For The President’s Amusement.
Another week begins. Who will outrage the GOP this week? Pete Stark, a lonely nation turns its eyes to you.
88% of CNN respondents say Stark shouldn’t apologize. Who wants those kind of numbers this week?

Thanks, Teddy.
That YouTube needs to go viral.
I know we DFH’s have gotten better at freeping polls, but that 88% really stands out. Surely there’s another Democrat who’d like to take a swipe at Dear Leader this week, just to earn those kind of numbers.

Spotlight!
COuld drop the 22 and expand the search example I gave to all of october in FDL in case Loo Hoo posted more of it elsewhere. But I note on the 22nd is also when Loo Hoo posted about her school evacuating, so I imagine things got hectic after that…
tonight I attended a private house party with my congressman Harry Mitchell tonight. Part of the discussion, Q&A was about the Moveon.org & Pete Stark apologizing. Really hit him about the congressional dems creating circular firing squads for all to see.
Valley Girl @ 10
I love the CNNbot’s outraged head-turn after the Stark clip airs.

OK guys, night time for me! Past my bedtime already. Enjoy the snark…
Harry was very good about listening to our concerns… there was about 15 or so there…. ending the war, impeachment, FISA, strategy for the three bills they are working on….
Actually my opinion of him changed a little… he does not seem to have drank tooooo much Kool-aid and he knew about NOT repeating Repug talking points.
I’m still so pissed; Pete was dead right. WTF happens to people when they get into congress? Pete was Nancy’s homie of many years. It’s an outrage!
loohoo, RBG, king of fdl searches, searched and only found your comment about the letter – no letter posted here at the Lake :(

Thanks, PB. It would have been several days before the 22nd. I’ve been looking too. This is so frustrating!
I’ve never understood why the military on the aircraft carrier wore such bright colors, and I’ve never understood why Bush thinks he can control what Iranians THINK about attaining nuclear weapons.
Suzanne @ 19
Riiiiiiiiiiight. And just what … umm … “inducements” were offered?
Excellent video.
I’d prefer numbers in the 90s this week; if Bush wastes more taxpayer resources flying over fires, it’s doable.

Hillary is actually my choice for outraging the GOP this week. I’d like to see her put a hold on a telecom-immunity FISA bill and then put a hold on Mukasey until he defines waterboarding as not-torture.
But I’m not holding my breath.
Incidentally, The Doddster sez no to Mukasey:
Sweet, huh?
Is anything special planned for Cassie’s 16th birthday?
Wouldn’t it be cool if she was allowed to cross-post one of her posts from her blog to the front page of FDL?
TeddySanFran @ 42
Sweet! Good for Dodd and don’t hold your breath for hill teddy!
TeddySanFran @ 42
Right now, I’m seeing Hillary as Bush in a skirt. I’d like to do something to disabuse me of that illusion. But she doesn’t seem quick to take up that cause.

Good evening dear friends. Anyone bring snack, or were you waiting for me?
TeddySanFran @ 31

I like that Dodd simply sez Mukasey has disqualified himself. He’s not looking for some lame-ass re-statement of whether waterboarding is torture, like the SJC is. Dodd sez Mukasey’s simply disqualified.
TeddySanFran @ 42
Damn! It is so important for the Democrats to take a principled stand and turn that bastard down.
Sure, the VSPs will try to intimidate them with the finger-wagging warning: “The next one could be worse. You should thank your lucky stars for such a good man.”
And there is only one honorable reply: “FUCK YOU!” Principles are principles and honorable people don’t compromise them.

If this controversy makes the SJC, and Senate Democrats generally, think twice about taking Chuck Schumer’s word for something the next time around, then GOOD. He vouched for Mukasey, let him justify his love.

It’s Sunday morning, so it’s time once again to let the FOX News panel of Brit Hume, Mara Liasson, Bill Kristol and Juan Williams to get their wargasm on. It’s absolutely disgusting to watch Brit Hume and Bill Kristol get all flushed and turgid while discussing bunker busting bombs and America’s military might trying to scare all the other nations straight. Big talk from overcompensating little men who are all too brave with other people’s lives.

