Nancy grew up a political brat in Baltimore and is obviously suffering from invincible arrogance right up there with DiFi and Bar Boxer. Feisty but not particularly bright, IMHO.

There was an odd clip on Hardball today of Pelosi saying that if someone called her in a poll on the phone and asked how the Congress was doing she would answer that they hadn’t done much.

It reminded me of Condi’s recent statement about how she would have insisted on greater oversight of private security contractors in Iraq as if she wasn’t precisely the one who could have and should have insisted on it.

Pelosi is the one who can control what comes up in the House and how it is dealt with. She has used this power to facilitate the Republicans and the White House on Iraq and FISA. And of course, she has taken impeachment off the table which in her case has meant taking impeachment investigations off the table as well.

No one is saying that she and the Democrats can win these fights but there is every reason to fight them. She hasn’t tried to. Instead as the post above says, she would rather help obstructionist Democrats win re-election so that they can vote with the Republicans.

Cindy is not running in the primary. She is running in the general election as an independent. In a district that voted 70-30 one year ago to direct our congressional representatives to impeach Bush and Cheney.

Pelosi is seriously out of step with her constituency. Whether Sheehan is the person to tap into that dissatisfaction remains to be seen.

I found a long video (16 mins) from google from a 2006 debate Sponsored by NAACP- Edwards v. Wynn. I just ripped it and made into a file I can edit.

What is totally striking about that video is Steny Hoyer’s responses (he is at long table in front). I watched his body language through the video. He gave only a polite golf clap to Donna at one point. Otherwise, he was totally on board for Wynn, including applauding Wynn’s final statement, and leaning back in disgust at Donna’s final statement.

Short story: I just isn’t Pelosi.

yeah, i saw that. but she needs a big media outlet that will agree to air her interview unedited.

fingers crossed, but i’m not confident.

and it really pisses me off that she can’t be doing this with waxman (either via a hearing or an interview with oversight committee staff) – because they could give her limited immunity (so she couldn’t be charged with a crime for speaking).

as it is, she is risking a great deal – unnecessarily if waxman would do his job.

There was an odd clip on Hardball today of Pelosi saying that if someone called her in a poll on the phone and asked how the Congress was doing she would answer that they hadn’t done much.

It reminded me of Condi’s recent statement about how she would have insisted on greater oversight of private security contractors in Iraq as if she wasn’t precisely the one who could have and should have insisted on it.

Pelosi is the one who can control what comes up in the House and how it is dealt with. She has used this power to facilitate the Republicans and the White House on Iraq and FISA. And of course, she has taken impeachment off the table which in her case has meant taking impeachment investigations off the table as well.

No one is saying that she and the Democrats can win these fights but there is every reason to fight them. She hasn’t tried to. Instead as the post above says, she would rather help obstructionist Democrats win re-election so that they can vote with the Republicans.

I believe in the tooth fairy. But, it would be entirely possible to impeach Bush et al within one month if the dems decided to do it. Better yet, if they decided not to do it, criminal charges could be sought after the elections. GeorgeCo has got to be scared shitless. They know that they are criminals in every sense of the word, and for the worst crimes possible.

Wynn voted against net neutrality and so I’ll be contributing to Donna Edwards a second time. I live in Maryland but I don’t live in his district, so my correspondence has been completely unacknowledged by his office. So I guess to him, I simply don’t exist.

I’m hoping my dollars will make more of an impression than my words. Maybe some of our more wealthy netizens could steal a page for public radio and offer a dollar-for-dollar match for Donna Edwards’ campaign during Congressperp (to coin a term) Wynn’s next fundraiser.

You bet I will give money to the democrats who will actually act like democrats but I would like to know who it is that represents us, the labor force of America.

Who is going to restructure our trade policies so that they protect American labor, it certainly wasn’t a favor that bill clinton did with nafta and cafta and all the other alphabet soup bs. The left is no longer the left but mainly right of center and that is not good enough for me or anybody else who actually works for a living.

I am sixty five turning sixty six on saturday and
I will be working til I die, my SS is not enough and medicare covers some but not all of my medical expenses, and I am already in collection for two nice sized bills. Not looking for sympathy or anything else just giving an example of our phoque up system.

My point would be to ask all of you who it is that addresses these issues which should be right at the top of any Democratic party platform because they are the only ones that I would give money to.

Based on my experience with the leadership of that most democratic of organizations, a labor union, I am of the opinion Bush Dogs serve the Speaker’s purpose. She can hide behind them. She, like my union, loved a good excuse to do nothing for the membership (but they were a shark collecting dues!)

And of course she protects incumbents – she is one!

The irony boggles my mind when I consider what that old Robber Baron, Vanderbilt, had to say:

“The public be damned!”

That’s pretty much what the Speaker means.

Dennis Kucinich will not be allowed by the party to win the Presidency. However, if we push for House Rule IX to be used to unseat Pelosi, and make Kucinich Speaker, we can impeach and indict, then Kucinich will be able to push for the reforms we want as interim President. Then either run him as the incumbant in the ground swell of popularity, or sign him on with Edwards or Obama as VP.

Neither California nor Nevada allow Congressional Representatives or Senators to be recalled. Where did you get your information?

Recall in both States are for State officers, not Federal positions. In fact it’s Unconstitutional to recall Federal elected officers. There is no provision for recall within the Constitution. A member of Congress can only be removed from that office by a vote of their peers expelling them.

Today in America politics is all about money. Until that changes it’s time for progressives to pony up and put their money where their mouths are. Donate 10 or 20 bucks to help Donna Edwards defeat a lazy corrupt Bushdog Democrat. 25,000 progressives giving 20 bucks =’s $500,000. Money can affect more meaningful change than all the bitching in the world.
