I can’t find the joy within in my soul
It’s just sadness taking hold
I wanna come in from the cold
And make myself renewed again
It takes strength to live this way
The same old madness everyday
I wanna kick these blues away
I wanna learn to live again…
Annie knows your pain.

TRex!!!
yes!
Yeah.
I told ‘em downstairs.
single digits…
Nobody notified downstairs…
This song grows on me more every time I listen to it.
“There’s no water that can wash away this longing to come clean.”
A lot of people will hear that and read in the usual pop song subtext of confessing an infidelity to a lover, but I hear it, and I watch the kind of crazy-eyed intensity with which she makes the hand-washing motion in the video and it makes me think about how it feels to be an American during the Iraq War. You can scrub and scrub, but it won’t come off. It is a cognitive stain, a blot.
Sigh.
TRex, read about your bummer meet up in the grocery last night. I think we can all relate to how uncomfortable that is for many reasons. Hope you had time to digest it today and feel better.
TRex @ 8
Impeaching Bush/Cheney would have gone a long way in restoring the World’s faith in America …
Trex, apropos to your comment downstairs: Yes, I can guess how you feel about the Christ-jihadists appropriating that quote. It pisses you off. If there is any comfort in it, consider that it pisses me off that they speak at all.
I’m back.
What happened at the grocery store?
Loo Hoo. @ 9
I think my response to that situation would be best summed up by the following mental image:
Both tiny forelimbs up with middle fingers raised high and me screaming, “WAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!”
I got better.
Thanks again, TRex, for Annie.
I mean, when has she not been remarkable?
a muslim life is not worth as much as a christian life/ the Bush family must be very proud of its fetid little turd.
I don’t understand this.
I’ve been staring at this pile of bills for an hour, and it hasn’t gotten any smaller.
I suppose that some action on my part is required.
See y’all in a while.
fading fast, here on the perimeter where there are no stars.
Goodnight everybody.
(waves, tucks zed under arm, and disappears into the fog).
burnspbesq @ 16
Aw, Burns, I wanted to know how the Herbie Hancock CD was… In the mean time…

