This one is on my list...
TBogg and Kevin Drum are making a list of the worst blog posts of all time. Personally, I think the one that LG&M dug up -- and no, that title is not a joke -- absolutely makes the list. But then, perhaps I've somehow missed something even more odious lurking out there in the blog weeds.
So, I'm opening the floor for nominations. Which blog posts make your "worst of all time" list? What's the most odious composition in blogtopia? (Yes, Skippy coined that term.) And, while we're at it, I thought we could share a few really bad song moments as well. Click the YouTube above for one of the songs that makes me turn my radio off.
Happy Friday everyone...
PS -- Thanks so much to everyone who nominated us as "Best Liberal Blog" for the Weblog Awards. It's an honor to be among all the great blogs listed. Much appreciated!

Christy!
Happy Friday. We all need it!
I try to avoid site that might provide the manure to answer the question. I am allergic to brain bleach so I let TRex do the primary research.
Thanks for that link. I just voted. FDL is now 41. I didn’t even know this was going on…
Good afternoon, Christy - the good news this afternoon is that early next week, we will probably miss the hurricane, BUT, Accuweather is predicting probable Lake Effect Snow. Surface temps in Lake Ontario are, in places, up to 58 degrees F.
Lake Effect Snow indeed.
I wager you’ll find that at chez Michelle Malkin…
Well, its not a blog post, but it made it into many:
“The British government has learned that Saddam Hussein recently sought significant quantities of uranium from Africa.”
OT..No more Bush “Red States” Utah finally went gray.

Biodun at 4 — I didn’t either, until I got a congrats on being a finalist e-mail from a friend of mine. *g*
Any thing to do with Doughy Pantload automatically
should A**rocket to the top of that list.
BTW, any regular lurkers are invited to go vote for the Best Liberal Blog on the planet.
(cough, cough)
Worst of all time for me is anything Atlas Shruggs has to say. Blergh!
My nominee would have to be Malkin’s ridiculous video in the cheerleading outfit.
*shudders*
EPU’d and tangential. Love the music Christy!
I’ve been wondering for a while if any of the legal problems Qwest has had were related to their refusal to play ball with the NSA when I came across this.
Nacchio says feds punished Qwest
So we want to give amnesty to those who break the law and punish those who uphold it.
Yes, indeed, this is the values administration isn’t it?
Biodun @ 4
FDL is now 58. It appears we can vote every 24 hours - ;~)
newspaperbrat @ 14
I just voted also. Go FDL!!
CHS @ 9:
Funny. Sorta like when Doris Lessing got the news of her winning the Nobel Prize in Literature in front of her house that morning…*g*
newspaperbrat @ 14
I went and added my vote:-)
So, no song nominations for the “blergh” list? Geez, I would have thought you guys could have come up with a bunch!
Count my vote cast for the best blog evah!
Christy Hardin Smith @ 18
“Afternoon Delight” by Starland Vocal Band.
I just threw up in my mouth a little bit just thinking about it…
Thunderbird at 20 — That song is such an earworm, isn’t it? Really gets stuck in your brain and won’t come out…
Christy Hardin Smith @ 18
“Stairway to Heaven” or “Freebird” makes me turn my radio off. YUK!
I can see the LGF crowd has voted early and often.
Biodun @ 4
Now at 62!
And don’t get me started on the Pina Colada song. Worst Ever!
Bad song - Bad Blog
Christy Hardin Smith @ 18
Anything by Celine Dion?
Last Christmas we had a compilation CD of classic Christmas Song. One song on it was kind of cute at first, but the kids loved it so much that I began to absolutely hate it. I think it’s an old Spike Jones song (but I can’t be sure) called “I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas.”
Like I said, it was kind of cute at first, but now that’s my nomination for bad song.
Way OT..But Al Wynn must be really feeling the heat..He is a co-sponsor of the Impeach Cheney Resolution that comes to the House Floor Nov 6. BTW, nine of the 21 sponsors are women.
Thunderbird @ 20
I’m dating myself but “Green Tambourine” by Strawberry Alarmclock. Late 60s.
Worst Song: “Billy Don’t Be a Hero” by Bo Donaldson & the Heywoods (and around the same time as Paper Lace too, if memory serves). Ah, the 70s!
Steve-AR @ 8
That’s a beautiful map! Blue America…
Indy at 30 — Oh my. I hadn’t thought about the Billy Don’t Be A Hero song in ages. That one is pretty bad. LOL
Actually I think anything off the Foreigner 4 album would qualify, but “I’ve Been Waiting For A Girl Like You” has to be on that list somewhere.
And while we’re at it, “We Built This City,” and pretty much anything by the group after they dropped “Jefferson” from their name.
Christy Hardin Smith @ 9
I posted the news on FB, does that make me a blog tart?
Christy Hardin Smith @ 18
Sugar, Sugar.
When I voted, FDL was behind Greenwald. Now it’s surged past GG and catching up to TPM (70-90). Christy’s link is working wonders. Plus with polls closing on Nov 8, it helps to know we can vote every 24 hours…*g* (Hint hint!)
A Horse With No Name.
This has to have the worst line in any song ever: “The heat was hot..”
New thread from Tula:
Missing In Action On Mine Safety: Sen. Mitch McConnell
Toby Wollin @ 37
Well if we’re going down that road, you have to give mention to Alannis Morrisette who wrote an entire song about her erroneous understanding of what the word “ironic” means. And I don’t really have anything against her music, but that always bothered me.
The nominee from my generation would have to be virtually anything by Creed or Godsmack. Just yargh!
Now at 79, but still behind Greenwald.
FDL is now #2 behind TPM. GO FDL!
(BTW, I also just decided it has been too long since I hit the Paypal button at the top of the page. Another type of voting we can all do.)
You mean there are radio stations that still play this dreck?
I think “Billy Don’t be a Hero” was also Paper Lace… I have no idea why I know that. Must be some grade school trivium leftovers…
Horrible song? How about the Puff P. Diddy Daddy Sean Combs version of Led Zeppelin’s “Kashmir” from a few years back?
Completely un-listenable.
P J Evans @ 41
That might be an optical illusion because Glenn’s blog name is so long. I see tpm 109; fdl 83; Glenn 60
From the last thread, a link to an article on the government’s master watchlist can be found here:

