Valerie Plame Wilson will be here on Monday, October 22 for a special edition of the FDL Book Salon to chat about her much anticipated new book, Fair Game. The salon will be hosted by Sidney Blumenthal.
So get all those questions ready you’ve been storing up for all this long while, it should be a barn burner.

Hi Jane. What time Monday?
WooHoo, not just La Plame, but Blumenthal, too! What time, please?
Far out!!! Will her esteemed hubby participate…??? 8-)
Another great catch for the book salon. Has anyone picked up her book yet?
Just read were Dodd is moving to Iowa. He is renting a house and will be living here until the Iowa Caucasus. I have been a big supporter of Edwards and think he is deserving of my support but I chipped in a little money to Dodd’s campaign today due to his principled stand on the FISA bill. Welcome to Iowa Senator Dodd.
Jane, congratulations. This is quite a “get” (on the first official day of her book release).
I look forward to it…hope the servers (and mods) are ready!
a small suggestion….
set up a separate thread for everyone who doesn’t have a question, but wants to tell VPW what a hero she is to all of us!
Does this mean the CIA admitted Valerie worked for Company?
p.lukasiak @ 8
I think the servers can handle it. I’m glad she’ll be here to hear it.
I hope it’s during daylight hours ’cause then Novakula will still be in his crypt.
-ck- @ 9
that was snark, right?
IIRC the CIA has admitted it a long time ago and it’s only the wing-nuts who keep repeating “but she wasn’t covert”.

Great News – both on Valerie Plame and her host!
OT – TRex may or may not be sad. Amy’s been arrested in Bergen, Norway for possession of a quarter ounce of pot. I didn’t know they busted you in Norway for that small an amount of the stuff…
Funnydiva2002 @ 12
Not at all — the CIA was blocking publication of the book, by refusing VPW permission to say that she worked for the Agency.
AAACK!
I found the only copy Powells Books has left in stock and it’s in Beaverton.
I put a hold on it and will have to drive about 80 miles round trip.
They have to call me back to confirm it.
C’mon cell phone, ring dammit!
WOW!
Must.. not.. make.. comment.. about.. great.. cover.. photo.. on.. Valerie’s.. book!
Spock! Help me, I’m losing this battle.
That Hold is no good. Harry Reid will authorize the bookseller to release the copy to the general public.

bada-bing
Boo Radley @ 16
Hey Boo…sometimes I’m not the brightest bulb. Nice to see you around the Lake.
willy @ 17
It’s OK, Wills. There’s hardly anyone here to hear you anyway. Besides, I’m a girl and I’ve already said to myself that it’s a great cover photo.

Everybody moved on, and I still don’t know what time.
Harry will learn.
Don’t get between me and that book.
RBG, you are a very bright bulb. I’ll shoot you an email of explanation.
Funnydiva2002 @ 21
If I were a Russian spy, I’d tell her all of my secrets… but I’d let them out as slowly as possible, and speak quietly, so that she’d have to lean closer and ask me over and over again, “What was that again?”
And then, of course, there would be some secrets that I’d have to whisper in her ear– while trying not to pant too hard!
:-)

I am looking forward to the Plame interview. Thanks for having her on.
Boo Radley – heh – how’s it going?
CTuttle @ 4
Noooo – geez. I don’t want him here unless he’s an observer. I’m interested in what SHE has to say. Isn’t that the point?
I’ve got a copy of The CIA and the Cult of Intelligence by Victor Marchetti and David Wise.
First edition with entire pages and paragraphs whited out because someone at the CIA said no, don’t print that.
The publishers printed it that way to demonstrate the nature of free speech in a national security state.
I’ll put Valerie’s book on my shelf next to the Marchetti and Wise classic.
Lindy @ 22
Exactly what I’m looking for too.
I pre-ordered the book earlier this week. I can’t wait to get it.

mmHhmmm
Mommybrain @ 27
Hi Mommybrain. I mostly just lurk here now. Hope you are well.
Will the redacted passages appear as black strips in the book. It seems as though it should serve as a reminder to the readers of all that is not being read. (This is not America, sha la la la la.)
Any possibility that the redacted sections could get declassified for future editions by whomever the next president appoints as CIA director?
Who was the last competent and not politicized CIA director?
ME, too, Boo. I am so well, like you wouldn’t believe. You?
I don’t really know if I will be available on Monday, but will somebody please, please, please ask her if the anonymous star on the CIA’s Wall of Honor has anything to do with her situation?
I wonder if cusses like Jane and Marcy.
Congrats to the FDL crew for this circle of comeuppance. This is one of the great webstops on the internet. Thank you for what you all do and keep going. Valerie and Joe are the guardian angels of this site now, anyhow. Right? There are people still to admire, patriots to use a maligned term. It’s getting to the point where patriotism is meaningless; you’re either with the planet or you’re against it.
Much love.

Glad to hear it. I’m doing ok.
I’ve been a political junkie for at least 20 years and the CIA leak case is one of the most consequential stories in a generation….and God help me but every time I see her my first thought is “that is one smokin’ hot chick” and I need to pause for a second or two and reorient my thoughts upward. Valerie Plame: A leading cause of cognitive dissonance.
