Timmeh and Brian Williams moderating.
Hillary having a hard time shaking off political cooties of Kyl-Lieberman.
Why doesn’t Timmeh just ask if she murdered Vince Foster? Is the NRO writing these questions?
OTOH, Edwards doing a very good job calling bullshit.
Obama says he’s going to end the bickering between parties. Which will easily be accomplished, I suppose, when the wingnuts crush him like a bug.

Jane!!!!!!!!!!!
?!
Alright!
nellie
Heh. The circle of death tipped us off again…
FunnyD
hiya Jane!
They need to get Hillary to shut up a little.
Obama said that? …. really? Does he think HoJo is his magic elixir? WTF!!!
Richardson running for Secretary of State
that debate clock is unbelievable, it’s payola I tell ya!
Not hard enough for me.
Damn, agreeing with Hillary. Timmeh, it’s somebody else’s turn, you get it?
Jane Hamsher @ 9
yup.
Maybe it’s old fashioned “ladies first”.
Will NBC/MSNBC do the same thing with Rudy? Give him all the time? This is crazy.
Jane Hamsher @ 9
An appropriate place for him…
Punkin asks Hillary why she changed her mind on the cap on social security and accuses her of having a public position and private position.
She does not want to balance ss on the backs of middle class and elderly. Bush wanted to decimate Clinton’s surplus to privatize social security. GOOD FOR HER!!
Jane Hamsher @ 9
Kind of hard to have a diplomat who struggles so hard to put together a coherent sentence.
Good Evening, everyone. I think it’s a good debate. I’m still leaning Edwards.
Obama says he’s going to end the bickering between parties. Which will easily be accomplished, I suppose, when the wingnuts crush him like a bug.
hahahahahahahaha
I’m watching debate with Amato. I should acknowledge that the Vince Foster line is his.
Obama pedaling around in circles on social security.
((((Jane))))
SnarKassandra @ 14
Hey Cassie, got any big plans for the big day? Other than the learner’s permit thingy.
A real hoot that the moderators have more time than half the candidates.
Even though it’s been Obama and Clinton in the news, the last three days seem to showing effect (affect?)
Some shifts perhaps?
Jane Hamsher @ 9
That makes sense.
Happy impending b-day SnarKassie!
Jane Hamsher @ 21
You in LA or Amato in Deecee?
I find Obama lacking.
OT: Not sure if this has been talked about much, but they’re reviving the effort to change how California’s electors are counted. This time they’re getting much bigger money behind it.
Let’s shut ‘em down once again!
Obama sounds like a preacher. In a bad way.
Jane Hamsher @ 9
Biden already has that sewn up.
sadly yes @ 20
Did he actually use the work ‘bickering’? I missed that. It’s not bickering; it’s a fight to the death. Just shows how out-of-touch Obama is.
Loo Hoo. @ 31
yep.
Oklahoma kiddo @ 29
Ah – the art of understatement. :)
ReneND @ 19
me too
Obama makes my eyes roll back in my head. Gives me a drowsy feeling.
Hello John!
Jane and I are watching the debate together…Oh man…I thought Timmeh was going ask her about Sandy Berger and those pesky documents…
This is true. We tried at least one Nazi for having his unit fight in US Army uniforms, and he was acquitted when he demonstrated that the US had done so also.
So do any of you think they might dare ask questions about the Constitution? the Rule of Law?
madmommy @ 24
Cake for dinner!!
And hopefully listening to a new ipod for hours and hours.
And maybe installing new memory in the computer so it will work faster. Or putting bling on my cell phone. Or installing a bluetooth earset for my phone.
Family dinner Thursday night. Going out with friends most of saturday.
WeRevDeb @ 28
We’re in LA!
Blue Mesa- you still reading?
I clicked on the msnbc link you gave in the last thread, and indeedy, there was a click icon to “watch the debate”, but when I did that, all I got was commercial garbage.
Maybe a browser problem on my part? Or, do you have a more detailed link I can try?
Where’s Gravel?
SSSSSSOOOOOOOO tired of the Osama/Obama nonsense. Time to move on.
Obama is some contrast. Great in person in a small group setting, but debate is not his arena. He is just awful at it.
Oklahoma kiddo @ 29
Obama was helped along considerable in Illinois politics by Rahm E. And after the anti gay bull garbage I hope he is circling the toilet.