and the GAO report it is based on can be found here:

Christy,
Thanks for the musical throwback. I remember Paper Lace from my K-Tell albums. I did like this song when I was 7.
Baby Baby Don’t Get Hooked On Me: Mac Davis.

“You’re a hot-blooded woman-child. And it’s warm where you’re touchin’ me.”
Genius.
Hopefully, nothing from my blog would make it into the “worst blog post” list…
In the meantime, someone’s already mentioned her upthread, but the Celine Dion version of “At Last” makes me want to jam icepicks into my ears. There is One. Version. Of. That. Song. It belongs to Etta James. Nobody else should ever be permitted to even purchase the sheet music, let alone sing it.

p.s. Can you tell I’m a little, well, passionate about this?
That song’s right up there with My Boy Lollipop.

Theme from the Poseiden Adventure
Worst. Song. Evah.
Midnight at the Oasis -
send that camel to bed…..
The blog “JustOneMinute” has my vote for their
Libby analysis.
Oh, and when i was a kid, a DJ rented an apartment in our house. The song he most loathed was a thing called Jam up in Jelly Tights.
Schumer’s phone still busy, by the way.
Yes, Leahy will vote NO NO.
Butterfly Kisses, by I don’t remember whom (probably self-protective amnesia); anything caterwauled by Celine Dion very close second.
Christy Hardin Smith @ 18
It’s A Small World
>:->
Steve-AR @ 8
Wow - I’d never have believed it. My otherwise-beloved home state is way ahead of the curve on rightie-crazy and way behind on catching a clue. Which still seems to be true, but I never thought it’d go so far as 50-50 approval for a Republican president.
Steve-AR @ 8
Do you know where the map comes from? Imageshack doesn’t help me ;-) I’d be interested in reading any accompanying material on this…
peanutbutter @ 58
Noooooooo now you’ve done it :)
Achey Breaky Heart.
There, I’ve said it.
Bustednuckles @ 62
You may be the winner
Bon Jovi sings R2D2 We Wish You a Merry Christmas
I find most everything at Granite Grok repulsive. One of the bloggers there considers John Bolten the smartest man ever. Ooooh yuck.
for example:
I thought of another one, familiar to those who’ve spent a lost evening at Bad Karaoke: Bon Jovi’s “Wanted Dead or Alive”.
I’m thinking, however, that Christy’s suggestion of “It’s A Small World” is the mother of all earworms and therefore, The Worst.
-S
The piece so eminently forgettable - I’ve forgotten but it was by the creeps who brought you “YMCA” and it had to do with being ‘murican. Sorry I can’t do better than that.
Anything by Pammy Schmatlas.
I read somewhere today that Red State has banned Ron Paul supporters. Munch munch
Biodun @ 4
Can someone please post the link again? I voted awhile ago and forgot to bookmark it so I could vote again tomorrow. GO FDL!!
*Anything* by Huey Lewis. Uber sh*tty generic rock.
The Heart of Rock and Roll? …uh. no.
We Built this City (as previously mentioned) is another atrocity.
As far as recent political stinkers: A retort to 88% of the diplomats union thinking that Condoleeza Rice isn’t fighting for them.
“Eight-eight per cent of the country believed in slavery at one time – was that correct?” Harry Thomas
WTF does that have to do with this ? Seriously. WHAT. THE. F*CK ?
It is like these guys have been given “Strawman’s Brainless Field Guide to Specious Arguments”

OOPS. Sorry, it’s at the end of Christy’s post. Got it. Thanks, eg.
I nominate the Powerline post by Hindrocket, in which he rhapsodizes about how strange it must be to be George Bush, because he’s such a genius and nobody realizes it.
Thunderbird @ 12
Yep. That’s my nomination too.
Toby Wollin @ 37
HAHAHAHA….ohh,man…AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
You hate the Night Chicgo Died? Who pissed in your Cherios? Maybe you just never heard it sung enthousiastically off tune by a 4th grade music class (we were allowed to sing ONE song at the end of each weekly class). That was our 3rd favorite song after Band on the Run and We had Joy We Had Fun We Had Seasons in the Sun (and the Coke song during Xmas). I had to laugh out loud when I heard this one. This one they NEVER play on our oldies station.
I can’t believe no one’s mentioned MacArthur Park. Oh nooooooo…
maralenenok @ 77
Obviously, you’ve never experienced the heartbreak of rain soaked cake.
I Believe I Can Fly - Arrrhh Kelly
Just voted for FDL…yay!
And have you heard Barbra’s Christmas Album?
What ? Nobody bring up The Ballad of the Green Berets by Staff Sgt Barry (OK, NOW I’m blanking).
