cross-examine him to your heart’s content; unless of course, as seems likely, the truth is the last thing you want to be publicly told, about Iraq.

Siun @151

Of course Bechtel got paid. Otherwise they’d have sued and there is no less controllable information source than a civil trial.

Bottom line… Do you think the USA wants chaos and will use that as a cover to somehow gain access to oil in the region?

Condi Rice has spoken of this directly…and as the US policy in the region continues, it is growing more difficult for me to argue that this is not deliberate.

Dahr, do you have a source and a link for her comment?

Also, thank you for your incredible courage and writing. Reading your book fills me with shame at my country’s actions. Since you are still in the middle east and will no doubt continue to see refugees, please tell them for me (and for all of us) we are so sorry for this ravge and destruction to human life.

Thank you for providing your insight and observations. I perceive a disconnect in what caring Americans think that they can do (or not do as the case may be), and the perception that Americans are not interested. I believe that the lack of coverage by traditional media is intentional and serves the purpose of furthering the aims and objectives of the military-industrial-governmental complex.

What we must continue to do is to remain informed and essentially perform the same sort of mission and work as the original Sons of Liberty - spreading the word in a timely and accurate fashion.

I do believe that the US has already experienced a coup, and that there are now two distinct “we’s”: the we of the government elected and appointed officials, who are accountable and who respond solely to the corporatists, lobbyists and partisans, and the we of we the people who are now without any means of effective representation and who are intentionally, deliberately and increasingly oppressed.

This will make it extraordinarily difficult to bring pressure to bear on withdrawing military presence from Iraq and bringing robust, effective and genuine diplomatic and economic efforts in its place.

I now wonder if it won’t take the UN and external pressure - e.g. sanctions - against the US to force changes in a direction more compatible with our former republic.