Punkin asks Obama if he’s pissed off at Romney for calling him Osama.
Obama says NO!! Shit, I’m pissed about it, how can Obama not be?
Elliott @ 10
No — or at least not directly. It’s about ratings. And thus, about advertising dollars.
For all the protestations to the contrary that would be voiced by Russert and Williams, the voices of the entertainment division and the advertising sales division are at least as critical as the voice of the news division in staging these debates.
Yes, there are no ads running now, but there will be when they run all the clips during all the shows tomorrow. If they can get some good sparks tonight, that means more eyeballs tomorrow, and that means more bucks on the day after tomorrow.
And Kucinich tearing into Biden is not going to make that happen.
Why don’t any candidates challenge HRC on what “fiscal responsibility” means beyond just being a slogan?
newtonusr @ 47
that works for me. The worser the better.
newtonusr @ 47
I can’t see him now but he’s shrunk, in my eyes, from the first debate on down.
Obama good on himself & how he’s getting mischaracterized by Rs.
John Amato @ 43
Where’s Howie?
Timmeh is such a tool
OldCoastie @ 37
MEGO — My Eyes Glaze Over
Loo Hoo. @ 49
Cause sometimes he forgets and calls himself Osama.
So I’ve been trying to send a fax to Specter for the past half hour. I get either busy signal or no answer. Any clues to help me?
John Amato @ 43
You’re welcome to come to the get-together on Saturday. We might scream like when the Beatles came on stage!
What’s that clothing line…DKNY?
Thinking about Dennis, here’s something I’d like to try on…DKDC.
BlueMesa @ 51
all her claims to experience, sound like sound bites…tell me one good idea she has put forth
Senator Clinton mentions fiscal responsibility and a desire to get back to that. Well… lets see. How do you fight a war (or two) without raising taxes?
Valley Girl @ 44
Did you try clicking on the picture that says “DEMS FACE OFF”? That’s what I did and it opened up the debate in a new window. The window just has a picture of Russert and the other guy right now because they’re on break.
Valley Girl @ 55
Howies out causing trouble I bet…
Loo Hoo. @ 31
Glad you added that second sentence. *g*
BlueMesa @ 64
what browser are you using?
marymccurnin @ 58
RevDeb @ 59
Maybe he blocked your number!
Valley Girl @ 67
Since it’s Microsoft I’m using Internet Explorer, I figure it probly won’t work with anything else.
While we’re on break I just want to thank FDL for letting us all shoot off our mouths live :)
BlueMesa @ 70
Try Firefox.
We might scream like when the Beatles came on stage!
She’s kidding.
We’d be perfectly behaved little angels. Ha.
BlueMesa @ 71
Eli stepped aside graciously, folks.
Thanks dude!
John Amato @ 65
And I’ll bet the sun rises in the east tomorrow, too.
sadly yes @ 56
I’m still chuckling from the comment the other night that Timmeh should make himself useful and go throw his head at Ichabod Crane.
because Exxon needs more profits
Biden is having a good night.
How to fund Social Security:
The employer pays 5 percent on 100 percent of all compensation, whether salary, stock options, whatever.
The worker pays 5 percent on all compensation after the first 15,000 dollars.
Oklahoma kiddo @ 63
Fiscal responsibility is Clinton code for raising taxes on the rich. It’s exactly what her husband did and what any D prez would do. Edwards is the only one who said it in plain English.
BlueMesa @ 70
They finally got around to setting things up so that other browsers can work at MSNBC in the last few months. Or at least so that Safari would work for those of us in Mac land
Edwards is right about sacrifice.
madmommy @ 76
Wasn’t that Peterr? ;-)
demi @ 73
Riiight.
OldCoastie @ 78
absolutely
I like Dodd, but to me, Edwards is still the only one who truly represents a threat to the system.
{{{Eli}}}
sadly yes @ 85
Not being a front runner has its benefits.
CTuttle @ 84
Can’t remember. I was thinking either Dr. Dick or EDP.
OldCoastie @ 78
Yes indeedy.
Kucinich makes a good point about the Iraq fiasco being about oil.
Kucinich: Use IMPEACHMENT to get control of energy policy!
marymccurnin @ 87
Look at Dennis’ superlative performance!
