Dinah, honey. Damn. This song is so blue it’s indigo.

Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to present to you our Cute Firedog o’ the Week, my brother’s dog, Addison. Here he is looking all studly in the snow.
However, if you get to know Addison, you will find that he’s one of the nicest dogs in the world. He has impeccable manners.

One wonders how many Democratic consultants manage to walk and chew gum at the same time. Today Dough Schoen tries to reduce troop withdrawal from Iraq to some polling mathematics that will give the Democrats victory in 2008. Aside from the complete amorality of the argument — let\’s pretend for a moment that there aren\’t a mountain of dead bodies piling up — the crux of his position is
Noriega Stands Up For Netroots |

When Rick Noriega appeared here the other day to talk about a rather unflattering comment he made comparing the liberal blogs to right wing talk radio, one of the concerns people had was whether he would stand up for the bloggers who supported him when given the chance. And when the head of the Texas GOP Hans Klingler was talkin’ predictable trash, Rick did:

@ YouTube I’ve been running around like a madwoman getting ready for my upcoming US tour with The Donnas that starts next week. I first got to know them a couple of months ago. I went down to their rehearsal studio because they asked me to sing with them on a song for a show that we did together.

I’m not saying Jean Shaheen should not enter the race here, but I think Bowers has a larger (and very good) point:
[T]o be perfectly frank, I feel like Shaheen is one of the many, many Democrats who first helped lead the party into simultaneous minority and pro-war status back in 2002-2003, but who is now capitalizing on the favorable electoral stage that was prepared mainly by the progressive movement during four

Today is the 6th anniversary of Barbara Lee’s sole “no” vote on the AUMF. I watched her speech again this morning and it still gave me chills. I was in Tennessee at the time of 9/11 and even my wingy relatives who thought she should be shot for her vote had to admit that at the time it took real guts.
Frederick Of Hollywood: Poseur? |

From Brave New Films…a little lobbying background on Fred Thompson and the asbestos industry.
It seems the Beltway conservative crowd has its collective nose out of joint. The Frederick of Hollywood (H/T digby) roll-out has been bumpier than a rent-by-the-hour hotel room mattress. From George Will:
Is there, however, a huge cash value in the role for which he is auditioning — darling of religious conservatives?

Scandal, “The Warrior.” For Mr. ReddHedd who had (has?) a huge crush on Patti Smyth…
At what point do major media outlets wake up and realize that the Bush WH sees them as a bunch of easily manipulated pets in toothless “bi-partisan” sheep’s clothing? Via Jay Rosen:
When Goldsmith suggested going to Congress, he thought he was expanding White House power by adding hugely to its legitimacy without sacrificing much at all.
