Larry’s not a homosexual. Larry is bisexual.
That should relieve the Republicans…right?? ;)

you know, with the sick minds in the republican party, craig being bi sexual would actually give truth to the claim;

“I am not homosexual, I have never been homosexual”

cause of course he’s bi sexual NOT homo sexual

Could Dems beat a Giuliani-Craig ticket?

At some event, the event marshals tried confine one of my friends to a “free-speech zone.” He told the marshals: “This is the United States of America. The whole fucking country is a free-speech zone.”

Woo hoo!

Carl Nyberg @ 100

Picture a GI witnessing contractors engaged in embezzling money provided by U.S. taxpayers.

Say this GI starts raising the issue through the chain-of-command and threatens to call the DOD Hotline.

How hard would it be for a contractor to call one of his Blackwater buddies and arrange for a hit on the GI raising questions?

If one or more Blackwater employees did kill a GI as part of covering up contractors stealing money, who would have jurisdiction to investigate and prosecute the crime?

Would Blackwater employees provide security to the investigators?

That is a very good point.

I don’t think they keep protestors away because they want to treat him like a baby–I think they know he’ll have a meltdown in public and act like the complete jackass that he is, nasty temper and all. That’s what they don’t want.

He’s just a man, we shouldn’t be treating his thoughts, scant though they may be, with kid gloves – this is America, where we make a habit of challenging each other’s opinions daily.

This is also America –where the politicians work for us.

Will there be a thread on Burma today?

Related

I was going to write about the Burma Campaign’s Dirty List, naming the Canadian companies there and suggesting they get off. But little bit of Web research seems to show that of the five companies named, Ivanhoe Mines, Jet Gold Corp, and Leeward Capital have already bailed from Burma. So, assuming those guys aren’t lying, good on ’em!

A spotlight on China is effective. They really hate to lose face in the international public arena. I don’t hold much confidence in countries boycotting the Olympics (and am not certain that is a good idea) but it is effective to speak Olympics, China and Burma in the same sentence. They really want no association.

Would you consider writing about the resistance and the Burmese monks? Or, progress by the international community Burma focus during this struggle? Small NGO’s are playing a critical role.

Immigrant grandparents who came to this country with nothing, worked hard and raised a family. A son, my father, worked hard enough, to earn a full scholarship to college. Then a full scholarship to grad school for a masters, then a full scholarship to earn his PhD. The American dream…

This son worked hard all his life, married a wonderful, loving and penny-wise woman and their kids went to college too. His first born child worked for a company faithfully and when he was within 2 years of his retirement, was laid-off a year before his oldest son was to go to college.

A second son, worked blood sweat and tears to open his own private practice as a family doctor and has fought battle after battle to remain an independent doc as HMO’s and the mess with health care insurance in this country works to destroy all his effort to provide good health care to his patients.

His third, a daughter, worked hard serving in management positons with international non-profits. She happily married and had three children. The first born had health problems which required a three hour surgery. Their medical insurance company filed for bankruptcy at the minute thier son was registered into the hospital for his surgery on December 23. On Dec 24th, they were notified they had to pay the entire hospital bill because the courts relieved the insurance company.

A year later, her husband’s company of employment had it’s assets seized by the IRS due to the owner not paying taxes. The owner contiued to issue checks that banks could not cash and the owner would not lay-off employees because he had never paid unemployment tax as well. Despite the employees trying to get help from the state of Maryland, nothing happened. The daughter and her husband went into the holidays knowing many friends had become homeless due to months of inability to cash paychecks because the IRS took theirs before employees got paid added to the pain that the employees could not collect unemployment. Her husband never got paid and they just barely kept a roof over their heads. The company owner still drives a BMW…

Her husband found a new job. Only to have that company actually be the first Enron type of failure a few years later. The employees received most of their retirement in company stock. Lost those years of retirement when the company went under. Employees were allowed to cash out when the stock was valued at one cent. However, a CEO walked away quite wealthy.

This story of the American dream continues. Each time injustice hit this family, they fought for changes in government policy to protect honest, hard working citizens. Sometime I’ll continue the story. It goes on…personally touched by Iraq…by healthcare failures..by the Patriot Act causing an increase in identity threat and having identities sold to terrorists in India…Yet, they still view themselves as a hard-wroking, honest, “do-the right thing” family in this country.

Despite these circumstances, the family, with each generation, worked hard to believe in their country and in the Constitution being able to protect them…

This family wants Congress to move or all hope in preserving our Constitution will be gone…

Bush’s “protection” is failing because finally, even the people in the White House hate his guts. If he’s not reined in somehow, the Bhuddist riots in asia will look like child’s play. Let the world watch how Americans do it!