Hillary says we might need to use strategic energy reserves, which Bush has built up.
Kucinich says IMPEACHMENT!
If all else fails, maybe we should try to:
Laugh Bush out of the White House
Since Mr. Bush has become quite testy in recent days, and since he does not really seem to be enjoying himself much in the White House, he probably just needs a little encouragement to leave the premises permanently.
So if we each take just fifteen seconds every Saturday to laugh Bush out of the White House, it may be the beginning of the end for his miserable regime.
If you’re not up to fifteen long seconds of laughter in public, make a little sign that says “Laugh Bush out of the White House” (LBOOTWH) LBOOTWH and put it on your lapel. Put a sign in your car’s side window (if it’s behind the driver, it won’t obstruct vision) or put one in a front window or your house or apartment. Or make and print out a bumper strip on your computer. Or send Emails to young and old, Ha, ha, ha, Laugh Bush out of the White House, ha, ha, ha. This is a great opportunity to practice different kinds of laughs. Low bassy laughs or high snickers, your choice. Divisive laughs. Derisive laughs. Sneers. Remember, “Practice makes Perfect.” Many of us have not had much to laugh about in the 21st century; so, maybe, this will be our chance to laugh to take back America.
Eventually, even the extremely dense Mr. Bush may finally get the message and head south to the vast pampas of Paraguay. There is a lot of brush that needs cutting, down there, Sir. Those Paraguayan pampas grasses are very overgrown and could use some serious trimming, Sir.
Please feel free to copy and spread this message across America: from Sea to shining Sea. Let America return to being Beautiful again.
So what D faux pas from tonight will headline the MSM tomorrow?
when you hear the pukes speaking at these venues,it is wall to wall lies
Richardson: we need an “energy revolution”, and “An Apollo program for renewable energy.”

Instead of glaring at Obama while he’s speaking, Hillary should do what Edwards does…listen and take notes.
Just my perception.
RonD @ 97
Imagine where we’d be today if the initiative had been taken up in the Carter administration. Sigh.
RonD @ 97
Oh God, he’s been reading Friedman (even if I agree on this point).
Hello, from Freer, TX, loaded with another massive gas pump used to supply an addicted nation. Listen to ‘em talk about energy. Clueless.
I like Dodd’s H/T to Gore.
james k. sayre @ 94
Dick would move in and the joke would be on us.
Wow Richardson is looking awful, no clear message, just laundry lists of talking points.
madmommy, you’re so right.
Sigh.
Note to Brian Williams, where is Whoville?
BlueMesa @ 105
That’s the way he’s been in every debate.
I only meant that she should know that. Someone on her crew should tell her.
Me? It’s okay if she continues her shrewness.
Edwards says we didn’t need a surge in Baghdad, we needed a surge in New Orleans.
Edwards didn’t understand the Q about people who live in environmentally dangerous places. He was talking about CA, not NOLA.
Edwards, “we don’t need a surge in Baghdad, we need a surge in New Orleans.”
good one…
Oilfieldguy @ 102
Where is Freer?
Can you get to Georgetown for the weekend and go camping with firepups???
‘Surge in NOLA’ Go, Edwards…
RevDeb @ 59
not that i could print. some if you live in PA or DC and own a flashlight. ;->
Edwards: we didn’t need a surge in Baghdad-we needed a surge in NEW ORLEANS!
NOLA!!!!
Loo Hoo. @ 110
But we had a very well staged presser. Bush had his sleeves rolled up and everything!
madmommy @ 88
Not me. I’ve been off the toobz for a couple of days.
That was a great answer John.
eCAHNomics @ 111
It applies everywhere.
Floodplains, hurricane zones, canyons, drought areas, by rivers that can overflow, tornado alley, etc.
OldCoastie @ 112
He needs a surge in the polls, unfortunately.
He was quite a surprise in Iwoa in 04 though…
sadly yes @ 117
New Orleans, the place were my heart lives.
BlueMesa @ 89
Kucinich is a prince and whoesoever is the nominee I hope & trust he will be honored and acknowledged for his contribution to our body politic. In a perfect world his concept of a Department of Peace will be realized in his lifetime.
Shorter Timmeh, Bush cost-shifted taxes to middle-class and grndchilderen. Will you fix that?
