The latest installment from TheRealRudy.org. This one is gonna leave a mark. You can add cronyism, greed, ego, and lots of press appearances to the Love Shack Security Planning list. And some bald-faced lies caught on camera. Ouch.

Mike Luckovich’s take on Rudy! Funny!!!
Perris, my friend, let’s cut back to the five martini lunch from now on, shall we? *g* (Just kidding, but I’ve been reading TBogg, and couldn’t help myself…)
rudy can win their primary but they better not let him run
if he runs then hiilary finally has a shot at winning becuase there is no way no how the base is gonna turn out for a new york drag queen…not gonna happen
Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy, unless it had happened to nearly anybody else.
Nice! Sniveling son of a bitch.
Christy Hardin Smith @ 6
I did get carried away with myself didn’t I
I still have this stupid theory that Thompson/Jeb win the nomination…then win the election. Thompson resigns a little while later, due to health problems. Jeb becomes president and chooses Cheney as VP. Then we’ll be back for Bush/Cheney forever.
Did you see the new Rudy ad (or what purports to be a Rudy ad) that
links Fred Thompson to Larry Craig scandal? LMAO! I saw it on
Wonkette yesterday:
Wonkette page with funny Rudy ad
And here was an intriguing new theory about who posted it. Some big
mystery, I guess:
BigheadDC story linking ad to Giuliani campaign
keep up the great work…!! Kareem.
ack, no single digits!
Is Rudy’s star starting to fizzle out yet?
I’m telling you: Rudy’s toast, still-born, from the moment he gets that nomination. There’s tons, tons, of negative material on him. And I really want him to get that nomination. I can’t wait. It’ll be glorious, to quote the Klingons.
kareem @ 12
hasn’t anyone called Thompson out on the traitor defense fund yet? Or we keeping that powder dry?
gotta love this, at least SOME of the democrats are strating to get it…man this looks like fun;
must piss them off to have the truth thown in their face
LS @ 11
LS, if I keep thinking like you do, I’m going to have to adjust my dosage…IOW, you might have something there. OMFG! I . have . had. enough.
I am actually surprised that Rudy has not told everyone that Fred was actually playing him in Law & Order.
perris @ 16
I read the note in the last thread about there being “no report” just Petraeus’ “give me the money because I say what we’re doing works” thing. I immediately emailed some really ticked off emails to Mike Arcuri, Hillary and Chuck. Might be totally a waste(except for Mike – he’s brand new and seems to get it – signed on for impeachment), but had to say something. What garbage.
do-si-do @ 17
Or…Thompson chooses Cheney as VP…Thompson resigns for health reasons, Cheney becomes POTUS and chooses Jeb as VP..
Rudy will never play in middle America, never. There’s really no need to waste any time on him.
AZ Matt @ 5
Cute. But I think the real cross dresser is Mitt.
No Written Petraeus/WH Report?
By Spencer Ackerman – September 7, 2007, 12:52 PM
So we may not get to see the basis for General Petraeus’ computations that the surge has reduced violence in Iraq. An anonymous senior military officer tells The Washington Times’ Bill Gertz not to expect a paper trail when Petraeus testifies to Congress on Monday.

During the last GOP debates, Whatreallyhappened blog mentioned that whenever Ron Paul was answering a question, Fox upped the volume on Rudy’s mic so that Rudy’s giggling was certain to be heard by the audience.
So much for fair and balanced reporting.
Who wudda thunk? Good statement from Ben Nelson and Rahm Emmanuel on failure of surge tactice a achive strategic objectives. See front page of Daily Kos.
LS @ 20
Thompson/Cheney? The geriatric ticket? OK! Gray old Poops.
But I think Thompson could block for Jeb and then retire early. That would be his style…what a guy.
AZ Matt @ 18
He did, in his response to the Fred Thompson question at the NH debate the other night.
