AP – The Bush administration said in a new report Monday that Social Security is facing a $13.6 trillion shortfall and that delaying needed reforms is not fair to younger workers.

George W. Bush and Scooter Libby. No creeps left behind.
The entire Planet can do quite nicely without one, as well!
There’s a reason I coined the term “Credit Card Conservatives” back five years ago. I also posited at the time that our National Debt would become a National Security issue with much of it being owned by countries inimically unfriendly to the US in many ways.
Another republican president will only continue those policies, which is why we can’t afford another one. Now don’t get me started on the Moral Issues of Modern Republican-ism (aka NeoCon Moral Relativitism)… A subject for a whole ‘nother blog post.
that video makes the point, sharply
Shorter Repugs: “If we couldn’t lie, we’d have nothing to say.”
Man, I’m going broke.
I’m a little suspicious of two statements:
1. Rove: Clinton is a fatally-flawed candidate. (candidate?)
2. Bush: Clinton will be the candidate, but a Republican will “keep” the Whitehouse.
Hmmm….I wonder if they are planning on leaving at all.

Not enough energy is being spent on guaranteeing a fair election. That should be a new Senate Committee. Concentrate on that one issue and the next pres will be a democrat.

Not sure if this was live or taped, but did anyone see the HUGE gotcha by Shuster on MSNBC. Congresswoman Blackburn couldn’t tell him the name of the last soldier in her district to die in the Iraq war, but she could recite everything about the MoveOn ad in the NY Times.
Ouch
Well, I thought I’d take the advice from the video ad and go to the site, but “No Server” was found. However, there is this; it seems to be the same organization.
When Bush was ‘elected’ my only hope was that the Media would be at least as perspicacious about examining the man and his administration as it had been for Clinton.
I could not imagine that they would fail in such an obvious and seemingly coordinated way, and with such arrogance.
We need someone with the grit of Truman who said “I told the truth and they”(the Republicans)”called it hell.”

You are certainly right about the Ford pardon, notwithstanding the current MSM conventional wisdom that it was good for the country.
And I agree with you as far as Nixon’s motives are concerned. I just remember being really glad when he was gone.
If the Dem’s cave and investigate the NY Times over running the frigging Move On ad I think my head will explode.

They would have to investigate Giuliani too.

this quiz failed to pick up on my doomed pre-disposition for Gore; otherwise it says Dodd’s my guy.
pretty good ad but Goddamn it! even our own guys can’t get it straight. we were NOT rushed into war over faulty intelligence, Bush rushed us into war knowing damn well there were NO WMD.
“CBS) When no weapons of mass destruction surfaced in Iraq, President Bush insisted that all those WMD claims before the war were the result of faulty intelligence. But a former top CIA official, Tyler Drumheller — a 26-year veteran of the agency — has decided to do something CIA officials at his level almost never do: Speak out.
He tells correspondent Ed Bradley the real failure was not in the intelligence community but in the White House. He says he saw how the Bush administration, time and again, welcomed intelligence that fit the president’s determination to go to war and turned a blind eye to intelligence that did not.
“It just sticks in my craw every time I hear them say it’s an intelligence failure. It’s an intelligence failure. This was a policy failure,” Drumheller tells Bradley.
Drumheller was the CIA’s top man in Europe, the head of covert operations there, until he retired a year ago. He says he saw firsthand how the White House promoted intelligence it liked and ignored intelligence it didn’t:

Oh, this is good. Pat Buchanan thinks that the Iranian President did very well for himself in that session at Columbia, and that he looked all the better for the poor way he was treated by the hosts. Chris also thought the way the host treated the Pres. of Iran was very bad and totally unfair.