Hillary talking about young people dying and being maimed in war yet she refuses to say she regrets voting to let that happen.
Janus.
AnnieW @ 121
Agree. Just mentioned the CA example because of recent fires.
back to homework. see y’all in costume tomorrow.
SnarKassandra @ 128
Hmmm… Whatcha gonna wear?
Hillary says the alternative minimum tax is now hitting the middle class and agrees with Charlie Rangle that this needs to be fixed. It won’t happen during the Bush admin.
She will not campaign on the Rangle plan.
Something about a 7 million dollar cap???
‘night, Snarkita.
SnarKassandra @ 113
Between Corpus Christi and Laredo. Will see about Georgetown. I may be digging a drilling rig out of the belly of a slow moving boat from China at the Houston docks, loading it out and carrying it to OKC.
I think getting some “journalists” with brains in their heads is as important as campaign finance reform when it comes to restoring democracy to the USA.
G’night Cassie.
Sleep well. Tomorrow’s a BIG day for you.
madmommy @ 118
Even Brownie rolled up his sleeves after he was told to.
LindaR @ 133
Second that.
Loo Hoo. @ 130
Is it that high a cap?
i’d love to see a debate that amy goodman designed and moderated.
I am uneasy with the professed unfamiliarity that Clinton and Obama have with the Rangel tax plan.
We’re not going to hear one word about illegal surveillance, secret police, real ID, are we?
and how many millions do you make Timmeh …ya big whore?
I’m kinda missing a Huckabee speech, don’t you?
I’m too sensitive on this issue…I live adjacent to the Cleveland National Forest and I get upset about people thinking that the fires are normal and something that could/should have been planned/zoned for. (I’m talking to you DiFi!)
I think the NOLA example applies here in the same sort of thinking.
selise @ 138
yep
selise @ 138
YESSS!!!
What a terrible answer from Obama. I’m sure he means well but it’s just completely confusing. Something about we need to deal with the postal system in the Cayman Islands to help single moms? Whaaa???
Loo Hoo. @ 135
Hey Loo Hoo-to answer your question from last night I am in the NOLA metro area, north of Lake Ponchartrain. And the little guy loves the bus.
RonD @ 140
So far no whiff of FISA or other civil liberty issues…
I like Kucinich’s hammering on impeachment.
CTuttle @ 137
Said couples earing 7 million should be paying AMT.
John Amato @ 142
the difference in the collective intellects of the 2 parties is staggering
This debate was a disgrace to the party and to MSNBC – 8 men versus one woman, and she was the de facto topic of the debate! It just looks terrible, folks. No way around it. And some of our guys made nice use of the talking points….and created a couple more.
Edwards hitting on “mercenaries”.
Edwards is still looking good. I am somewhat disappointed in Dodd.
John Amato @ 142
Huckleberry Hound?
Edwards ROLLING!
sadly yes @ 151
Combined the repigs might be able to pass one of the state standardized tests to comply with NCLB. maybe.
Edwards. He is very impressive.
RonD @ 156
I’m starting to think:
Edwards/Dodd ‘08
RonD @ 156
he is just good on his feet
impressive
madmommy @ 147
He’s a big boy now!
Poor Gov. Richardson.
RevDeb @ 157
Only with the answers written on the backs of their hands.
LindaR @ 159
check me out upthread…lol
Bumpersticker round.
Oilfieldguy @ 158
The best of the front tier, however, I do like Dennis…!
Talk faster dammit!
Oilfieldguy @ 165
LOL!!
This 30 second thing is ridiculous.
madmommy @ 163
but they’d have to remember not to wash their hands in the bathroom . . . . not a problem, never mind.
sadly yes — my bad!
you good!
Obama: If we’re going to teach math and science, we need to have jobs in math and science.
LindaR @ 171
i just love your choices!
Lahoma tells me she has winner based upon what she has heard thus far.
My thirty second spot on schools.
Make every one of them palaces.
I yield back the balance of my time.
demi @ 99
She seems to have been schooled solidly to appear tough, savvy and ready to lead. Sometimes translates to me as making her look overly aggressive (gender-neutral, folks, honest), and/or strident. Example of how campaigns are vastly different from true leadership role. All we can do is try to look at, rate, and compare as best we can on all the relative background info.