Adding to this -
I was at a ‘Pampered Chef’ party where one of the other attendees admitted to being chair of the neighborhood Rudy committee. (Seemed to be a bit uncomfortable with that, too.) The friend I was with and I both agree that we’d vote for ‘Noah Ward’ (meaning ‘None of the Above’, and let’s do without for another four years) before we’d vote for Rudy.
Redd – really OT, but have you seen this site?
http://www.thehugoawards.org/
Worth looking at the photos of the rockets on their bases (and some of the labels are legible).
what kills me in the Rudy video is the way he keeps *laughing* about all of this totally unimportant (to him) stuff. He sure seems to be cut out of the same appropriately sociopathic mold as we’ve had running around unrestrained for the last 6 1/2 years…
speaking of terrorism in new york, do you remember the big scary chemical weapons from iraq found at the united nations last month? turns out it was cleaning solvent.
[ps pls. forgive me if fdl has discussed this…i’ve been on vacation and was limited to my online browsing for the last two weeks]
Peterr @ 27
You actually watched it?! You are brave and have a strong stomach.
jayt @ 29
Oh, he is, he is. Although I hear his fashion sense is better than Der Shrubbenfuhrer’s.
Froomkin is up – Bush wins again
cahuenga @ 21
With Rudy, I’m more concerned about the independents and shaky Dems who aren’t in or near NY. Rudy combined with a Hillary nomination means a lot of wildcards I’d rather not contemplate. I personally want Mitt to get the nomination. Dems detest him.. even shaky Dems, rethugs will get more and more suspicious of his flipflopping and he comes off as insincere, superficial and, well, Kerrylike.
If Edwards gets the nomination, as I hope, then I’m not too concerned about either… you can put a fork into the rethugs.
What I love about Rudy is his class and good interpersonal skills. Not.
AZ Matt @ 31
It’s not something I’d make a habit of doing. But it was kind of like going past the scene of an accident, and you can’t help but slow down to take a look.
On the other hand, the snark practically writes itself during a debate like that.
Ouch! This youtube really hits it, hard.
LS @ 11
I, personally, will not let that happen.
EvilDrPuma @ 33
yeah, George could never coordinate the whole makeup, bag, and shoes thing like Rudy.
It’s gotta be hard to find women’s clothes that match with cowboy boots. Hard, I tell ya.
I haven’t formed a view on Thompson’s strengths and weaknesses because it is simply beyond my mental capability to understand his appeal to anybody sane.
Oh…Madeline L’Engle passed away. What a painful week. She was a Smith College grad and I got to see her speak some years back — and it was wonderful, just like her books.
Christy Hardin Smith @ 42
That’s sad. I love her books! As a mainline Protestant, I grew up with her writings (one of the few authors I was allowed to read as a young child)….
Hi Christy! Hi pups. Thanks for sharing this video. Let’s spread it like wildfire.
Betsy
I thought the understood point of this video was that Rudy wanted that location so as to have a convenient love nest for assignations with Judy Nathan, and that he used it for such before 9/11.
Blub @ 41
His strength is his ability to destroy the sanity of anybody who listens to him. Kind of the political equivalent of a Lovecraftian horror.
Great Luckovich on Bush’s Sock Puppets!
Blub @ 35
Meh. If recent history is any indicator Thompson is a shoe-in.
But what really concerns me is Hillary. People allowed Rove and his ilk painted her as the enemy of conservatives and the obvious nominee and lo and behold…
AZ Matt @ 18
He said precisely that at the debate in New Hampshire a couple of days ago.
Biodun @ 49
I am perfectly happy to let them chew each other up.
AZ Matt @ 34
Hi AZMatt, I found Froomkin, but yer linky here still takes us to the cartoon…just sayin’
But oowhee! Let’s get all excited and thankful that Mighty Petraeus might, might consider bringing home a scant 3% of our troops. No promises, now! Y’all be good boys and girls and let’s not see any anti-war demonstrating next week.
Yummy crumbs from the master’s table.
Biodun @ 48
Case of a big ego for a small man.
Christy Hardin Smith @ 41
You tell me this, right after I just came back from Angry Black Bitch, moaning about a little competitiveness on the reading front among the Sisters Bitch, and also the recent report about reading in the US.