VICTORY FOR (((TREX)))!
night to the tired pups. i should follow, but still backing up this fuckin computer
Rex:
Annie is great.
But my current fav is Ingrid Michaelson.
I paid all my bills tonight except water and cell phone, before any of the paper bills came. I went and got my balances on line and paid them.
I only did this because I was trying to justify buying these shoes. I couldn’t do it, though. It’s only the second and that would kill all wiggle room for pretty much the rest of the month.
Dammit.
WHERE OH WHERE IS MY CHECK FROM MR. SOROS??!!
TRex, we need to teach you how to shop the sales.
TRex @ 22
Dude, I got mine! It specifically referenced the anti-Limbaugh piece I did, though.
So maybe you’ve been off-message?
I mean, you did get the memo, right?
Right?
mitch ygm
TRex!
annie so rocks.
and she is so right.
There’s a feelin’
But you’re not feelin’ it at all
There’s a meaning
But you’re not listening any more
I look at that open road
I’m gonna walk there by myself…
daymit, stevea, i didn’t get the memo. didn’t get a check either
CTuttle @ 18
Hey CT, is your synopsis complete ?
Petrocelli @ 28
Heh, I gave you a brief summation to their interview, ya need to read the prior threads, my man…!!!
Yeah, pet, chs, marcy and jane did not do all that work for you not to read it.
RonD — if you’re still here: I enjoyed reading your blog, and left a comment.
The good news about not buying those shoes this month is that I can daydream about buying these shoes, too. If I don’t buy either pair, I can have them both in my head and enjoy daydreaming about them.
TexBetsy @ 23
Oh, honey, you don’t find shoes that pretty on sale. Not in my size, which tends to sell out first. (10) Bastards. No, when you find men’s size ten shoes on sale, there’s generally a reason that they’ve come this far down in the world. Same with eBay.
Somewhere there’s a group of about a hundred gay men with size ten feet and more money than me and those bitches have got ALL MY SHOES.
RAAAAAAHHHRRRR!!!
CTuttle @ 29
Well, that was quick … prolly not the first time you’ve heard that … *g* …
do you think the hearings brought forth any new info. or will result in criminal proceedings ?
mitch, any word in the wind in your neck of the woods as to when an indictment of the stevens clan will be forthcoming?
Suzanne @ 30
I wish I had the time to read all of their posts, but if I do, I’ll never get this book done.
Weird, Im listening to the Annie album right now.
Im reserving judgment.
Okay, must go fix food, eat, watch Buffy, go to bed.
Au revoir, mes enfants!
night TRex!
TRex @ 37
Bonne nuit !
Suzanne @ 34
I haven’t heard much, but my ear is not as close to the ground as EdTeller’s.
Petrocelli @ 33
State has some serious explaining to do, and Issa, didn’t do Prince any favors, should get interesting…!!!
Ready eye bleach…
Did I miss pie?
;>)
TRex @ 22
Damn you, TRex, for pointing me toward this site…
*goes off to browse*
psst: Killer shoes. Buy ‘em, buy ‘em!
BigMitch @ 40
you ear may not be as close to the ground as et’s but yours are in the legal wind
CTuttle @ 41
Really ? Issa ?!! He must be scared of Loo Hoo & Demi … *g*
So now that I’ve wasted the whole damn day, any of you Mac-folks know of a good backup program for the next time the school district decides they need to do this to me?
TexBetsy @ 46
The back up program on Mac works fine. I recommend Imac, too.
Man alive, do I miss my Mac.
Fair is fair. An Iraqi University invites Bush to speak. Old news for many of you, but new to me!
I just spent most of my birthday money on shoes- yes, I’m a shoe slut – but it goes farther than most at this place. I got these, these and these.
Do you like these wingtips, TRex? Seriously, check out the shoes, the prices can be downright ridiculous (these are ridiculous in the other direction) but you kind of have to haunt the place.
Petrocelli @ 45
Nope, we’re not that fortunate, more like foot’n mouth disease…
http://www.tpmmuckraker.com/archives/004363.php
darkblack @ 42
OH. db.
Loo Hoo, let me catch you up.
Codpiece in Farsi is “Bush.” Farsi is to Persian as Espanol is to Spanish. Parsee on the other hand, is the Zaroastrian religion, and most adherents live in India. India is a cool place.
Loo Hoo. @ 49
Haven’t those poor Iranians suffered enough ?!! *g*
loohoo, iirc, boosh made many many stipulations of changes that need to occur in iran before he would accept.
i don’t think the iranian prez asked for the us to become in compliance with iranian’s desired form of government before he accepted his invite to columbia.
TexBetsy @ 46
Check around on LifeHacker, they regularly profile mac backup stuff and you get the user comments too for more info. I’d use google to search the site though; their own search module is ridiculous. Just use the site: option in the google search…
