Well I’m at the point of my tour that I REALLY want to get home. The shows have been great, the crowds boisterous, and the companionship with the other bands on the tour (The Donnas and American Bang) has been stellar, but physically I’m a bit of a wreck. Mind you, I’ve been worse but I’m pretty battered. I’m a physical performer and sometimes I get carried away. My onstage shenanigans in Austin last night have given me an injury to the wing area of my back that goes all the way through to my chest. I’m covered in bruises and my body feels like a big sponge soaked with beer. I miss my cats too. Three more days, three more days…..
I’m stuck in the van in the middle of Texas en route to New Mexico with no internet so behave yourselves in “comments” ya’ll. Please enjoy the playlist of some very cool tunes to chill out by. Peace!

Hey everyone what’s up? By the way Donita, hope your injury gets better!
Donita!
Donita!
OMG, these are some of my very favorite songs! I’m a teenager again.
Hey Donita
Oh, Donita!!!!!!
Savannah @ 5
Everyone, this is my best friend Sav, she’s new to FDL, she’s a big L7 and Donita fan
Donita is unfortunately unavailable this week again, she is in the Texas/New Mexican desert today traveling to her next tour stop. She does have a great playlist though!
Hi Savannah. Welcome!
finifinito @ 8
Awww…..that sucks, I hope we can talk to her next week
finifinito @ 8
Shes not avaiable to Talk?
fini, what did donita figure out about eating on the road?
Savannah @ 11
There’s probably no ‘net connection out there
Saw the title, saw the post and thought I might have seen Jerry Jeff Walker’s “London Homesick Blues” the ultimate homesickness song (I got so drunk listening to that song in Tokyo one night… homesick at XMas).
Hope you’re feeling better… :) Rock On!
Loo Hoo. @ 9
Thank you!
Oh and for anyone who missed it, today is Christy and Siun’s birthday! In honor of that, Happy Birthday courtesy of Concrete Blonde!
finifinito @ 16
Concrete Blonde??!?!?! Awesome! I love that band!!
Savannah @ 11
Not this week but she will be back next week. She has mobile internet but I guess there is no coverage in the desert. I do know if you leave a message here she reads these later when she can’t be here.
My favorite jazz song of this era is Trust in Me by Herbie Mann. Cannot get it anywhere, I’ve tried. It doesn’t credit anyone on the album, but you know it’s Mann when you hear it. Just a giant pair of lips with red lipstick on the cover.
It’s the song the snake sings on Jungle Book.
finifinito @ 18
Yeah Sav, don’t worry, she’ll probably be here next week, then we can talk with her
Whoa… Killer play list!
Here’s our spin tonight:

Happy Birthday Christy!
Happy Birthday siun!
Happy Trails Donita!
Happy Birthday Christy, for whenever you get back! And many happies.
Donita,
You likely have a rib joint out of whack where it meets your spine. It’s about the only thing that will create concurrent mid back and chest pain (like an arrow going through you) after physical exertion or contortion.
Any competent chiropractic doctor, physical therapist or osteopath should be able to help you out. You can try to wait it out, but these usually don’t resolve too quickly on their own.
FWIW.
Bustednuckles @ 24
Yeah…what he said!
RBG @ 27
Double yeah!
finifinito @ 28
Triple yeh
Well Donita, wherever you are in Texas…I think the longest days of my life were driving across Texas when the speed limit was 55.
Eureka Springs @ 30
What’s it like over there, I’ve become kinda curious
Hello everyone!
Jess @ 7
Welcome Savanna! Hope you like the place. I’m a newbie as well and still desperately trying to fit in.
Donita Sparks @ 0
Sorry to hear, hope Ms. Sparks will be better soon.
PS. Thanks for the playlist.
Norman Wagner @ 32
Welcome to you too
Thanks Jess! :)
Jess @ 31
Obviously very boring. I mean 55 in a van and no internet?
Norman Wagner @ 34
That’s all I know, god I can just imagine how horrible it is down there >_
Jess @ 31
East Texas? It’s like a prison without walls..unless storms are brewing.. I love east Texas storms!

