If Biden’s POV is shared by most dems, we’re never going to get out. NEVER

Catch 22; If there are soldiers in Iraq we must continue funding; If there’s funding, we’ll keep soldiers in Iraq.

It’s time for Dems to vote against any funding any time-lines any more time.

If Repubs vote for it they buy a share of that lovely condo in farawayistan with the rights to go visit there on a hot day with their good buddy George W. Bush.

Hey, reality check, pal.

I’m as disappointed with the Dems and their caving to Bush as anybody. That doesn’t change the fact that the biggest problem with Congress is that there’s still too many damned gops in it.

If the Dems don’t have the numbers to override a veto, they don’t have the numbers to override shrub’s veto. Why does that keep eluding people?

Gravity didn’t disappear with Mark Foley.

The laws of arithmetic didn’t change when the Dems finally ended the gops control of Congress. They still don’t have the votes and until they get them, all they can do is limit the damage shrub can do before he’s gone to the Hague and the hangman with the rest of the scumbags responsible for this nightmare.

John Warner, Susan Collins and the rest of the gops who don’t continue to sig heil smartly every time the nitwit in chief forgets where the hell he is, who the hell he’s talking to or what day it is always talk tough, but when the chips are down, they still vote with shrub.

They need to have their feet held to the fire. They need to be replaced and challenged by someone other than the club for growth clowns who don’t think they’re conservative enough.

The blood of this Fiasco is on the hands of the nitwits for Nader who made it possible for little jebbie and the Supremes to steal it for them in the first place.

There’s not enough difference between the Dems and the Gops to suit me either. Nevertheless, there is a difference.

Dems don’t gut the environmental regs that make this week’s coal mining collapse possible if not probable.

Dems don’t put the likes of John Roberts or Alito on the Supremes to continue to gut the environment or rule against labor and civil liberties.

If the Dems don’t retake Congress, Pat Leahy is still held hostage by Arlen Specter’s refusal to put Gonzo or anyone else under oath, Ted Stevens is still fleecing the Treasury and Larry Craig would be on tour hosting NRA and Mining Industry Fund Raisers in an airport Men’s Room near you.

Well, it certainly puts the lie to the utterly-psychotic misguided notion that c-span in general and WJ in particular are non-partisan and above the fray.

What c-span’s become is a quasi public-access version of al bushira paid for by you-the cable subscribers who make it possible for Brian Lamb’s legion of loons to host the likes of bill kristol, the closest available Kagan or whatever neocon nitwit du jour from the aei/heritage/hudson coalition of the clueless they bump into in the hall when they open up for business.

Even the sainted Brian Lamb - once you get past his affable demeanor - has devolved to the point where it’s a lock that “If it’s Friday, it’s Fascist.”

Every day in every way it’s another edition of GOOD MORNING, NEOCON!!

First of all, in a sea of schmucks who can’t go 30 seconds without citing the washington times, weekly standard wsj-editorial and nro, in Peter Slen, or whateverthefook his name is, you’ve got the most blatantly-biased, shrub-shilling host WJ has to offer.

It’s not that his thumb is on the scale in favor of the gops, it’s that his left thumb is the only part of his body not on the scale in favor of the gops.

As for the rest of the bunch, don’t get me started.

Every time I see McCain on the talk shows I always think “Maybe he’s going to bite that jawbreaker!”, but then I catch myself– if he’s gonna bite it he’ll do it on one of the late nite comedy shows.

Might be sensitive topic. Seriously, I suspect his operation to remove melanoma from left side of his face a few yrs ago altered his jawline some. Sure looks like it.

No. I do not want him as prez., but…

Great picture by the way, forgot to say since I am all roiled up by Cokie Roberts *hands shaking*. I was really lucky to see a hummingbird the other day on a buddleia bush. I am not good at spotting those.

Glad you liked the picture. It’s not my best by any stretch, but it suits the talking heads theme quite well :)

My best picture in recent days is probably this one:

As far as Cokie goes, I’m surprised to see that anyone’s paying any attention to her at all. What a piece of work.

great photo julie!

Seems that the facts about the surge are pretty clear. Security has improved in Baghdad- and the surge probably was at least partly responsible..Things are worse in many other areas..

Anbar is better- but not because of the surge.

US troop deaths are up>

No one knows about Iraqi deaths

There is about zero political progress.

There will be lots of arguing about the details but that seems to be the main conclusion.

The surge CANNOT be sustained past March- no matter what- so there is no debate possible about that either.

As long as it is going on- it gives Bush something to point to. After March- he will lose his “Ace in the hole” but he will have gained 15 months with it…

If you evaluate the “surge” in terms of it’s TRUE purpose, to buy time, it was a GREAT success.

In this language, John McCain is always a “maverick”, John Warner always supports the troops, John Edwards is always “boyish”, Hillary is always “more experienced”, Rudi is always “something 9/11″.