My reaction so far tonight, fwiw: they ALL look good, compared to any & all of the repubbles.
We need to fill out our scorecards with other evidence of leadership qualities, compassion, understanding, honest commitment to making improvements for those in this country & around the world, willingness and ability to tackle issues we care about, willingness and ability to work with Congress as a proper Prez. should etc. etc. Yeah. Near impossible. But we need to think about things we can’t see, as well as those that pop out during debates and on the campaign trail.
We need to do our homework. And then we need to help if and as we can to spread what we’ve learned. Most voters don’t take the time, but that doesn’t mean they won’t listen to someone who knows what they’re talking about, and can provide evidence.
{{{{{Jane}}}}} Thank you for this blog. Thank you for all that you do.
RonD @ 172
And if we’re going to have gay people we ought to cure gay people.

Biden …is on his game
Oklahoma kiddo @ 174
Edwards?
Dodd- education is the answer to every other problem. We need to make this a priority and a way for students to go to college.
President Bush wants to know, “Is are chirrens larnin?”
Millineryman @ 177
Did you see Aravosis’ new line of t-shirts? (I know I posted this on a couple of other threads, but they really are funny)

Will the gentleman yield for a friendly amendment?
“. . .and treat the teachers like royalty.”
Oklahoma kiddo @ 174
Did she tell you that it’s no longer the “Beat the crap out of Hillary” debate?
Howdy ma’am.
Oilfieldguy @ 181
what a sick joke on this country and how the media covered up for him…
RevDeb, loved them shirts. Thanks for re-posting them, since this is the first time I have seen them.
Break! Blue Mesa and dakine- thanks.
I finally got the debate by using Internet Explorer.
I’m on a PC, but I normally use FireFox. Guess msnbc doesn’t like FF.
comcast has an msnbc blackout and metro atlanta cannot watch the debate, or matthews, or olberman….
I wish Obama would have waited a few years before running. With some seasoning, he might have been a contender. I know he has a bunch of money, but IMO, he’s fading. And as for enabling anti-gay bigotry, well, he should have known better, even if he IS a bigot.
I say kidz should be in school 12 hours a day with no summer break!
newtonusr @ 185
More like the Hillary lovefest if you ask me. This is nothing like the bareknuckle Democratic contests of the past.
So far I think Biden, Edwards, and Kucinich have done the best.
RevDeb @ 182
Yes I did, they are great. I hope some people buy them and show up at Obama’s event in SF that he had posted also.
RonD @ 190
Agree. A term in the Illinois State House would do nicely.
This is just stupid.
LindaR @ 171
Forgive me for repeating myself but with an R governor in CT to appoint a replacement for Dodd, please let him stay in the Senate unless he is the nominee and elected.
I like Biden saying reign in the insurance companies.
John Amato @ 191
Amato is a krumudgeon .
Oilfieldguy @ 195
Stupid is as stupi…………I forget.
dakine01 @ 196
agreed…there is plenty of talent to tap
Edwards answer is great!
How many freaking’ times can Hillary say “Bi-partisan”? Screw thaaaaaaat. She’s up just flopping all over the place!!! “4 more years!yay” Feh! Her “35 years of experience” as whaaaaat?!?!?!?! Didn’t happen.
Dodd, good…. Edwards Goooooood…. Obama goood….. KUCH home run on impeachment. Richardson is MY administration’s negotiator/education chief :D
IIRC, didn’t Lieberworm run for VP while staying in the Senate AND running for re-election at the same time?
Obama waffled.
marymccurnin @ 199
The memory is the second thing to go…I can’t remember what the first thing is.
RonD @ 203
Yes, but I’d prefer Dodd just stay in the Senate unless he’s top dog.
Oh, for crissakes, they’re showing the countdown on the lightening round clock like this is a game show.
Grow up.
Hard to group thoughts in the bumpersticker round.
Answer to airline Q is infrastructure starting with high speed trains, but including expanding airports.
I actually like the lightening rounds.
How would you bring about world peace. Please limit your response to thirty seconds.
Didn’t Punkin ask last time about their favorite bible verse?
What’s it gonna be this time…who’s your favorite Saint and why? As Democrats, why do you hate our troops, puppies, and America with every fiber of your being?
What’ll it be Timmeh?