Mommybrain @ 50
Paging Imelda Marcos…!!! ;-)
ok, next time, if there is a next time. for now, i am hoping the tech guy restores this to brand new tomorrow.
TexBetsy @ 46
PR firm I used to work for used Retrospect. Depends upon the newtwork setup too tho.
twȝk @ 59
I thought newt said he wasn’t running.
TexBetsy @ 46
Several choices with different features:
Retrospect – awesome features, networkable, and the worst interface and usage of any Mac program I have ever seen.
$130
Personal Backup 4 – simple, cheap, but won’t perform network functions, no cumulative archiving (very important).
about $50
Backup (from Apple, thru Dot Mac) – not networkable, but performs cumulative backup to CD or DVD, flash memory, your iDisk on the Apple servers, or a external hard disk.
$100 per year
Several shareware choices, like Super Duper, Carbon Copy Cloner, etc. Varying features and reliability. But cheap.
no network at home. backed up to a small hard drive twice (dumped onto the kids’ machine in between), and via the three thumb drives we own. you see why it took all day?
newtonusr @ 61
And those things would restore everything easily as well?
CT *g*
In my yout’, I was a barefoot hippie. It shocks me, still, that I care about footwear.
Mommybrain @ 50
I am not clicking. I am so not clicking.
BigMitch @ 60
D’oh, 707!
My apologies to any recovering footwear addicts or fetishists. Resist.the.click.
peanutbutter @ 65
Mommybrain has VERY expensive taste in shoes.
Mommybrain @ 64
Heh, after twenty years of wearing combat boots, I’m now a barefoot hippie…!!! 8-)
BigMitch @ 60
LOL … Mitch, you’re knocking ‘em out of the park tonight …
another early morning tomorrow. Must say good night.
Good night.
I know Trex has gone, but I completely agree wih him. Listening to the song, most people would assume she was referring to a lover or some personal issue, but the video makes it quite clear she’s talking about our collective guilt as a country for the sins being carried out in our name.
peanutbutter @ 65
Mommybrain @ 67
i am so laughing – and thankful that my fetishes are not shoes.
And I deserve them, too. *wg*
twȝk @ 59
I use Retrospect for PC work back-up, but I don’t like the tape drive. thinking of switching to external hard drives (alternating weeks) instead of lugging home a passel of 40Gb cassettes.
TexBetsy @ 62
use cron and a spare drive :D
Sleep well, Tex!!!
My external HD is only 10G. This may be the problem.
I am sooo not into shoes. Been wearing the same type of shoe for about ten years now.
What shoe companies try to do to women’s feet should be considered a capital crime.
Big Mitch at 53. I don’t comprende.
TexBetsy @ 63
Well, no. None of them restore easily, since you never really look at your data on your backup until you need it back. But Retrospect is the absolute worst, and Backup from Apple is the easiest (still funky).
But there’s this -
In October, Apple is releasing Leopard, OS 10.5. It will include a system level, super-cool backup feature called Time Machine. About $130 and a wait, since you will want the rest of the Mac community to test it out before you install it yourself.
i got to watch Colbert now.
back later
TexBetsy @ 71
G’ nite Betsy !
Suzanne @ 73
you’re not a footishist?
newtonusr @ 80
Rubbing hands with glee … this is gonna be awesome …
Just got these in silver, but no clue what to wear them with. Pants or skirt?
what is the apple backup? i did not see it in my applications list
Shadowstalker @ 79
and who will foot the bill?
punaise @ 75
Yeah, I agree with newt above. horrible mac software. Some people swear by it tho adn all the incremental saved states are interesting.
TexBetsy @ 86
For how wonderful you are … wear them with whatever you like …
twȝk @ 76
Great idea! And twȝk will be right over to plunge into the terminal to fix you right up!
:-)
thanks petro
Mommybrain, I was/am a hippie! You don’t seem old enough though, or am I mixing you up with oddmommy?
TexBetsy @ 87
If you have a Dot Mac account, you can DLoad it from your iDisk. If no Dot Mac, it’s unavailable. Sorry.
TexBetsy @ 78
You can just script it to back your user account but if your anything like me my user account takes up most of the hard drive.
G’ nite all … pleasant tomorrows !!!
twȝk @ 89
Regrettably, I use it in almost all light industrial situations. But it’s awful to work with.
CTuttle @ 69
Good for you, CT. And your feet!
Loo Hoo. @ 91
Dang, so many mommies, what is this a Fem blog or something…?!!! ;-)
This time shutting the lid and then the light.
Night.
Loo Hoo. @ 93
While I am certainly odd, I’m a quite a bit older than oddmommy, who also doesn’t look her age.
Petrocelli @ 94
Nite, Mi Amigo!!!

