I see you’ve been thoroughly spanked and the fact that you took the beating with grace and humility makes me even more glad that I -an ACTUAL Texan- will be voting for you come November 08. John Cornyn is a scourge and he has got to go.

More importantly, I pray that you will come to speak up here in the Panhandle. We tend to get ignored by both parties because a) The GOP assumes we’ll vote red and b) The DCCC assumes we’ll vote red. The catch of course, is that the folks in my area never get to know the good, blue candidates. Trust me, Mr. Noriega, we are ready. Ready for change.

I will vote for you. When the paycheck clears, I will donate to your campaign. When my neighbors ask me who to vote for, I will tell them: Rick Noriega.

I never was thinking that the author of the piece would back off. Or, at least, highly unlikely. And, yes, clear to me that it is “the author’s take” from the get.

What I was saying, trying to say, is that if Rick N feels that this comment mis-represented his views, then he needs to come back hard, in some form, with a response that will be heard.

Political hardball, and tactics. He needs something quoteable as a comeback. This isn’t going to be a “white kid gloves pearl buttons” race.

Our community is eager to find out what was behind the remarks comparing dedicated progressives concerned with the political evolution of the country to the likes of multimillionaire propagandists on Hate Talk Radio.

I can understand why you are defending Noriega. He is “your candidate”, and for a good reason. I’ve been there too. And, as a result I understand how people who are invested, truly, can have a different take than outside observers, who tend to call it as they see it. Sometimes painful to hear those outsider views- I sure do know that.

I understand the need to wait and see, considering how some of our other Blue America standard bearers have let us down.

I hope we’ll be coming back often with good news that will demonstrate what I believe-that Rick Noriega is a candidate that will have our back just as we have his.

Thanks for the link. Just read the comments in the context of the full speech, and frankly I don’t see that it does much to make me feel better about the comments that were quoted in the article. Liberal blogs are still getting slammed for stirring things up.

And liberal blogs do stir up issues that are cited as important- “the war on terror, the future of Social Security, education and health care for working families” -.

I do think the comment I cited above (from author of article) needs to be addressed and put to rest. Otherwise, it’s going to keep coming back. And, hung around his neck. In my view, this is just as important, or more important than a general apology.

fwiw, I thought that Noriega’s chat at BA way back when (original BA invite) was among the best we’ve had here from a candidate. I was totally totally impressed, and started spreading the word.