Sounding Like A Republican
http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r…..6278744/77
Big Tent Democrat
So Barack Obama is going to go after Hillary Clinton now. Umm, what took him so long? Anyway, this part bothered me:
[Obama] accused [Clinton] of “straddling between the Giuliani, Romney side of the foreign policy equation and the Barack Obama side of the equation.” He said that she was trying to “sound or vote” like a Republican on national security issues and that that was “bad for the country and ultimately bad for Democrats.”
Very true. But what about trying to sound like a Republican on social issues? What about all that appealing to “values voters” that Obama does? We all know about Obama’s willingness to attack Democrats in front of “values voters” and this statement is ominous:
Mr. Obama suggested that she was too divisive to win a general election and that if she won, she would be unable to bring together competing factions in Washington to accomplish anything. “There is a legacy that is both an enormous advantage to her in a Democratic primary, but also a disadvantage to her in a general election,” he said. “I don’t think anybody would claim that Senator Clinton is going to inspire a horde of new voters,” he said. “I don’t think it’s realistic that she is going to get a whole bunch of Republicans to think differently about her.”
But they are going to like the way Obama panders to the “values voters?” Excuse me Senator Obama, it will be good to see you draw sharp distinctions with Senator Clinton on certain issues. But how about you drawing some distinctions with Republicans on other issues? Your Joe Lieberman imitation on “values” is a serious problem.

Lawmakers: Mukasey must reject “waterboarding” (Reuters)
Reuters – WASHINGTON (Reuters) — Michael Mukasey should be denied Senate confirmation as U.S. attorney general unless the retired judge denounces as torture the interrogation technique known as waterboarding, a top Democrat said on Sunday.
Yahoo! News
p.s. Schumer earned no love from me when he did his massive triangulation during the Lamont CT race. Total shill, Schumer was.
Speaking of polls. CNN did a bit more digging about that supposed level of disgust at Congress that somehow dragged them below the Presidents “disapproval”level. You’d think that it was the Democrats fault from this article. It turns out that Congress has 75% disapproval (vs, Bush’s which is a few points lower).
http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20…..Bn3ZOsOrgF
But is that reality? Do the Democrats really have this low of of approval? Or does the public lay most of the blame at the door of the Republicans who are intransigent?
Well there WAS a second question published in the report (there were at least FIVE QUESTIONS ~ judging from the numbers of the questions,~ but three aren’t published)
This question asked if the respondant thought that the Democratic Congressional leadership was doing a good job.
And here’s what the survey showed in that regard. 43% of the respondants APPROVED and 51% Disapproved (with 6% NA) of the Democratic leaderships efforts.
Certainly that support level is going DOWN (by 6% since May) and Disapproval has increased by 11%…and this may be directly due to the concessions being offered – like the deal cut with the WH regarding FISA and continuing funding for the war. So the LEADERSHIP is losing support. Which makes perfect sense, actually, given the increasing frustration that progressives are having with the foolish compromises them leadership is making with the Republicans. After you include those 20% Kool-Aid Drinkers that would hate Pelosi and Reid simply for having a D after their names, you’ve also got a lot of Democrats who are disapproving of the Vichy-like cowardice of Nancy and Harry.
But as well, the survey suggests that the Democrats are not viewed as the principle culprits in the ineffectiveness of Congress. In fact, the Democrats have almost twice the approval of Congress overall, which suggests that what is really dragging Congressional approval down is the actions of the Republicans who are blocking all the efforts to deal with Iraq, Constitutional Rights, SCHIP, etc.
Congress is at 23%…the Democratic leadership at 43% (well above Dubya). So that would mean that the RepublicanCongressional support is something like….well 0%…if you split the difference. Given the margin of error, of course!
http://i.a.cnn.net/cnn/2007/im…..rel10m.pdf
So the results of this survey would also explain why, despite the major disapproval of Congressional inactivity, that Democrats are favored highly over Republicans when people are surveyed. Folks know that the only way to end the war and get anything done over Bush’s vetos and Republican filibusters is to get more Blue Bodies into the ongress that will not vote to help the Republicans create inaction.
I’m also curious about what those other questions were that CNN “pulled”. Did they, perchance, question what the approval rating was of the Republicans in Congress were? Or perhaps ask what people thought of the work of the rank-and-file Democrats in Congress (not the leadership)?
Were those numbers simply too high to satisfy the MSM meme that the Democrats are vilified more than Bush????
Valley Girl @ 99
According to Howie, Chuckie went ballistic when he heard Jim Neal was the only opposition to Liddy Dole in North Carolina, with Jim being gay and all….