GO NOW!
Eureka Springs @ 30
Oh jeez. If i was a passenger i’d have had a book–and a walkman(mp3 player today). I did that constantly on family roadtrips.
Hi, Donita!!!
I was far away from the internet because my computer was with problem, but now it’s ok and I’m here again! The tour with Donnas was great, as you said! Congratulations!!!
Donita, I want to ask you: I’m keeping money to travel for Sao Paulo, in December, to watch your shows here in Brazil (I’ve to travel because I live in the northeast of Brazil and Sao Paulo is in the southeast). I want to know: how much cost the tickets to the show? Did it already confirm the prices? I need to know soon, because I’m keeping money for the trip and for the show! Thanks for all!
From a great fan from Brazil, Jandira.
lots of drinking taking place downstairs..what can I get y’all?
A glass of white wine will do for me, thank you.
Loo Hoo. @ 12
Um … Loo Hoo … won’t it be easier for her to eat on a table ?!! *g*
Well, fini, please pass along to Donita that traveling is tough enough without beating the snot out of yourself. Take care, and have that rib looked at by professionals.
Feingold is being interviewed by Rachel Maddow on Air America right now…!!!

Nancy Pelosi just “rebuked” (as the San Francisco Chronicle is putting) Rep. Peter Stark for his little blow up during a debate yesterday. This makes me SO ANGRY. Why can’t these people just back each other up?!? The man is telling pretty much the truth and frankly, if he’s a little frustrated with the Congress right now, he has a right to be! Pelosi needs to get down off her middle of the road high horse and start working with the people who damn well put her in that office (the people she’s trying to ditch with ENDA )before we damn well take her out. Grrr…..
Did someone mention Texas?

I will second that … if Donita ever finds herself in Toronto, I’ll show her some yoga/meditation to keep her back toned !
Petrocelli @ 48
She was in Toronto 2 weeks ago
We used to fill up the tank, put the guy with an international drivers license in the driving seat and do 110 mph til the tank ran dry… fill it up and do it again til we hit the NM State line. On occasion, Texas police would pull us over and once they realized a language they didn’t know was needed they would just yell in slow phonetic English and send us on our way without so much as a warning.
Twisted Martini, I’ll take a longneck please..)
Twisted Martini @ 41
Um … Twisted, Elliott and I are parched … and downstairs … *g*

here’s the link
i gotta say ‘amen’… but i think we should bring this conversation to the previous thread?
“Soulful Strut” by Young/Holt Unlimited…nice!
For some stupid reason, it brings to mind this mid-sixties instrumental.
Kind of corny, but I like it, don’t ask me why.
Also, Herbie Hancock “Watermelon Man” — very nice, ever heard “Chameleon” by HH? It was a mid-charter in the mid-70’s.
And, one more thing, you want some great Herbie Hancock music, rent “The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner” — he does the soundtrack, mostly.
Have a safe trip home, Donita.
Eureka, sending a Peroni your way…
Jess @ 49
Drat, I didn’t even know she’s on tour … the offer remains open, Donita ! Contact me via Facebook.
Twisted Martini @ 41
Corona with.
Link didn’t work. Let’s try again…
For some stupid reason, it brings to mind this mid-sixties instrumental.
And, special bonus, because I found it, link to Chameleon.
guess I missed the party

Twisted Martini @ 41
I ordered a Canadian Club Manhattan on the rocks, but it was EPU’d.
Threads are moving fast today!
msmolly @ 59

But wait, there’s more.
Somebody stop me…
There’s a new thread

1-2 to 1-4-72 Drove from Jax to LA. The old-timers may remember 1-1-74 as the first day of the double nickel. The speedometer didn’t work. Got it fixed at the first stop in CA. 65-70 turned out to be 85-95, 36 hours for the trip. Still took forever to cross Texas.
Got to the studio in LA saw a friend and stopped to talk. Fellow walked out of the studio and came over to talk to my friend. They finished, she introduced me, Joe, this is John, John, Joe. When he walked away I noticed the Chinese girl following him and everything clicked, I thought he looked familiar. I had met and shaken the hand of a god, former Beatle anyway and that’s getting pretty close.
I thought I handled it pretty well, what else could I have said?
JB
Donita,
Sometimes the road can be rough but it’s always an adventure.
JB
I miss my cats too. Three more days, three more days…
OMG, that would be the hardest part about touring for me!
Wow! what a playlist.
HHancock has an interesting new album of Joni Mitchell songs. I haven’t heard the whole thing, but the one with this lady named Tina Turner on vocals is quite beautiful. She’s a real up-and-comer;)