Wasn’t that about the sweetest television you’ve seen in awhile? Republicans don’t give a damn about the soldiers – it’s all about political milage, and it proves how they’re trying to make the Ad more important than the actual troops.
VERY telling. This video should be used in an opponents campaign ad to get her ousted from office.
punaise @ 56
I took a similar one awhile back and Kucinich is my guy…! Did I answer the questions wrong…??? ;-)
Mr. Bill at 29: “perspicacious”? You are surely joking. Most of the so-called media think that is what the Current Occupant has on his shirt after biking through Rock Creek Park on a July afternoon. Anyway, now I remember why I liked “The West Wing” so much. Even some of the GOPers had integrity (Ainsley the lawyer, played by Emily Proctor).
CTuttle @ 68
is it the same quiz?
This is just a web ad. Whitford wrote the script himself and it was shot in his house.
Here is the No Dirty Tricks site.

he presents himself in a western way

Over at TPM they say that Tom Davis-R is calling for investigative hearings into the NY Times for running the Move On ad at a discounted price. LS is right in saying that they will also need to investigate Guiliani’s ad for the same reason.
Here’s a quote from Matt Stoller “I’m a little worried about upcoming fights over funding for Iraq, inasmuch as they might distract us from discussing the Moveon ad.”
Elliott @ 74
I’m hoping that MediaMatters will be listening in—just in case.

RagingGurrl @ 27
Excellent. Marsha Blackburn is most irritating. Sorta like a cross between Kay Bailey Hutchison and Kathleen Harris (before Harris cracked). Mean lady with a grating accent, spewing study group talking points. Always.
Notice how the Democrats have forgotten all about Karl Rove.
Jonathan@75
I think he will get a lot of international mileage out of the rude treatment he received. As you know, in most parts of the world, there are certain standards of decorum that must be observed with any guest. Many will be appalled.
Eureka Springs @ 78
Ditto, for me, except there’s a three-way tie for fourth(Obama, Edwards, and Hill!)!!!
1 thing we can be sure of…. repugs are always on point…to a man or woman… otherwise – its out to the woodshed
The question for the next election shouldn’t be, “which candidate would you have a beer with”, but more like “to which candidate would you lend your car ?” …

I doubt that, OKK.
CTuttle, I failed to notice Obama and Clinton tied for fourth on mine with 57 pts.

“a petty and cruel dictator” Who would that be? I suppose we could consult the Iraqi people on that. Or the Red Crescent perhaps.

I was a bit miffed by that, too. I mean, if you’re going to bother to make this ad–say it like it is!
Still, it was a pleasure to break in my new credit card with a small contribution to nomoredirtytricks.com

Step up to a new post
Thanks for the quiz…Kucinich is my guy, followed closely by Gravel and Richardson. Hmmm, that kind of suprises me.
What really cracks me up is I agree more with Ron Paul than Joe Biden. Who knew?
Huckabee and Brownback rate dead last for me, and it’s amusing that I respect these two for at least being honest about their beliefs than the majority of the Republican candidates.
RagingGurrl @ 27
Oh, boy, Schuster cleaned her clock. I already emailed her to tell her how much I enjoyed watching it, and knowing that America was sharing the experience with me. Sweet little Marsha.
Actually, on that quiz Kucinich was the high guy at 39. Brownback was the low man at 3. Fun to do but I still like Dodd, Kucinich, Edwards, and Richardson in no particular order.
Curiously, both Obama and Hillary were tied at 29.
Dodd was my choice.
Spiritcatcher @ 88
The Gores, a famously close-knit family, could laugh at the coverage some. They joked around at the nonstop talk about which president you’d want to have a beer with. The Gore’s middle daughter, Kristin, pointed out, “Gee, I want the designated driver as my president.”

punaise: Very interesting. It picked Kucinich for me, with a score of 63 points. Gravel and Dodd were second and third. Dead last was Duncan Hunter, with…3 points.
CD @ 112
Interesting. Duncan Hunter did not appear on my list at all. A zero?
Hugh @ 114
***
Hmmm. My list showed 8 Dems, 8 Repugs. Tops in the latter category was Ron Paul with 31…Bottom of the Dems was Biden at 36.
And yet there is a poster at DKos who maitains that 4-8 years of Newt is preferable to Hillary because that would give decades to the DLC. Yes, it is said right over there. Hillary is flawed and by no means my first choice, but this kind of bizarre logic fails me.

Giuliani adviser Podhoretz predicted Bush ‘will hit’ Iran before term is up
RockPaperScizzors @ 112
Gore is watching and waiting.
With his power to purge so-called “fraudulent” votes, power to intimidate, power to wrongfully indict, power to secretly wiretap with executive privilege, Attorney General Mukasey (Gonzo II) WILL hand the presidency to Giuliani.
And there’s not a godddammm thing we can do about it.
This was a very powerful message, so much so that I am eagerly awaiting Democratic denunciations.
