So you know, Steny Hoyer isn’t the most progressive Democrat in the world. If you think there’s no difference between having him or having Tom DeLay in that position, I’m not sure what planet you’re living on. It isn’t this one.

And, Jane, I’d still like to get a source for that quote. It’s pretty damning. I just want to know if it’s actually true.

How dare you destroy this NATION?! Your Legislative Branch of government – under first Republican and now Democratic control – is vying to be the most catastrophically failed Congress in our nation’s history.

Members of Congress: The “party game” is over – this nation can simply not afford to continue to tolerate a Congress full of people who defer to the corrupt agenda(s) of the tiny minority of party members who have been allowed to wield all power – in the name of, and in lieu of the independent judgement of, over half the membership of the House (and thus in the name of at least half the population of this country).

The nation, outside D.C., is over the major political parties. You either recognize this, and act accordingly to free your own conscience and will to act as you see fit as a good faith public servant – rather than deferring to the orders of others – or your political party, and your own seat, will be very, very much at risk next year and thereafter. In other words: Mr. Hoyer, Ms. Pelosi and Mr. Emanuel are deliberately, if blindly and unknowingly, sinking the future prospects of their political party every day, by their actions to enforce a corporate status quo, and by their lack of actions to meaningfully safeguard the liberty and the well-being of we, the people by reinstating our Constitutional system of government. They will be only too happy to blame the failure of the party on you, when the bill comes due, but they are kidding no one outside the Beltway – we know very well who is driving that bus. Yet we also know that those who are passengers can no longer remain passively seated and silent, in good conscience.

The Executive Branch is our top-down, hierarchical branch of government. The Legislative Branch must be a democratic, open and inclusive arena, that welcomes free and full debate among its equally-weighted members, never mind the decades of corrupted process brought to us by the two political parties in service to power for its own sake; a corrupted, power-mad hierarchical process that has helped to bring our nation to its knees.

Do your nation a favor, and act in its best interests, party loyalty be damned, each and every time your party’s agenda strays from the best interests of our nation and its people. The American people will be forever grateful. This is no time for shrinking violets in Washington, D.C. We desperately need principled and courageous action from our federal legislators, starting yesterday.
