My husband, a current lymphoma patient undergoing chemotherapy, lived the life style the doctor advocated before he was diagnosed with cancer. He had no symptoms at all until lumps started to appear (swollen lymph nodes) and he had one biopsied. The blood tests, cat scans, etc all came back negative for ANYTHING yet he is a stage 3 follicular patient with an 80% chance for recover but 0% chance for cure. No one in his family has ever had cancer.
It isn’t all diet, exercise, and mediation. Sometimes you come into contact with chemicals used in your work or living space and they mess you up.
My husband was an airline pilot, former marine fighter pilot, and a farmer. He used agent orange, malathion, and was exposed to all sorts of junk most people are not even aware exist in the environment. Keeping clear of that which you cannot see is not easy. No amount of dieting, exercise, or good living would have prevented my husband from getting cancer. He got it from environmental sources and in this particular time of the world you cannot avoid it.

You can’t go wrong with any cookbook by Deborah Madison–she’s amazing.

UTLiberal @ 21

Are there any good Vegetarian, whole foods, cook books out there? I am in the midst of a lifestyle change to get rid of the high blood pressure and extra weight, and my wife is vegetarian. We have a horrible time trying to find veggie cookbooks that have great recipes.

Delighted to hear that you are doing well, Jane.
When i had breast cancer at age 46, I found “Getting Well
Again” by Carl Simonton, very helpful; from it , i learned how to meditate , using creative visualization to heal.
And whole foods and smoothies: yum, they really do work.
Good luck in your continuing journey.

Forgot to say, that was third stage breast cancer back in 1990;
i had a mastectomy and chemotherapy;
and now i have been healthy and happy for years since because
i changed my lifestyle and meditate. and who knows how the brain and body really work together to create new health? all i know is that changing works.

Heraldblog:

Just because we don’t know what the “science” is doesn’t mean there isn’t science present.

It is folly to assume we have reached any kind of pinnacle of scientific ideal.

All one needs to do is look backwards at science, when the world was once flat, when Earth was the Center of the Universe, when heavy things fell more quickly than lighter things. The list is endless.

Book suggestion: Powers of Mind, by Adam Smith.

Let me please add that there is WAY more about how the brain and body work together that we don’t know than there is that we do.

Only a moron doesn’t understand this simple concept.

Repeating now: I don’t give a flying fuck about how you do it, Jane, just do it, as the commercial says.

Jane, I don’t care if it is voodoo, you do what you need to beat this disease.

You have inspired me in a big way, and I want nothing but the best for you. I’m guessing you’re not asking for much at this point.

God bless you, but mostly We bless you. You’re one of my few heroes.

It is one of my life’s simple goals to shake your hand, as I got to do with Christy, and thank you for all the great work you have done.

Everyone out here is just a kick-ass human being, and it is both humbling and fantastic.

Every ounce of my soul wishes all of you the best.

Thanks again. You all give me hope.