Oilfieldguy @ 208
It’d be nice to hear someone say “This question deserves more than 30 seconds. It would have been nice if you’d asked it earlier.”
fun word of the night, from Hill.:
“beaurocratization”
(just rolled off her tongue. piece-a-cake.)
egad! get chimpy to say that 10 times lickitysplit, heh.
oops. Dodd not so good on drivers’ licenses.
Oilfieldguy @ 210
prozac
Uh-oh, Dodd goofed…
Oklahoma kiddo @ 197
That was Hillary’s focus in the 90’s. the insurance companies took her plans down.
Her Kyl/Lieberman vote could take her down now.
Oklahoma kiddo @ 197
eek! “rein” ?
Dodd and Clinton mixing it up on Spitzer’s immigrant-license plan.
RevDeb @ 215
Yep. He got smoked for it, too.
so much for the lightning round. Timmeh would rather gotcha than stand by his own rules.
I have to tip my hat to HRC for realism.
In case you are totally frustrated with everything this might make you smile, and if you do I have done my job for the day.
http://www.fasthumor.com/images/FUCK.swf
Edwards going after Clinton about her “doubletalk” on immigration. Obama piling on.
Oilfieldguy @ 222
Agree.
Oilfieldguy @ 205
whew. that’s a blessing. ;->
Heh, Obama playing Senator straddle after accusing Hillary of doing the same.
sadly yes @ 164

Adie @ 219
If a king stays out in a storm, gets pneumonia, and dies, then we can fairly say that rain reined in his reign.
F*cking Timmeh, That is B*llshit question…!
Adie @ 219
“rein” is correct.
So they are doing as many gotchas as they can but they are leaving Obama alone on his bigoted anti-gay preacher buddy shilling for him.
Nothing to see here . . . move along . . .
Good evening dear friends. Glad to see you all.
This is way not fair. Hillary is expected to debate the other candidates as well as taking slams from Timmeh. He’s looking for news well beyond tonight’s debate. And news that will slam Hillary.
Kucinich taken out re UFO question.
F*** PunkinHead.
Obama knocked that out of the park! (about whether there’s life outside of earth)
Russert interrupts a serious discussion about immigration to ask about UFOs???
TexBetsy @ 234
Howdy, Ma’am! Are you watching the festivities?
Obama not listening—the question was about “life beyond birth” something that the anti-choice wing nuts care little about.
Timmeh can’t shake me out with the UFO question: I saw a triangular-shaped UFO twice.
Actually, I enjoyed the Dodd-Clinton tiff.
CTuttle @ 239
I am indeed. Listening anyway and working on my news ninja stuff.
BlueMesa @ 226
And then, Timmeh just wades in in all his glorious nonsense, but Kucinich flipped him with one hand behind his back, Obama did it with one finger & a smile, aaaand, thank heaven, Timmeh was mercifully saved from further embarrassment by the “real” moderator.
when did timmeh retire?
Great work from Barak Obama on the UFO.
Kids alive here. Takin care of life here.
Sounds like Obama, if he really did watch Bill Clinton debate tapes, didn’t pick up much.
RonD @ 225
and Clinton didn’t miss a beat with her lovely, albeit patronizing, smile.
Dodd wants to decriminalize weed???
I just lost the feed and there’s some silly thing about sports camps on
Bible verses and UFOs what people really want to know about candidates in order to make a wise decision.
Dodd wants to decrimenilize marijuana. Common sense.
14% see UFO’s
31% Bush Iraq plan
34% Ghosts
what kind of costume would suggest a math professor?
Halloween costume??
Nekkid on roller skates. I shall be a pull-toy.

Jane Hamsher @ 263
Dodd’s answer about it being a privilege really was bad. Did not address the problem.
had to leave the debate for a moment… what are the talking heads going on about “double talk”?
Jane Hamsher @ 263
Somehow, someway, we need to get a handle on the immigration issue, and do it humanely. It’ll be so tough because the bigots can legally screech and howl to the ends of the earth, and they do.
In the post game Andrea Mitchel said Hillary kept saying she was running against bush/cheney over and over? Hil didn’t say thaaaaat. She spent the whole time struggling to say nothing!!! They hammered HER and she helped :D
These post game people suuuuuuck.
New thread.
