You can use Anselm’s argument to prove that the universe is controlled by a blue dwarf. I did this once as an undergrad in a paper for a Catholic theologian teaching a philosphy course. I got a C. When I asked him why, he said there was nothing wrong with the paper. He just didn’t like the conclusion.

I guess you didn’t get that the argument wasn’t at issue at all, ever. The whole point was to see if you could use any argument to come around to proving God exists, so the Church would be happy.

After all, they know as well as anyone that arguments don’t create or discreate or prove or disprove anything when it comes to spirituality and deities.

Also my morning grumble is about what used to be my favorite radio station here in MN — BOB 106.1. In the last 2 weeks they have started spewing republican talking points. I do not remember hearing anything from them before, so this is new.

1. They said the DNC chairman is sending people to NASCAR races to do research and asking that they get vaccinated before they go. They ridiculed the idea that NARCAR people are dirty, filthy – and Dean sent an email saying that asking people to be vaccinated had NOTHING to do with the trip, but they continue to foist that lie on us

2. They say that we have to fight Iraq and Iran because we want to be safe. Don’t know about you, but I feel anything but safe these days…

3. SCHIP is a) being used to give rich adults health care and their dime and 2) tax on smoking is stupid because there are not enough people smoking these days to raise enough money to pay for the program. But they would be happy to help poor children, just not rich adults. They heard this from John Cronyn of TX. harummph.

These stupid things will only be heard in rural Minnesota to give the base something to vote for next year. Yuk.

The U.S. military has ended an inquiry into who smuggled unauthorized underwear and a bathing suit to two prisoners at Guantanamo Bay without learning the source of the contraband skivvies, an attorney said on Wednesday.

The investigators concluded more vigilance was needed to prevent contraband from entering the camp that holds 330 suspected al Qaeda operatives, said Capt. Pat McCarthy, the military’s chief lawyer for the detention operation at Guantanamo.

Media reports of underwear smuggling prompted snickers when it came to light last month and McCarthy admitted, “We laughed too.”