Yes indeedy! Madeline will be missed, but we still have her books. It is sad, though, to know there won’t be any new ones coming.
Dial-up impaired.
Content hints beyond those provided by Christy?
LS @ 24
It still has a long way to go before it hits nominal support
Waccamaw @ 54
Rudy lies.
Rudy has a giant ego.
Rudy does favors for big donors.
Firefighters and their families don’t like Rudy.
A recent Village Voice article suggested that Rudy used the command center for assignations with Judith Nathan while he was married to Donna Hanover. Has there been any more reporting on this?
do-si-do @ 50
Try this Froomkin Link
Waccamaw — If you click through on the RealRudy link that I provided first thing in the post, it gives you quite a bit of background. Hth!
Ernest Scribbler @ 45

There was a lot of stuff in WTC 7, including offices for the IRS, FBI, and CIA. To this day still the only steel-framed building ever to collapse solely “because” of fire.
CMike @ 57
An FOIA request to the NYPD asking for movement logs and assingments of detectives assigned to the Mayor’s Unit, part of the Intelligence Division, and for their supervisor Lt. Brian Patten for the period in question might gets some answers.
Ernest Scribbler @ 45 I’m sorry to have repeated your point @57.
O.T. – More on the Rahm, Hoyer, Schumer group of the democratic party and why their continued pro-war, and why they are determined to rout out those who are not with them from the Dem party: http://www.jewishjournal.com/h…..p?id=11632
Excuse me folks, this man is involved in one of the most horrific crimes in history, and a massive cover-up of it! I can’t laugh at him, and if you knew what many in New York know, you would know how sickening this freak really is. He lied about everything on 9/11, and even that freak Chris Wallace on “fixed” news caught him. The fact that he walks around getting away with it, running for president with everyone just laughing it off, speaks volumes for how all of these freaks have gotten away with war crimes and murder for 6 years! Sorry…no laughter or sarcasm here…..
TexBetsy @ 56
he put the only emergency command center in the twin towers that had already been bombed in 1993. against all the sane people’s repeated recommendations.
jayt @ 60
There was a lot of stuff in WTC 7, including offices for the IRS, FBI, and CIA. To this day still the only steel-framed building ever to collapse solely “because” of fire.
Do you think he was taking Judy to the CIA to help her track down a hard to find purse designer?
You see, Rudy is the one candidate that I can say without hesitation I have the book on (fortunately or unfortunately), Dem or Repug. I despise the man so thoroughly that over the years ever since he was mayor I’ve more less consumed tons of material about him. When he was DA for the Southern District of New York he actually did some good things. But unbeknown to many at the time, he was in fact feeding and masking his enormous ego.
Here is a video of highlights of a FDNY firefighter recently posted (there is another much longer version):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DBb00PQR1zo
Hey Guys! Chew on this!
Fodder for the Fire!
Matt Bai and Rudy together, what more could you want!
Alka Seltzer.
Christy Hardin Smith @ 59
Ooooooo, goody! Thanks!
What means “Hth”?
Waccamaw @ 71
It means “Hope that helps”
Damn. Greenspan said yesterday that the market feels the way it did right before “Black Monday”. The Dow is closing down around 250. On Black Monday, the Dow dropped 22%. This is a bit ominous…I hope he’s wrong, but the money program just talked about it and said they hope it doesn’t happen on Monday. No wonder they needed an OBL video.
Richmond @ 66
LOL.
I think the CIA only handles foreign purse designers. For domestic designers, the FBI is the place to go. Those guys are *good*.
Miss Teen South Carolina vs. Bush
YouTube
Does any of this matter? There was a lot of material on Bush that got buried or ignored, in favor of the “horse race” mentality of the TradMed.
They succeeded in burying Gore, who is twice the man George Bush can ever aspire to be.
Waccamaw @ 71
hope that helps :)
Re: material on Rudy:
Just go to the Village Voice website and type “Rudy Giuliani” in search. Several articles will come up.