newtonusr @ 81
Most important Mac advice out there. Apple loves to abuse it’s early adopters :)
Off to watch TDS. Night, pups. *waves and yawns*
nite betsy
*waving to all the leaving sleepy pups*
Loo Hoo. @ 80
You mentioned the invitation to Bush to go to Iran and speak at the university. I replied with some random quotes from the discussion downstairs that were prompted by a discussion of that invitation.
Just another failed attempt at humor, but no malicious intent.
punaise@87
Perhaps, instead, we should convict the nails, and hang them?
twȝk @ 103
I tell clients that if they wait, that $130 they spend will seem like a pittance, compared to the fix’em’up costs if they brave it before I’ve had a week or ten days with it.
Potential tips on mac backups:
Mirror Your Mac on a Bootable External Drive
Backup your Mac
Download of the Day: Mozy (Windows/Mac)
LH Faceoff: Mac backup software
Night, all. Night, Suz, BigMitch. CT, aloha. Wish my toes were in the island sands right now.
Alrighty, time for me to turn in, too!
*waves shoes*
Oops.
punaise, I almost missed you. Long time…
Shadowstalker @ 108
I reply, in *groan*
Mommybrain @ 113
yeah, your aim is slipping :~)
buenos nachos to you…
Niters all – need to get horizontal & watch Jon wail on Matthews w/mrbrat & Buddha Blue. Tanks for the memories. ;~)
punaise @ 115
You reply, sir, with your usual polish.
This was the best news I heard all day… Rep. Obey, Chair of the Appropriations Com…
“I would be more than willing to report out a supplemental meeting the President’s request if that request were made in support of a change in policy that would do three things.
– “Establish as a goal the end of U.S. involvement in combat operations by January of 2009.”
– “Ensure that troops would have adequate time at home between deployments as outlined in the Murtha and Webb amendments.”
– “Demonstrate a determination to engage in an intensive, broad scale diplomatic offensive involving other countries in the region.”
“But this policy does not do that. It simply borrows almost $200 billion to give to the Departments of State, Defense, Energy, and Justice with no change in sight.
“As Chairman of the Appropriations Committee I have absolutely no intention of reporting out of Committee anytime in this session of Congress any such request that simply serves to continue the status quo.”
Could it it be???
newtonusr @ 109
707! yup.
You speak like a veteran from m68k -> ppc -> osx -> intel
Punaise@114
Cutie, cool.
BigMitch @ 106
No malicious intent on your part, BM, but with regard to those in our government???
I’m gone too. Love you all.
OK, Bay Area types…
This morning I alternated between C-Span 1 & 2. When I got back from appointments, C-Span 2 was gone from the lineup and from the cable guide. Jonesing at the mere thought.
I called Comcast, ready to pounce and was told that C-Span 2 had been moved to channel 109, and C-Span 3 would be online by Wednesday.
So, C-Span is 22 (nestled between SinoTV and the Jewelry channel), C-Span is 2 is channel 109 and C-Span is 3 is channel 110.
Nite, NPB and Loo Hoo!!!
twȝk @ 119
Hung my shingle out in 1991. I actually worked on a PM7100/66 last week. SCSI, NuBus, System 7.5.5. *head explodes*
Quadra 650 the week before.
Shadowstalker @ 120
arch wry, Val.
CTuttle @ 18
Good, not great. I’m not a huge fan of Norah Jones, who sings on a couple of tracks. YMMV.
TRex @ 22
Bills for the front half of the month are paid. Felt good to write that check to the ACLU.
Next week, I get to write the biggest check I’ve ever written. Unfortunately, it’s to the IRS. I didn’t hate paying taxes before Bush became President. Wonder if there’s some connection …
tweety next on tds for all you west coasters who forgot to tune in
burnspbesq @ 128
Norah is alright, does he venture into different territory or much of the same…?!!!
WooHoo!!!
Just back from Matanuska-Susitna Borough local election results HQ. The more liberal or progressive candidates swept all three school board seats by wide margins, and we beat down a totally nutty property initiative 7,800 to 3,200 or so. This is one of the reddest electoral areas in the USA.
great news, ET
good news, et
Nice ET!
Where are we with Sen. Toobz, please?
ya beat me to asking, newt
punaise@126
I could never presume to approach your art form, sir, you are the clause that refreshes.
newtonusr @ 125
:D
The first system I got my head into was PM7100 clone. ppc601
TexBetsy @ 78
External storage is a total commodity these days. I’ve seen bus-powered 160Gb drives, smaller than a paperback book, for around $150 at my local Staples. And not some Chinese brand you’ve never heard of, either — Seagate and WD.
punaise @ 133
Yeah. We’re pumped. We didn’t spend much time on this election, holding signs at crossroads and doing some phone calling, but this is two elections in a row where progressives have swept away the wingnuts, who have totally ruled local government for over ten years.
Norah is far more than just okay. She is HOT!
Ed*ard Teller @ 131
w00t!
good news!
newtonusr @ 136
Bumped in to a good friend of mine – the wife of an ex-vice president of BP Alaska – at Barnes & Noble in Anchorage. Everybody, even in her husband’s circle, wants Ted and Don gone, gone, gone.
CTuttle @ 119
Be still, my heart.
Loo Hoo. @ 142
That refresh button is mighty addictive, eh?!!! *g*
Man, this is the first I’ve seen Issa! Gotta hand to Loo Hoo and demi for standing up to him. What a frothing at the mouth corpratist!
Burns, Pelosi subsequently shot down his war tax idea, tho! I’m hopeful, but, I’m not holding my breath…!!!
twȝk @ 139
A Steve Kang special?
Suzanne @ 130
Ms. ET saw him while I was gone. She’d never seen him before. She said he reminded her of a picture in one of her childhood books of Humpty Dumpty (? – weird, huh?) She thought Stewart totaled the guy.
Shadowstalker @ 137
why, that’s mighty kind of you.
back to what started it this thread: those unregulated online shoe purchases – just another example of laces faire capitalism. where’s Adam Smith’s invisible foot now?
et, tweety at the end of the interview:
this is the worst interview i have ever had in my life.. this is insulting and then as the music cued and the crowd was clapping over the smackdown, tweety did a fake slap at jon
tweety came out defensive, arms cross with his hands under his armpits
Ed*ard Teller @ 150
Mrs. ET is a wise woman. It was embarrassing to see him get smoked like that. And must-see TV.

