get Arthur C.Clark to weigh in ……opening line in 2001, a space oddesey–”At 12:00 every phone on earth rang”—wriltten in the late 1960’s. Clark is still alive and might e-mail from hls home in Sri Lanka. I think he has written “as long as I can spell Alzheimers I’m OK” I believe his spelling is still excellent. A one to one communication to the politicos would carry much weight.

I like this idea. Can’t we recruit some heavies (non political types) to allow their names to be used on these messages? I nominate Harper Lee (author of TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD) who just received the Medal of Honor from Chimpy.

But if their bipartisan criticism of Yahoo’s behavior – cooperating with a Chinese government “subpoena-like document” to supply information about journalist accused of the “illegal provision of state secrets” – sounds disingenuous, it should. After all, those are trademark tactics of the Bush administration and its Republican amen corner in the aftermath of 9/11.

Graphics may be the way to go – a picture is worth a thousand words, and probably the bulk of emails or faxes before this have been words only. A graphic might get their attention and signify that a large group of people (Firedogs!) coalesce around this effort.

Also, let me suggest a head: “Just say no”
to retroactive immunity.
