That’s funny, because I’m sure the reverse is also true.

For years I’ve been trying to do my little bit to restore the Constitution and support the principles of the Republic–only to find my contribution to the Democratic Party often going to some Corporate whore or worse.

Now, whenever I am ticked off because of some idiocy wherever, I fire off a small check to Act Blue to support the appropriate progressive candidate.

Robert Rubin was the Treasury Secretary under Clinton. Pres. Bill Clinton, Rubin, and Greenspan were responsible for the repeal of the Glass-Steagall Act of 1933 (the act bans commercial banks from underwriting securities, forcing banks to choose between being a simple lender or an underwriter (brokerage). The repeal is responsible for the mess of the subprime mortgage/credit crunch disaster.
Here’s the kicker: Just days after the administration (including the Treasury Department) agrees to support the repeal, Treasury Secretary Robert Rubin, the former co-chairman of a major Wall Street investment bank, Goldman Sachs, raises eyebrows by accepting a top job at Citigroup as Weill’s chief lieutenant. That’s my feeling as well. However bad she is, she’s better than any of the (R) candidates. I only hope there are any choices by the time I get to vote in a primary (in May).