NYT on Bush being a menace.
America’s allies and increasingly the American public are playing a ghoulish guessing game: Will President Bush manage to leave office without starting a war with Iran? Mr. Bush is eagerly feeding those anxieties. This month he raised the threat of “World War III” if Iran even figures out how to make a nuclear weapon.
With a different White House, we might dismiss this as posturing — or bank on sanity to carry the day, or the warnings of exhausted generals or a defense secretary more rational than his predecessor. Not this crowd.

George W. Bush In A “Straitjacket?”
from Brave New Films blog by info@bravenewfilms.org
So says LA Times Columnist Rosa Brooks. I have trouble arguing with her line of reasoning.
Forget impeachment.
Liberals, put it behind you. George W. Bush and Dick Cheney shouldn’t be treated like criminals who deserve punishment. They should be treated like psychotics who need treatment.
Because they’ve clearly gone mad. Exhibit A: We’re in the middle of a disastrous war in Iraq, the military and political situation in Afghanistan is steadily worsening, and the administration’s interrogation and detention tactics have inflamed anti-Americanism and fueled extremist movements around the globe. Sane people, confronting such a situation, do their best to tamp down tensions, rebuild shattered alliances, find common ground with hostile parties and give our military a little breathing space. But crazy people? They look around and decide it’s a great time to start another war.
Tough to keep up with you guys!

Well! I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall during THAT conversation!
Good grief! And, kinda as a humorous aside (or not) the problem isn’t that Jim is gay, it is that he is totally out of the closet about it (thinking of the “problem” from Schumer’s point of view). Schumer just doesn’t want challenges to the “status quo”, so to speak.
Maybe it’s okay to have someone like Barney Frank in the House, but in the Senate, THE SENATE, NOT. That would totally ruin the decor and the decorum. /snark. (major snark)

The suburb where I used to work seems to contain a sizeable proportion of our Jewish community. Not only are matzoh and other kosher products available in the supermarkets, there is a specialty store. I’ve never seen rugelach, but I’ve never looked for it either. If I can help, just let me know.
As for bagels, I used to take a lady living at the Jewish retirement home to the shops every week. She taught me a lot about buying fruit and vegetables. One day I asked her what bagels are, thinking that they were an essential Jewish food group. She just looked puzzled, then said, ‘oh, that’s an American thing’.

Another case of a Marine coming back from Iraq with a real problem??? Or maybe he was just gettin’ ready to go into combat with a little “live fire” practice? Seems to have some problems taking his finger off the trigger and distinguishing between innocents and the enemy…
“For almost a week, a string of animal killings baffled deputies and put neighbors on edge in the Placer County foothills northwest of Newcastle. The victims include a young bull, two goats, a chicken and a pet dog. Deputies say in one instance, a house was also hit by two shots aimed at outside lights.
Now, two 18-year-old men are arrested in the killing spree.Sheriff’s deputies believe Collin James Lovejoy and Timothy Randall Schulz were involved in the string of shootings which killed livestock and at least one family pet along Gold Hill Road and Wise Road. Lovejoy is on active duty in the U.S. Marine Corps, according to deputies.
“It’s just got everybody around her crazy because that’s like a drive-by shooting. I mean, we never have that,” said Barbara Ferreira, who had a bull shot on her property Thursday night…The bull shooting apparently happened at night. The goats were shot in separate incidents, and at least one was reportedly during the day when someone spotted a maroon pick-up with large tires and a painted stripe. A .223 caliber bullet was reportedly recovered from one of the animals.
Former San Francisco 49er star Dan Bunz…moved horses away from the pasture in front of his home. “I mean if they’re shooting goats and dogs and bulls, you know a horse is the very next thing,” said Bunz. “My daughters are out here a lot of times their friends, they’re right next to the road and somebody driving by, just taking pot shots at animals, is just ludicrous,” said Bunz. “I just can’t believe it.” “

The Republicans will use such a vote for Judge “Waterboard” against them. They’ll say, “
But YOU VOTED FOR HIM…how can you NOW EXPRESS INDIGNATION at what you APPROVED of at the time. YOU KNEW that he didn’t say that Waterboarding was torture, you knew it was controversial, you knew that he said he’d have to think about it. Now he’s “thought about it”…you deferred to HIS JUDGEMENT! You voted FOR HIM!”
That’s why they should let Bush put in a recess appointment…why should they allow themselves to be willing Quislings on this!
Valley Girl @ 129
PunkinHead asked Chuckie on MTP before the primary, if he would support the nominee of his party should Ned win, or split and stay with RGJoe. Chuckie repeatedly ducked and PunkinHead really tried to pin him. No dice.

don’t blame us for boosh’s recess appts
And, in an FDL post way back when, Pach provided evidence as to exactly how odious Schumer is.
Too late in the eve for me to go off googling, but basically, the Schumer message was that Schumer would not commit to supporting the candidate who won the CT primary (Lamont/ LIeberman). Lamont won, and of course, Schumer did not support him.