Holy Crap! The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals actually stayed an execution!

large-mouthed (b)ass doesn’t quite measure up

the times, they are a’changing
newtonusr @ 154
yup yup yup, lol. yeah.
The board was still apple branded tho and it runs MkLinux great!
punaise@150
Adam Smith….brought to heel by Ayn Rand’s protege, I think. But that could just be an arch reply on my part.
burnspbesq @ 155
Wow!
twȝk @ 160
I’m running (or trying to run) Gentoo on mine.

L’il Boots stared into Putin’s eyes and saw the soles of his shoes.
putin looked back into boosh’s eyes and saw nothing but air
twȝk @ 166
yep. 603, but no joy yet.
The nice thing about banging your head against a wall is that it feels so good when you finally stop.
newtonusr @ 163
being so close to your expertise has me presuming to ask y’all instead of googling:
i take it that it is more than feasible to build your own intel-based osx mac clone?
which aspects of such a project would be the most discouraging?
i like messing with the hardware.
Suzanne @ 168
daymit, where did my (nikes) go?
shoulda read saw nothing but air (nikes)
saw a Nike missile (sigh, low).
yellowdog jim @ 171
As far as I know, and to a high degree of certainty, it is a literal impossibility.
tw?k?
ok, i totally blew that.. it is air jordans, not nikes…. on that sour note, g’nite all
Suzanne @ 168
Air Boosh….the shoes that cost the customer billions, destroy your feet, fall apart immediately upon wearing, and still sell strong, year after year after year.
newtonusr @ 169
lol, that is true!
What about NetBSD?
newtonusr @ 174
There are hacked versions of boot camp that will allow one to do this.
Suzanne @ 174
no harm no foul.
Give me two pair,
I need two pair
so I can get to stompin’ in my Air Force Ones
yellowdog jim @ 170
Maybe some bsd distro with e17
geek p*rn
twȝk @ 177
I’m sure that’ll be next. But Gentoo is so sweet on my G4, I just wanted the familiar when mucking with that exoticaBox. I’m no linux geek.
newtonusr @ 173
pretty much, apple won’t let you install to a non-apple machine.
You might be able to hack it with a darwin install and a OSX install disk.
If you have a lot of time on your hands it could be fun to try :)
Fox looked into Bush’s eyes and saw a pussy who is scared of horses. Some “ranch” he has in Crawford. I lived in rural America for years, heated my home with a wood stove with wood I went out and cut myself, depended on food I grew myself in my garden, and I am simply amazed at how many bumpkin fly-over state Americans could not spot what a patonizing idiot phony GWB is with his fake Texas accent and his inability to speak English as a first language.
nite suzanne
newtonusr @ 180
I haven’t tried Gentoo is quite a while but it was pretty fast on a G3.
I’ve been more into the BSDs since MkLInux

Michael Bloomfield At His Best
KPIG just spun this, I had to go find it to share. *G*
Ok, so Albert Brooks was hot, it’s HIS song. And of course, Al Kooper just slays the Hammond B-3.
After all these long years, it’s STILL so difficult to accept, they added the Tower Of Power Horns in the studio, as an ‘afterthought’ . . . Super Session it was for the night Bloomfield showed up. Damn that heroin. Him AND Paul Butterfield.
larue @ 188
That alto sax is amazing. I love my vinyl.

