I am out of here, permanently. Before I go, a few responses:

I offered a polite correction to Naomi Wolf’s careless use of the word “decide” when referring to the what the AG does. It wasn’t meant to be a big deal. I thought this site valued factual accuracy and attacked others for their lack thereof. However, others eagerly jumped in to stretch the facts to fit Naomi’s words. And for the record, Naomi’s response was anything but “clear.”

As for the I/P matter: you regard it as “nitpicking” when I take exception to blanket “shorthand” accusations against an entire nation, its supporters, and their ethnicity. You defend such characterizations on the ground that we don’t know the secret workings of what goes on in government. That’s right, we don’t — and anyone who’s ever attended a 6th grade history class can appreciate where things end up when we start attributing mysterious behind the scenes manipulations to a vaguely perceived entity defined only by the ethnicity of its members.

My use of the word “st*rfuckers” may have been intemperate, but I stand by the essence of what I said, evidened here on a daily basis by the endless bleating of “Great post _____”; and by the gushing reception of Valerie Plame the other day by folks who normally don’t show much love for CIA operatives.

As far as open discussion and disagreement at FDL, it does go on among commenters, but is virtually nonexistent with respect to the revered front page post-ers. For example, last week we witnessed an extraordinarily rude smackdown by Ms Hamsher to a commenter who dared to post a series of positive facts about the Beth Israel CEO (or whatever his title is) who was the target of Ms. Hamsher’s post.

In that same vein, when it comes to personal attacks and name calling, IOKIYA a front page post-er.

But, as you all have said, it’s their place — they make the rules.

Norske Flamethrower: I’ve frequently enjoyed your strategically misspelled rants. For you to think I’m a neocon A*PAC operative is just funny…..but hey, keep the faith.