Did someone mention earlier today that Valerie Wilson’s going to be on TDS tonight?

I could be onboard with that one too. He is an excellent negotiator. I think he was in on the difusing the north korea sitch. I LIKE his education. Dump no child left behind….. what a boondoggle that is. Senator Richardson!!!! :D
Hi TexB, how are you?

I guess Biden did have the best one lineer – forgot that.

first – address trade policies that contribute to the problem (this is a long term problem, won’t go away over night)
second – job situation here
then, and only then, address immigration legislation – after taking away the fuel that feeds the anti-immigrant frenzy.
sorry. pet peeve.

Yes! It’s on their website.
What a “cheap shot” to Kucinich at the end, to hopefully negate any punch from the 3 times he brought up imeachment of Bush and Cheney, to bring up the UFO sighting by him.
Perfectly timed, perfectly…..f-ed up.
I’m so glad they called Hillary on the driver’s license answer/non answer. Good work Edwards/Obama!!!
Although the 3 levels IS a admin nighmare, Dodd was right about that aspect of it. I’m not sure telling people you want to “come out of the shadows” by saying “We want these people to come out of the shadows” is a good way to go though. It stands to reason they perfer to be undocumented and untrackable for a reason. Helllooooo candidates……. *rolly eyes*
Oh and Hillary comin’ clean…. “We have failed”…. yes, you have. Finally, I can agree with her on something.
Margot @ 282
back pain. otherwise OK.
You?
CTuttle @ 148
No – but the candidates were asked IMPORTANT QUESTIONS about IMPORTANT THINGS (like UFOs, Halloween costumes, etc.) – NOT ONE QUESTION about the restoring the Constitution or civil liberties.
NBC used to be a serious news organization – they should be ashamed.
Russert’s a buffoon…
“Obama says he’s going to end the bickering between parties. Which will easily be accomplished, I suppose, when the wingnuts crush him like a bug.”
really on target comment.
demi @ 25
effect
I missed the whole debate, but I caught the graphic at the top of the post.
I laughed, because the candidates all look like PEZ dispensers. Not a commentary on their answers, I hope.
Not sure what brand the Republican panel would be.
madmommy @ 100
It was begun and the Reagan administration, probably influenced by the oil guys Bush & Cheney, killed it.
Ima @ 290
Yes I cant believe they did not discuss the FISA hold or the AG up for confirmation, nor did they mention the backstabbing FTA Peru expansion up for a vote next week.
I guess the Constitution isn’t a Presidential Issue…
Peace
Matthew
Edwards normally does do a good job of calling bullshit. It’s refreshing.
Obama says he’s going to end the bickering between parties. Which will easily be accomplished, I suppose, when the wingnuts crush him like a bug.
I was like having this you know fierce argument with my significent other when we were driving to the dairy queen for some space=age cold stuff and a gnat or something hit the windshield just when I said ‘your parents inherited a psychosis you just can’t shake’ and the bug juice made me rethink everything.
and at that point too i started thinking of a clinton presidency that would squash every enemy of free trade like a bug and i was like smiling when i let my psychotic partner have a lick of the whirled cold sugary neighpalm ‘twist supreme’
Obama says he’s going to end the bickering between parties. Which will easily be accomplished, I suppose, when the wingnuts crush him like a bug.
and i looked over on the bench and saw mr. obama who was going to change the way politics is done and he looked sad even ‘windshielded’
he told me the tv ad comparing him to the ‘dark skinned judas of old betraying our risen lord before dawn’ was probably what did him in and it was below his ethics to combat such ignorance and instead he called for a national day of ‘oprah viewing’ which saw his poll numbers drop as the average american realized he/she really really really liked half-raw sizzling-hot pork chops on the plate for dinner and screw the foreigners-
Hi folks,
Just a friendly reminder that sockpuppeting and/or using the screen name of a famous person here at FDL is frowned upon and may cause your comments to not appear in public. Thanks!
Look what I found:
The Ultimate Democratic Debate — Senator Mike Gravel vs. MSNBC. Senator Gravel was excluded by MSNBC for the Drexel University debate October 20, 2008. The Senator states the parent company, GE wants him out. GE is part of the military industrial complex. They have contracts in the billions of dollars with the US Government to manufacture equipment for the military.
The nerve of NBC!