“And I think of Dean Moriarty.
I. Think. Of. Dean. Moriarty.”
S’up, dogs? Squiddy here.
Been looking for verification on this 3rd-hand NPR rumor of Israeli troops amassing on the Syrian border.
Anyone hear of this? Not a peep from the MSM nor BBC.
larue @ 191
larue – I’m sure you don’t need to be warned, but stay away from BoBo’s latest stain, wherein he celebrates Dean Moriarty’s 50th as only he can.
yellowdog jim @ 189
herez a toobz
Mommybrain @ 50
I’ll never pay more than $40 for a pair of shoes, not even for office wear. It’s obscene and an equal waste of our resources equal to SUV’s in The City . . . . .
Harumph.
twȝk @ 182
Job’s will be done.
i remember seeing a cable (TechTV?)(3 years ago?) show with Leo LaPorte: they had a working clone.
they had to buy a processor online or something.
only way to get microcode, maybe?
up thread, some kind soul who’s name i have forgotten suggested Boot Camp would/could help.
it would be.
an adventure.
so.
i should get the old 68000 out of the garage and load some bsd?
TexBetsy @ 86
Khaki Hiking Shorts? *G*
Suzanne @ 169
No, there was light coming in from his ears . . ;-)
yellowdog jim @ 195
I dunno, I bet OSX require apple’s boot rom. A little dated but people are at it.
Yeah the old 68000 with BSD would handy. Especially if you have OSX running on the local network.
Boot Camp is the inverse or what you want. I’ve outta the mac rumor mill for a while so maybe..
newtonusr @ 193
Lost me, hoss . . .
Hmmm. Triple Boot via BootCamp
I didn’t realize boot camp was a boot loader *g

David Brooks takes for a spin.
Goddammit, why doesnt apple just open their friggen os to everybody if its so friggin great…

twȝk @ 201
Wow. Nice find.
Kinda makes you want to find a purely experimental Intel box to play with. Not for mission-critical installs, at least not the first time out.
twȝk @ 199
yes.
as they say.
and you wrote:

ah, yes: thx

thanks for the references/links, tw3k.
Orion, i take it, is indicative of the fall?
yellowdog jim @ 211
sure hope so ;)
why doesn’t this video post work? – it previews fine.
In the pacific northwest our winter constellations all look like clouds.
nice bright half a moon out there too

Yep, no more stars until May. Sigh.

Some of the greatest night skies I’ve seen where on the navajo res. Miles without any city lights around and umbras, in the winter, that take up half the sky!
twȝk @ 220
no, sir.
wow wee.
thank you.
smapdi @ 219
google earth’s sky feature could keep you up to date with what’s above your beautiful clouds.
yellowdog jim @ 224
Thanks YDJ, but that is as satisfying as one of TexBetsy’s pictures of food.
I thibk I really need google to emit full spectrum light from the home page. I guess it the price I pay for almost no snow ever.

Hi Lindy,
I have been wanting to say thanks for your Pelosi 07 sign I have on the back of my car.

Neither. Tummy ache…which could be stress, I suppose.

