The Republican Party, who Lieberman supports, is a criminal organization, since W took over. First it is an unjustified war in Iraq, then it is shredding the Constitution. Let’s not forget tax cuts for the wealthy, who don’t need them, which begets hugh deficits. I think of Republicans as RepubliCROOKS or RepubliCRIMINALS.

TheOtherWA @ 8

Jane, that photo of Lieberman’s smug, smiling face with his hand on his heart is making me nauseous.

I hope everyone in CT who voted for him is a little embarrassed they fell for it, and angry at their local media for being such morons.

Joe’s election was a republican effort. It was the republicans who voted him back in. Backed by tons of republican monies and efforts, as far away as the White House, the holy schmoe was voted in. I want to stress the point that most, if not all, democrats did not vote for him. I also want to add that CT has a far larger republican population than reported. We have a republican governor! The election of the holy schmoe, was the final flipping of the bird by republicans to the national ‘inevitable’ outcome of democratic winnings. Republicans, both nationally and statewide, remain happy with their choice.

Joe Lieberman, the final republican victory!

AAAH!!! My noble junior senator has struck again.
I had a few amusing moments when I called his office to inquire about how to begin Impeachment proceedings and if we had a mechanism for recall elections in Ct.
I have always disliked him but the rage began several years ago.I had been reading about one of those “unavoidable unfortunate incidents” that happened to kill about a dozen Iraqi children.
I turned on the television and Joe and Hillary were on,grandstanding about violence in videogames and the threat to America’s children.
Now,if you had told me a few years back that an old commie like me would be donating money to a millionaire businessman from Greenwich Ct.I would have thought you were off your rocker.
It is tragic that we failed, but many of us here in Ct tried really hard to retire that sanctimonious jerk.
When I spoke to his staff today I suggested that he may be more comfortable as a politician in Iran or Syria as his values seemed to be more in line with those he professes to hate than with those of us he professes to serve.

This whole situation is screwed up….Lieberman is head of a Democrat Committee Chair yet votes with the Repbulican on everything. Harry Reid needs to explain he is the one that got us into this mess with Lieberman. These are crucial times for Democrats and the last we need is a chair warmer.

Hey, DeminUtah @69–

I’m with you on the quality(?) of our Utah congressional delegation. Have you found a useful way to talk with them or get their attention? My calls to their offices have, with a couple of exceptions, felt like I completely wasted my time, and I tend to get form letters back that ignore my points or questions or requests. Thought I’d call to at least tell them about my anger at their votes today–think it would do any good?

seems to me it is about time to make a media campaign on the conduct of the republicans in the senate.

kevin drum has a very interesting chart up again today, from mcclatchy i think, which indicates the extent of their obstruction on legislation of all kinds.

giving the senate republicans, as a group, a creative name - o.k., more than one name would permitted -

together with some persistent spotlighting of examples of their conduct,

might be very useful in changing that conduct.

Dear Senator Lieberman,

I am writing to inform you that I will vigorously oppose your re-election when your current term expires.

While I have respected your independence and our right to disagree agreeably over the war in Iraq, your vote against the restoration of habeas corpus is a violation against the U.S. Constitution.

It is the very proponents of a strict constructionist reading of the law that are the first to usurp the foundation of our democracy.

As a reminder, Section 9 of the Constitution ensures that “[t]he privilege of the writ of habeas corpus shall not be suspended, unless when, in cases of rebellion or invasion, the public safety may require it”.

There is no internal rebellion nor an invasion, but there is an insidious disintegration of our freedoms based on fear.

Democracy and freedom is not for the fearful. Supporting our Constitution and Bill of Rights takes courage especially during uncertain times. In not supporting the restoration of a fundamental guarantee of our Constitution you have not shown courage and it is disappointing.

With respect,