Then also go to amazon.com and type “Wayne Barrett” in search. Several book titles on Rudy will come up that Barrett wrote himself or coauthored with others.
And that’s just for starters. Vanity Fair is another source. The NYTimes archives is another. Tons of material from his tenure in the 1990s as mayor of NYC.
A little off topic, but I think Giuliani will be among those who say something vile wrt to new Bin Laden tape. So maybe not too OT.
I think we need to hit back vary hard at anyone who says, more or less “See, Bin Laden says faction Y wants X, and that is in his interest so we shouldn’t do X, and ain’t it a funny coincidence that faction Y and Bin Laden want the same thing.”
Besides being vile, it is stupid. Anyone, either Republican or Democrat who says anything like this is viley using this criminal’s statements to smear domestic opponents. Or they are idiot chumps who are so stupid they can be played by what is obviously very crude propaganda.
randiego @ 76
Rudy’s case is different. He’s highly toxic in a way that Bush was not.
Rudy is curt, vile.
Thanks for the feedback!
randiego @ 76
Truth, that.
punaise @ 80
Three Penny Opera. Ouch.
punaise @ 81
lol
Christy Hardin Smith @ 42
I’m sorry to hear this–I loved her writing.
The subprime mortgage mess is just starting. Layoffs in both construction and mortgage all set to hit in the next few months.

Jim Clausen @ 86
I don’t mean to sound crass, but what is goina happen to all the immigrant workers working on the supersize me McMansions going up in key markets around the country. Oh, I guess they will still be finished; its just the shrinking middle class and increasingly numerous poor who will suffer.
punaise @ 81
He is said to love music, especially opera. I’m sure he’s mourning Luciano…
kdh22 @ 87
but he’s not afraid of Mitt the Knife
OT- War and Congress
Scott Ritter has a new book titled Waging Peace
The people who are pro-war in this country are the Military – Industrial – Congressional complex
Ritter has some very good advice for us anti-war folks. Has he ever been a guest at FDL?
Video @ C&L
I’ve asked before: Just what kind of a name is Mitt? Does anyone know any other Mitt? It certainly isn’t dimunitive for anything. At least in the English language. In French: Mitterand, par exemple.
At the Village Voice website you might find an article about Rudy’s getting three Yankees World Series rings while he was mayor, the receipt of which while in office seems unique in the country, and legally at very least to be in a grey area…
Biodun @ 92
Not sure where the Mitt came from as his real first name is Willard.
Richmond @ 88
I would wager that a lot of the McMansions are being built on spec by over extended builders who will go out of business or are being built for people who won’t be able to keep up the mortgages on them once they are completed. either way, I see a lot of empty McMansions in the future
lf @ 92
I blame Steinbrenner.
Peterr @ 96
Rudy also did alot on the refurbishing of Yankee stadium.
Biodun @ 79
Rudy is toxic in ways that the Shrub was not. The Shrub was toxic in ways that Rudy is not. The Shrub was still very toxic, but it did not matter.
Shrub: officially awol from TANG, alleged cocaine user, official alcoholic, alleged John, alleged party to abortion, officially ill-tempered (mano a mano), official frat boy, bad boy, official low IQ, official mean-spirited prick (Karla Fay Tucker), official religious hypocrite (curses and uses the finger, record holder for TX Executions), official business failure, etc.
ALL of these were known by the Media, but the Media covered for the Shrub.
They are already providing much cover for the R candidates.
Guiliani’s downfall would be the same that all Northeastern Yankees have suffered since Kennedy. He won’t play well in the south and the Breadbasket.
say what you will about rudy guliani.
I’m putting him right up there with buddha, gandhi and steny hoyer.
punaise @ 81
are you sayin’ that Rudy is a dresser, a stressor, and wants to be a Messer
dakine01 @ 94
Mitt is his middle name. It’s from a coach I think that his father admired.