Maybe a few glasses of water?
working on it.
Hope you have a good day. I’m going to try to go back to sleep. Keep watch and stay frosty.

just me and my insomnia hanging out here. hoping to get some more sleep before it’s time to make coffee and start the day… but, at this point it’s not looking likely…

So does today look as busy as yesterday?
twȝk @ 242
do you mean hearings-wise?
yeah
there are almost 20 hearings scheduled for today…. in a little bit i’ll check to see if there are any last minute additions for today and update my list (but i’ll wait for some coffee to do that *g*).
nothing as big, imo, as the two hearings yesterday…. at this point there are 4 today that i’m interested in, but i haven’t decided which to follow (listen to and record).
i’m leaning towards the first and the last. what do you think?
Seems like a good pick to me.
lol, part of me would really like to see ron paul get it. It might be a great way to wipe a lot of lousy repug laws off the books to setup a clean slate for a good progressive.
venus is bright in the easter sky this morning

i can’t read your link (dkos is down for maintenance at the moment), but i confess he doesn’t scare me like the other Rs do. he’s really got good ideas about foreign policy and civil rights.. and i don’t think even our dems in congress would let him harm social security and other stuff he might not like.
Yeah, congress might become a check on the executive in that case *g
dKos was up long enough to post a front pager on the history empire on iraq then went back down for maintenance.
Oh . my . Dog!
Modo ran over Blackwater last nite……as the passive would say, “Tireprints were left.” *g*
Good morning, pups. As Waccamaw says, Ms. Dowd took on Blackwater. Mr. Friedman is trying to understand Michigan and wonders what Toyota is thinking.

The coffee and tea are ready, and I’ve got a selection of bagels with cream cheese today. It’s raining here, which means my jasmine will probably make another growth spurt later in the week. It’ll have that ugly fence covered in another year or three…
I always get pissed at NPR’s coverage on Iraq, but their story on Blackwater today was sickening. What possible interest could NPR have in softballing a story about a group of drunk mercenary murderers?
But this was Republican talking points all the way, ending in this mind-boggling sign off: “The white elephant in the room was that we need contractors to fight war.” Who came up with that? Why?
morning! guess it’s time to give up on the idea of sleep and go make some coffee…
Waccamaw @ 251
I thought this was funny:
GeorgeSimian @ 253
Sums up why I quite listening to NPR Nation Public Relations
Marion -
Just half a bagel for me, please, and hold the cc…. [sighs heavily].
Started a major diet Monday with no sugar and no fat allowed plus very little carbs for the first week. I’ve been a very good girl, thus far.
GeorgeSimian -
Well, NPR got the “elephant” part right.
Selise -
I’ll take all four doors, if I may.
Oh, and……….
i don’t think even our dems in congress would let him (ron paul) harm social security and other stuff he might not like.
Ya got more faith in the Dims than I do. ;-(
Mornin’ all!
tw3k -
Great quote, that! Off to read the whole thing.
Waccamaw @ 257
well, the first and last are scheduled to be shown on c-span, the other two by committee webstream only. i haven’t decided which, if any, to record (audio only).
wrt hearing audio recordings… i should say again… i’m happy to take requests and post the mp3s for download especially (but not limited to) hearings that are only webcast live (no archive, no c-span). just leave me a note here or in the comments on my hearing list webpage…. and i’ll do my best.
….
wrt to the dims. yeah, well, you’re probably right. just call me naive and overly optimistic.
Good Morning!
Happy Birthday tw3k!
selise, the nucular hearing is going to be on CSPAN 3

twolf1 @ 266
Thank you too!
at 7:45 am Rep Tierney (D-MA) is going to be on CSPAN to talk Blackwater.
Polish ambassador hurt in Iraq bombing
Tierney on cspan1 now as promised by Elliott :)
tierney -”mr prince seemed to think that by firing the problem employees, the company was off the hook. but it isn’t.”
selise -
You’re a dear to offer but, with dial-up, I’m limited to what I manage to catch as TV reruns on C-Span 1 or 2.
tierney sticking up for waxman!
cspan – Tierney shocked that Shays “got behind blackwater,” it was “almost an endorsement.”
New thread upstairs…
twȝk @ 247
tw?k, are you sure it’s your birthday today? Wow, the fall and winter sure went by fast!
:-) Happy Birthday.
punaise @ 151
You are agains shoes? Why, you have no sole.
Ms. Lennox is one of only two singer/songwriters who have with regularity brought me to tears with their words and voices. I really, really love this woman who’s shown a light on the lonely pain that dwells in us all, but also shown that there can be redemtion. THANKS ANNIE!!!!
Mommybrain @ 276
I am no shoe-in to march instep with the conventional wisdom on this… :~)