Ideas needed from the Pups:
Folks, every Thursday night I feed a motley collection of single Aussies and try to make it interesting by doing themes. I did American Thanksgiving last year and I’ve done various ethnic nights but thought it would be fun to do something for Halloween, which is really not observed here. Apart from carving a pumpkin can anybody think of what sort of a main meal you’d serve at halloween or that would suggest Halloween? When I was a kid dinner was mainly a bag of candy but I don’t think that will do it.
Any ideas appreciated.

Do you happen to remember any “unusual” words from the email, that might help me google this to see if someone else has posted their own received email? Like, really distinctive words? If you can remember, that would really help narrow down the google search.
I continue to have faith that the “email” is out there somewhere on the net, posted by another recipient of the same email.
Suzanne @ 164
Downunder? Apple Boarding will be done at the White House Halloween Party with The Veep presiding. How scary is that?
Hey, Loo Hoo!
Looks like it’s near certain that I’m coming south this weekend.
Give me the address info again if you please…
Thanks!

christmas in the heat makes sense to me.

summers are hotter in texas (here).

I think I’d rather see the veep breathing through an apple at the bottom of a pail.

Little tricksters carrying AK-47s and strapped with suicide bombs?
GIVE ME LOLLIES OR GIVE ME DEATH!

That sounds very civilized. In NY we’d get olderteenagers at the door and it was hard to tell if it was trick or treat or armed robbery.
TexBetsy @ 163
It was so last thread…

Yes, I remember. i have lived in NY, NJ, MD & IL in addition to TX.

Eh? (Sorry, was off wandering per usual) Thanks, TB
That sounds like an Eddie Izzard joke. :D

Not really. Just that ‘I will not be voting in favor of the confirmation of Judge Southwick’ type sentence. She was very definite. That’s why I was so shocked to read that she voted for his confirmation after being out of it all week.
TexBetsy @ 168
Ah, a fine neighborhood that sounds like. We never had Halloween when I was growing up. My only information came from TV shows, so please excuse my ignorance. I wondered how people let it be known that they weren’t interested.
Let’s see…. 88% No…. hmmmmmm…
TeddySanFran, I’d like to have Hillary see those numbers this week if you please. :-)
I’d have said The Nancy Congress… but they’re pretty much there already.

Close to noon as possible. Burns will be wearing a 2005 tournament cap of some type.
usual dodge when i was a kid was lights out at the house – as if no one was home
if lights were on, it was fair game.
now, its outside lights on and/or decorations that invite the tricksters.
petedownunder @ 166
having easter going Into winter just seems wrong.
whereas i find christmas in the bright summer perfectly reasonable, if northern hemisphere counter-intuitive.
But springtime Halloween?
bizarre.
halloween needs more gloom.
it seems so parochial.
i seem so parochial.

They just close the curtains, turn out most lights, and ignore the doorbell.
Loo Hoo. @ 188
I used to put a sign on the door “Sleeping baby. Please don’t knock. Have a spooky Halloween”
Loo Hoo. @ 185
Will do.
I will bring down anyone who wants to come, provided we can get scheduling right…
Loo Hoo. @ 174
Fortunately for me, the area where I live is blessed with an awful, completely-undeserved reputation. It’s the part of town where all the nightclubs are so people come in from the suburbs, drink until they’re talking in Braille, get into fights and attack each other. So the news reports say “a man was seriously injured in a knife attack in Persiville” or “Two shot dead in gang fight in Persiville.” What they don’t say is that it happens at 3am. We’re safely tucked up in our beds by then. The reputation, though, probably protects us from trick-or-treaters.

Ah, tipping outhouses, those were the days :D

I am trying to get my timeshare in Dana Point for an after party and crashing point, but don’t know for sure. I’m on a wait list and am not too optimistic after the fires.

So, exactly what I do when I spot Mormons coming in the front gate. I have to really, otherwise I can’t stop the giggles when somebody who looks barely old enough to get a paper round introduces himself as “elder”.
Loo Hoo. @ 194
Nice!
persiflage @ 195
Send them to my house. We have lotsa fun with the Mormon gents going door to door hereabouts!
And on that note, I’m headed to bed! It’s been real, pups!
Night Teddy.
I’m out myself.