Hi Christy, sorry for the OT but you might like to see what your government is up to now or how far gone your “freedoms” have been eroded. This was just received by e-mail
“Your 2006 tax return is completed. However, to complete the customs form required to mail your tax return to you we need your phone number. Could you please email a phone number to me so we can get your return mailed as soon as possible?”
My reply – “I haven’t got a phone line and no phone number at my new apartment. I do not foresee getting one in the foreseeable future. Since when has a phone number been necessary to post anything? That “requirement” is offensive and outrageous and probably unconstitutional as well. Try mailing without. Sorry I cannot help you there.”
Brave New World anyone? P.S. Just trying to keep up with your excellence – hard work that.
Mabel’s Wig Shack @ 99
What kind of a name is Steny? Is is the diminutive for Republican Water Carrier?
Richmond @ 96
I still blame Steinbrenner. As a poor, oppressed Cub fan, it seems only fitting.
Margot @ 85
I visited Manhatten oh a lifetime ago and attended a meeting of some arts group and met her assistant. A beautiful young woman with flowing red hair who threw her arms open when the subway stopped like a renaissance figure greeting lute players.
wesgpc @ 100
he’s a joker, he’s a smoker, he’s a midnight toker….not
Arnie @ 101
Sounds like a phishing scam to me. The IRS does not do business like this via email.
“say what you will about rudy guliani.”
Oh, we will. Believe me, we will.
Christy Hardin Smith @ 42
I loved A Wrinkle In Time when I was a kid.
Peterr @ 107
Thanks Peterr, this is my accountant trying to mail me my return for this year’s taxes.
hackworth @ 103
it would be, yes. :-)
punaise @ 106
i think he really likes your peaches
jayt @ 60
Check the Aug 25 Science News. They’ve been studying what happened to that building. Apparently it burned for several hours, and the firefighters couldn’t get in to fight it (and didn’t expect it to drop, either: a first for them, too). The studies are difficult – one researcher said it took two months on a supercomputer to model the thing – but they’re pretty sure at this point that it was the fire that was most of the cause of it collapsing. Warped steel beams – there’s a very impressive picture of one with a hairpin-type bend in it.
Whew! Left you all on last thread to walk (trot) to Bus stop to meet and greet youngest.
Ah, yes Christy, first-time bus riding is REAL big girl stuff. That and making new friends.
Aja loves first grade.
No seat belts on buses here in Pennsyltucky. (Can’t remember who said that on earlier thread)
By the time I get back, discuss events of school day, unpack lunch and make snack for Aja (she’s a self-proclaimed vegetarian, taking after dad, I guess), get bicycle out etc. you all are 90-some comments into discussion of Rude Rudy.
You’ve all got STRONG constitutions. Hope our country does too.
dakine01 @ 94
well, that explains it. He’s a rat.
Elliott @ 112
yeah, but he wants to shake your trees
fascinating guy this mr. rudy.
lies through his teeth with a big ol’ smile.
gotta think that ‘mitt’ (I love all 84 of my aryan children) will screwdriver him into the ground.
somewhere down the line tony soprano is bound to be involved.
Donch youse worry about Rudy…… my fellah new yawkahs are gonna chew him up and spit him out in the guttah, wheah ‘e belawngs.

Just for Judy – cool new threads.

Of course, most steel-frame buildings don’t have thousands of gallons of diesel fuel stored in them either, to run emergency generators for a command center. Another brilliant move by Rudy.
…just discussed A Wrinkle in Time today with an interesting kid with special needs…
sunsin @ 121
OH. MY. GOD. Diesel fuel? I knew it was stupid to put the command center in an area that had already been attacked once, but it completely slipped my mind that they’d have to have generators for emergencies.
WRT Romney, his first name is actually Willard and I think we should start using his real name. It would be disrespectful to call him Mitt.
L’Engle~ The woman who got me through more crap growing up than any other~a true inspiration and a light. My remodel and putting a pond inwas partly based on the concept of a family get away in the country.
May she rest in peace and return to help us.
Rudy surely messed up that decision, not sure anyone would want him as Commander-In-Chief.