Nice. Embracing the occult in the land of the Talibangelicals. I guess I don’t get it because I never had it. I wish I’d been smart enough to think of it though, I always like free treats.
Loo Hoo. @ 203
They don’t come to my door anymore, not since I moved to a more bohemian area. Now I sometimes get Hare Krishnas at the door, selling incense and handing out flyers for their restaurant. Back in the day when I did get Morman visitors I always read their name tags closely – looking for Elder Young.
Good night pups, thanks for the help.
Good night Pete. I’m wondering now if I’ll ever get to Australia with the value of the dollar being what it is.
On the way to bed…but I just had to stick my head in the Lake and say hi to everyone. Gotta be up in two hours…HI EVERYONE!
Goodnight, all.
Niters Ron and all – am outta here too.

Night, LH, I do hope you can make it here someday. We’ll leave the light on for you.

Wrt your story about drive-by shootings of animals:
Front page yesterday in the nearest daily paper and less than a half-hour up the road had news of a mother and her young child found dead along with an ex-Marine. Early days in the investigation but thoughts are female and child were killed by the guy who then shot himself.
Did I forget to mention he had three tours in Iraq? :-(
This type of misery is likely to become epidemic. I greatly fear, in the years to come.
TexBetsy @ 180
Oh!!! Wow, that looks great, TBet! Thanks again.
For your inspiration, watch Barbara Jordan’s speech in 1974 regarding impeachment. It is considered one of the top 100 speeches of American rhetoric! The link provides a video of her speech, as well as the transcript.

TSF you rock if 88% of CNN viewers those who watch Lou Dobbs immigration haterd and Glen Beck’s stupidity of he day hate rants, don’t think Stark should apoligize.
Then this fake GOP/Media liberal outrage of the week thing has started to have the opposite the intended results. I think attacking sick 12 yr old kids who want healthcare is what did it.
Still the learning curve will be interesting will the GOP pull the about once a week liberal outrage for the weekly hate campaign? Before Nancy learns that she should stand next to ANY member of Congress that gets 88%.
Waccamaw @ 217
The Mob is givng/bundling contrbutons to the GOP and Holy Joe? I….I can’t believe they would sink that low? Whatever happened to the mob that threw races to Democrats?
I wonder if Rudy’s Bernie Kerick mob connection producded funds for Rudy from the same people?
fatuous militarist Jack Jacobs said everyone knew Valerie Plame was an agent –”widely known around the beltway”…he said
what an ass
And if you just want to be offended, go to http://shakespearessister.blogspot.com/ for a thread on “jingle jugs” a robotic ‘trophy rack’ of disembodied breasts that ‘jiggle’ to xmas music (yes, think of the singing bass…)
Evil and stupid.
Never mind that Stark was right and truthful CNN viewers who are certainly not Lefty Bloggrs prefered the truth to any respect/honor the Righty/Authoritarians ussaly award the office of the Presidency. This move away from the you can’t tell the truth without embarrasing the office of the presidecy represens a BIG shift, a tipping point that is just starting to occur.
The Authorataians are shifting they are not recoginising Bush as THEIR Queen Bee leader who must be potected at all costs.
Bush represents a way of thinking an attitude about government and religon however inarticulate he may be Bush is THEIR boy!
Throwdown Bush you throwdown Evangical churches and Chicago style ecconmics you throw down NeoCons and big oil.
Sure the movement will reform but with a new head and in response to any mistakes real or drumed up by the right wing media that we make.
Succeces and/or rather the preception of succes like Regean had is what will keep us in power. Our mistakes real or precevived will define the GOP after Bush.
Real Accomplishment in the areas that matter the most to voters will get us succes End the War, National Healthcare.
Good morning, pups. Today it’s Cohen and Krugman in the NYT. Roger Cohen is in Afghanistan and has visited the site of the Buddhas of Bamiyan. Mr. Krugman writes about how certain presidential candidates have made unreasoning, unjustified terror the centerpiece of their campaigns.

The coffee and tea are ready, and the biscuits just came out of the oven. It really feels like fall here this morning — 55 degrees. And it may not reach 70. Have a good day.

No End In Sight: The American Occupation of Iraq
The replay isn’t up yet but it’s worth watching when it does get posted, here’s the transcript
can’t wait to see the movie.
Stark gets 88% of CNN people who think he has nothing to apoligize for. Bush after 9/11 had an over 70% approval rating. I don’t think even Fox gave him an 88% approval rating.

Bush is now more unpopular that he was ever popular! :)
Nancy is going to have to start impeachment hearings or risk being the first woman Speaker of the House of Representives…. to be voted out of office….. after her party wins a bigger majority.
katherine Graham Cracker @ 229
I guess the question to ask would be, when was that known and by exactly whom? Both Fitzgerald and Plame say that prior to the Novak disclosure that was not the case.
Things Come Undone @ 237
I have tried to give Pelosi (and the Dem leadership in general) the benefit of the doubt, but I’ve run out of patience.
Before the election last year, my righty brother was raving about the perils of a Democratic House. When I asked what would be so bad about that, the only thing he could do was sputter “but Nancy Pelosi will be speaker!”
The only thing bad he could say about her, as the radio idiots he listens to don’t really do policy was “she’s from San Francisco.”
I suggested that she wouldn’t be so bad, from his perspective.
I was right. Whether it’s ‘battered wife’ or ‘Stockholm’ syndrome, the Dem Leadership is a joke…
Stark gets 88% of CNN people who tink he has nothing to apoligize for wigwam @ 238
If it was known then how come Scooter couldn’t find ANY witnesses to say this in court?
Scooter could have saved a lot of money if Jack Jacobs was a real friend willing to testify. If what Jack says is true then Scooter has no Real Friends at all in Washington.
Where is the moral outrage that even though poor unpopular Scooter is INNOCENT and every Weenie on the Washington Cocktail Weenie party circuit knew Scooter was innocent.
Not a single Neocon was willing to testify to the “cough ” TRUTH!
MR. Bill @ 239
They seem to be working for the same people that Bush is.
wigwam @ 238
He said it on msgop right before crazy joe interviewed Plame…she must have been listening because she pointed out he was a big ole load of crap…
she robably remember him from –the British soldiers captured by Iran should have “fought to the death…”
he is a complete and total f–kwad
MR. Bill @ 239
Which is why Nancy will be replaced just getting a high office does not make you a feminist hero you have to do something heroic.
Jees why does she want to be a caretaker Speaker of the House, is Dennis Hastert her role model?
Wouldn’t truth in packaging require Pelosi’s, Reed’s, and Feinstein’s “D” come with an l-backslash attached to the bottom?
http://www. Shuster takes down Tucker over the Valerie Palme case.
Waccamaw @ 214
I agree, especially in bad economic times…and if, as I strongly suspect, the war continues to go badly. Imagine if we end up going to war with Iran. I don’t think that anyone except the most insane would stick around for a fourth tour.
And this whole thing of sending unwilling Foreign Service employees off to serve in the huge embassy in Iraq is foreboding. Makes one wonder if Bush will start to draft others in other sectors of the government to serve over there. National Park Ranger or Border Service…you may have to protect the border of Iraq. Work in a Federal Penitentiary…may have to go and deal with Iraqi prisoners. Probably we’ll find some clause in the Heimat Security Agency contracts that one signs that says they can reassign you to do security at Federal installations overseas.
I’ve got it on the skinny that US diplomats in other countries are worried about the number of qualified staff in their areas are already plummeting, and this is affecting interactions and activities in places like Africa, S. America, and Asia. US influence is dropping as the ability to make commercial arrangements, provide business and student visas, and even to interact with the host countries officials becomes impaired. Diplomats trained for Japan, China, Brazil and Kenya are having to completely learn new languages and skills. And the old station loses them and generally gets untrained replacements.
The obsession with Iraq is drawing off resources elsewhere. That opens the door for other countries, like China, to make the commercial links that we were unable to.
So we are gonna bleed at home and abroad because Bush is so obsessed with with his legacy in Iraq (and IRAN).
trying it again

Suicide bomber kills 27 recruits in Iraq
In southern Iraq, meanwhile, the U.S. military turned over security responsibilities to Iraqi authorities in the mainly Shiite province of Karbala, the eighth of the nation’s 18 provinces to revert to Iraqi control.
morning!
I watched the Carlson/Shuster video
it just confirms Carlson is an idiot.
But it also confirms something else I have suspected which is while Shuster is a great reporter and no matter what I would take him over any of the alleged political beat reporters on tv. But he made the same claim I have heard from other reporters, “Democrats do not market their message well.” WTF
plus he was a reporter in Ark and likes Hucksterbee a little too much.
